7:00 PM.

At this mont, it was about the ti when day turns into night.

According to Kyoto Ti, during the Vernal Equinox, the sun sets at six, and by six-thirty, it gets dark.

However, in the considerably more westerly region of Shu, due to a delay of roughly forty minutes, the sky wasn’t completely dark yet.

The sun had just set not long ago and was still releasing its last traces of radiance from afar on the horizon, casting a few glimrs of light on the clouds.

The sky seed like a gradient canvas ticulously painted by nature’s colorist.

The bright azure of dayti gradually faded away. Near the horizon, remnants of the setting sun still resisted the encroaching darkness, tinting the sky with warm shades of orange-red and golden yellow. These hues rged, resembling a fla burning in the sky or ribbons slowly unfurling.

Having just returned ho, Chen Yun sat on the sofa, bathed in the afterglow of the sunset.

On his way back, he encountered Bai Shi and Sun Huwen saying a cheerful goodbye downstairs, leaving him with no choice but to pretend he hadn’t seen, swallowing the "dog food" helplessly.

Watching Bai jin wagging its tail excitedly in front of him, Chen Yun let out a light chuckle, feeling sowhat accompanied, as he used telekinesis to tease Bai jin with a tissue.

The tissue sotis fluttered upward, held aloft by telekinesis, darting from side to side, driving the silly dog Bai jin into an excited frenzy of pursuit.

anwhile, Chen Yun also pondered over the results of the afternoon’s exploration.

Today, following his short-term plan 4.0, he had set out to explore the existence of souls.

But after perceiving three top-tier hospitals and two nursing hos, Chen Yun’s outco remained the sa: he couldn’t sense anything.

This led Chen Yun to wonder—

Theoretically, it was impossible that there would be no deceased in these places. There should be those who had recently passed and those who had died long ago.

If he hadn’t been able to discover any souls, was it because the sample size wasn’t large enough, or was it that his spiritual power couldn’t detect them? Or perhaps the souls didn’t exist at all?

Thinking this, Chen Yun dared not jump to conclusions.

If he had been so sort of demon lord, he would have already recklessly slain fresh subjects for his observations.

But as soone who followed the principle, "If others do not offend , I do not offend them; if others offend , I shall cut them down," he naturally wouldn’t do such a thing.

Thus, his observation seed to have hit a stalemate.

However, as the direct sunlight from the window weakened bit by bit, and as he watched the sky outside gradually darken completely, a gleam of inspiration flashed through Chen Yun’s mind.

He seed to have overlooked a variable’s existence—

Light! It was light!

Chen Yun’s eyes involuntarily widened.

In nurous films and television shows, ghosts generally appear at night, rarely during the day. Then, might souls, as the antecedent and essence of ghosts, also possess a feature of light avoidance?

With this unknown existence of souls in mind, Chen Yun couldn’t help but boldly hypothesize.

And if it were so, would he make so discovery if he went out now?

Thinking this way, Chen Yun didn’t rush out imdiately.

It was still not quite night; the sky had only just darkened.

After he had changed the water and dog food for Bai jin,

He quickly finished the evening’s scheduled muscle tremor exercise and further training for Transparent World 3.0, to avoid being too busy to do so after going out tonight.

Every evening, the main exercises include a full-body muscle tremor and further usage of Transparent World 3.0.

There wasn’t much to say about the muscle tremor exercise; if it could be done three tis a day, one should aim to complete as many as possible.

As for Transparent World 3.0, the visual, auditory, and olfactory aspects all required prolonged use to beco sharper and more accurate.

Moreover, to recognize certain sounds and slls, one must have heard or slled them before, so they could be recorded into the mory Palace database; otherwise, one wouldn’t know what they were upon first encounter.

Apart from that, the main focus was also on training the spiritual power aspect of Transparent World.

With functionalities such as Real-ti Information Transmission, 3D Perception Modeling, Perspective (not able to penetrate living organisms), Emotion Perception, Telekinesis, and Light Perception·Color Perception, it naturally warranted the necessity of training.

At midnight, the streets tranquil compared to the dayti bustle.

Pedestrians were scarce.

The occasional passing vehicle only left behind brief trails of headlights slicing through the darkness.

Considering that the subway stopped running at eleven, Chen Yun finished his training and logged the data early before setting out to take the subway to Hua Xi Hospital.

Compared to the dayti, this place, although not a bustling downtown area, was indeed much quieter.

However, it wasn’t like the silence near Chen Yun’s residential neighborhood where, normally, everything would beco as silent as a graveyard by eleven or twelve at night.

There were still quite a few lights on here.

Near every entrance of the hospital, many 24-hour convenience stores were still open for business.

The soft lighting of the inpatient buildings and the ergency departnt was also always on.

Following a familiar route, Chen Yun once again strolled around, deliberately avoiding the caras.

The extre quietness made it easier to hear one’s own heartbeat and the faint friction of shoe soles against the ground.

Before long,

Chen Yun returned to his starting point.

Reflecting on everything he had perceived along the way, he slightly furrowed his brows.

The results of this trip were still...

Nothing at all!

Even at night, the results of Chen Yun’s perceptions were no different from the dayti.

Inside the hospital were only nurses and doctors on duty, only family mbers enduring sleepiness while keeping company in the wards, and only patients lying in their beds, suffering...

There was nothing supernatural to be found.

It seed that Chen Yun was really just overthinking things. There appeared to be no existence of souls in this world.

However, considering his own scientifically inexplicable special abilities, it was really hard for Chen Yun not to overthink.

If beings like him could exist in this world,

Wouldn’t it also not be strange if souls existed too?

He didn’t necessarily want to find a soul, but he just wanted to seriously understand what the essence of the world he lived in was like.

Understanding this was of great importance in judging the feasibility of various future decisions he might make.

After musing for a while,

Chen Yun decided to try one last ti.

At least, visiting a cetery at night seed like a necessary step to preliminarily conclude whether or not souls existed.

He called a ride-share, setting the destination to a residential area near the nearest public cetery, instead of directly choosing the cetery itself.

He thought that drivers might be afraid to accept an order to go to a cetery late at night.

Before long,

A black BYD car stopped in front of Chen Yun.

After confirming his mobile number’s last digits, Chen Yun sat in the back seat of the taxi.

As the vehicle started, Chen Yun quietly looked out through the car window.

It had to be said that after his body had changed, he seed to have never wandered the streets late at night, or it could be said that he had never wandered at all.

The city at night was completely different from the dayti.

At this mont, the night was as deep as it could be, and the city was enveloped in a thick blanket of darkness. Street lights beca sparse, with only the occasional lamppost and store windows emitting a faint glow, like islands in an ocean.

The rustling sound of the breeze through the leaves, the echo of distant barking dogs, the noise of stray animals rummaging through trash bins...

It was quiet, but it didn’t feel dead.

This was an unprecedented experience.

Walking the streets at night truly gave a completely different yet oddly relaxing feeling.

Even Chen Yun, who now had little to worry about in his daily life, felt so.

"Perhaps, I could often try night walks in the future?"

Murmuring to himself,

Chen Yun opened the car window to feel the cool night breeze.

He felt a sense of comfort and relaxation beginning to erge within him.

Before long,

Chen Yun arrived at the destination he had set.
