Having soone seek us out here really was beyond expectation; we chose this place to rest because it’s relatively far from the battlegrounds, and in all likelihood, we’re nearly out of range.

But now that soone really is coming, there’s not much place to hide in this empty factory.

Under these conditions, once discovered, we might well plunge into an unpredictable fierce fight.

The two of us exchanged a look, and a tacit plan ford in our minds.

If possible, it would be best to avoid battle.

But there’s nowhere to hide in this abandoned factory.

Instead of waiting for them to find us, better to strike first!

Nick signaled to Bai Shi to prepare for combat, while he quietly approached the makeshift trap we had set earlier, hoping to surprise the assailants.

Bai Shi placed the purple sandalwood gundam sculpture in a relatively concealed spot, making sure it wouldn’t be damaged.

As the sound of footsteps from outside drew closer, our heartbeats involuntarily quickened.

Nick hid aside.

In his left hand, he held a sharpened wooden stick, one of the best self-defense tools under these rudintary conditions, and in his right, a silenced pistol.

The door was violently pushed open.

Not all of the eight fully ard n rushed in; three stepped in first.

Clearly, they were sufficiently cautious, avoiding the risk of being wiped out in one fell swoop.

It was evident that they weren’t ordinary patrollers but more like a well-trained small squad, definitely elite in the Golden Triangle.

Bai Shi and Nick Horton were unsure who these people were.

They only knew that this group was ard to the teeth, whether friend or foe didn’t matter.

They didn’t dare gamble with their lives.

They assud the others were enemies.

So, the mont those n stepped into the room, Nick activated the trap without hesitation.

In an instant, a burst of gold tal fragnts shot out, hitting the three n in their eyes and faces, temporarily blinding them and knocking them off balance.

Seizing the opportunity, Bai Shi and Nick sprang into action.

Bai Shi, despite his bulk, used his nimble agility to quickly flank the enemies, attempting a rear attack.

Nick imdiately confronted the enemy closest to him.

Bai Shi fired his gun without hesitation and fatally shot the guy in the back with efficient precision.

Nick Horton placed his gun against the face of the man in front and pulled the trigger; the sharpened wooden stick in his other hand stabbed straight into the chest of the man in the middle.

The battle was as quick to ignite as it was to end.

The man at the front and the one at the rear fell to the ground, instantly killed by the surprise attack.

The man in the middle was just stabbed in the chest.

Although in imnse pain, he wasn’t imdiately dead.

Before Bai Shi could fire again, he didn’t hesitate to squeeze off a burst.

Though the bullets strayed too far to hit their mark, this last burst made an enormous noise just before death, alerting the eight ard n outside that sothing was wrong.

Without hesitation, they returned fire.

Though lacking heavy firepower, the spray from a few automatic weapons was still formidable.

For a mont, it was deafening, with many bullets piercing through the factory’s tal doors.

In this critical mont,

Bai Shi dodged and sought cover, shouting, "Nick, follow the plan now!"

Having said that, he put on a gas mask and took out a small bottle.

Inside was a special powder.

This powder, which he had researched himself, could produce large amounts of smoke in a short ti and had so degree of anesthetic and hallucinogenic effects.

Nick caught on quickly, also put on a gas mask, and threw seven or eight small bottles of smoke bombs outside.

Bai Shi threw two inside the room.

After a mont, the entire room filled with thick white smoke, almost reducing visibility to zero.

Outside, too, the thick fog began to spread.

The five surviving ard n imdiately reduced their firepower.

Taking advantage of the chaos, the two of us quickly grabbed our belongings and rushed out of the factory.

Outside,

we continued along the path we had predetermined after arriving at the camp, running while keeping an eye on the surroundings.

There was a vehicle driven by the ard personnel outside.

This all-terrain vehicle stood out especially in the dim light.

It was a dium-sized, four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle, its appearance sowhat similar to the classic Toyota Land Cruiser or Jeep Grand Cherokee but with so obvious modifications.

A sturdy luggage rack was added to the roof, piled with extra fuel drums, equipnt boxes, and what looked like ergency packs.

Protective bumpers were also installed around the vehicle body to prevent minor collisions.

The four reinforced large off-road tires, with their deep treads, were ideal for driving on rough terrain. Mud and small stones clung to the tires, evidence of the vehicle’s arduous journeys.

If we took this vehicle, we’d surely make a great escape.

But considering lock picking takes ti, and we can’t afford even a mont’s delay.

Additionally, the vehicle might have a tracking device, and it’s a large target. Plus, this car is just a modified vehicle, not a truly sturdy bulletproof military one.

So, we can’t leave by car.

But considering these people might also follow us by driving,

Thus,

in the blink of an eye,

Bai Shi didn’t hesitate to throw a handful of special solvent he carried on him at the vehicle’s tires, sabotaging them to the point where it was impossible to drive.
