Then, the young man did sothing entirely unexpected. He stretched his muscles, his knees bending deeply, and with a shout that Leo couldn’t hear but could certainly see, he launched himself toward the sky.
It was a jump that would have been impressive for an Olympic athlete, perhaps even breaking a few world records.
For a split second, the young man hung in the air, his hand outstretched toward the ship that was high above the villa.
Unfortunately, he didn’t even get close to the ship.
The upward montum died instantly. For a heartbeat, he stalled at the apex of his arc, fingers clutching at nothing but thin air. Then, gravity reclaid its debt. He plumted downwards.
He crashed back onto the snow before the villa. Fortunately, he didn’t look like he had broken any bones, despite the high fall.
He lay there for a mont, gasping for air, the wind clearly knocked out of him.
"What the heck?" Leo scoffed, leaning closer to the screen. "Is he... did he actually think he could jump five hundred feet into the air?"
Leo leaned back in the Captain’s chair, his fingers drumming on the armrest. The sight of the storage ring, his storage ring, flashing on that idiot’s finger as he flailed in the air had pushed Leo’s patience to the breaking point.
"He’s just a human. This at least confirms that they don’t have any superhuman abilities." Leo said calmly.
He expected the man to simply realize his limitations and return to the villa when the man suddenly gestures towards the villa and said sothing incomprehensible.
A woman quickly rushed out of the villa, holding Leo’s plasma gun.
She said sothing to the young man, but the man didn’t appear to listen. Or at least he didn’t care about it, as he snatched the gun that was initially stolen from Leo.
Leo frowned deeply, but not at the sight of the man foolishly aiming the gun at the ship.
He frowned because he saw the protection ring of Seraphims around the woman’s neck, worn like a pendant.
It was probably because no one else could wear that ring on their fingers except Leo. After all, it was a gift from a godlike entity that could only be worn by the real owner, and was created to protect him.
The young man aid the gun towards the ship in the sky. Since he couldn’t get to the ship, he planned to bring the ship down to himself.
It was unclear if he even knew that it was a lifeless ship, or if he assud that it was so fierce beast since he hadn’t seen anything like this in this world.
The young man soon pulled the trigger.
A bolt of concentrated violet plasma shot through the air, cutting a brilliant streak across the sky. It was a perfect shot, aid right at the center of the ship.
Inside the cockpit, a holographic display flickered to life in front of Leo.
[EXTERNAL IMPACT DETECTED: Kinetic/Thermal Energy- Negligible]
[Shield Integrity: 99.999%]
[Status: Shields Unhard]
Leo didn’t even flinch. He just watched the screen, shaking his head lightly.
Even though a plasma gun was powerful, it wasn’t a godly weapon. If such ships could be taken down with a single plasma gun, why would they be so expensive?
"He’s trying to hunt a warship with a gun. It’s like watching an ant try to kick a mountain."
Down on the snowy ground, the young man didn’t know that the man he had thrown off the cliff was sitting inside the ship, watching him dance around like a monkey.
The plasma gun, a weapon designed for high-gravity combat zones, had a kickback that an inexperienced human wasn’t prepared for.
As the bolt left the barrel, the recoil sent the young man stumbling back into the snow, his arms jerking upward.
The woman with the pendant rushed to his side, her face pale with worry, but he shoved her away, his eyes fixed on the sky. He was waiting for an explosion, a crash, a sign that he had wounded the beast.
Instead, he got nothing but silence. The ship remained unmoving. Even the clouds drifted on as if nothing had happened.
Leo’s gaze shifted from the frustrated man to the woman. Seeing the Seraphim Protection Ring hanging from her neck like a common trinket.
"I’ve seen enough."
As he watched them, he grew more and more certain that the only reason he was taken down in the first place was because he was attacked from behind when he least expected it.
If he had been prepared, then these people wouldn’t have been able to take him down.
This ti, he planned to teach them the difference between an ordinary man, and a man with money to buy the most expensive toys in the world.
Leo stood up, the chair moving back into the console. He didn’t need a full-scale bombardnt to handle a few scavengers.
He checked the gravity manipulated disk in his pocket. When it was deactivated, it felt like a heavy coin. Activated, it could pin a grown man to the floor with the weight of a small car even at the lowest settings.
He holstered his backup plasma pistol, ensuring the biotrics were locked to his DNA. No one would be snatching this one.
He tapped the console, setting the ship to Battle Lockdown Mode.
"Initiate a drop," Leo said, his eyes cold as he stepped toward the transport pad.
"Initiating descent, Captain. Good hunting." A chanical voice ca from the ship’s system.
The young man on the snowy ground, looked at the massive ship in disbelief as he pushed his body up.
He was stunned that he couldn’t take the ship down. He was also a little worried since this unmoving tal beast had been hovering above them, unmoving.
Just then, he felt sothing behind him. His instincts imdiately alerted him. Even though he didn’t know if his instincts were right or not, he turned around, about to attack with the plasma gun even if there was nothing there.
Unfortunately, as soon as he was about to turn, his face went pale and an incredibly powerful force descended on his body.
