Old Master Lu did not die from liver cancer in the novel. He peacefully died 10 years later in his sleep. Allegedly, Lu Shaoyan avenged his mother, but no details were ntioned.
What the doctors said at the hospital made Ye Zhen feel even more dubious. Did Old Master Lu’s illness have sothing to do with Lu Shaoyan?
Nevertheless, if Old Master Lu’s illness really had sothing to do with Lu Shaoyan, that would make him borderline psychotic.
Lu Beichuan was still very young at the ti when Lu Shaoyan left the country. In the days to co, nobody else dared to bring them up in front of Old Master Lu again, and all of them chose to selectively forget about the incidents. Mother Lu had witnessed everything as they unfolded and had occasionally ntioned so of that information to Lu Beichuan in private.
Lu Beichuan told everything to Ye Zhen in detail, and Ye Zhen, after listening to them, remained silent for a long while. She now had a rough idea about Lu Shaoyan.
There are usually reasons behind one’s actions. It seed logical that Lu Shaoyan, who grew up with hatred toward the Lu family due to events from his childhood, had chosen to make the Lu family his number one enemy.
It is alright for one to hate. And there is no need for one to repay bad deeds with good. That being said, there were still lines that should never be crossed no matter what.
There should still be a bottom line as a human being as well as that of the law.
“Are you telling that Lu Shaoyan’s mother is the woman that Old Master Lu spend his entire life loving and thinking about?” Ye Zhen sighed. “So what if he had spent his entire life thinking about her? He never got to see her again, not even her grave...”
Ye Zhen remained silent for a little while. She looked over at the grave that was quite so distance from them now. She could see green mountains and babbling brooks through the misty rain. Perhaps, when the sky was clear, this would be a good location for hiking and getting so fresh air.
“Lu Beichuan, if I pass away before you, can you dig up so we can be buried together?”
Lu Beichuan’s hand that was resting on Ye Zhen’s shoulder paused, and he didn’t say anything for a little while.
“Never mind.” Ye Zhen sighed. “If I pass away early like Old Master Lu’s two wives and if you marry soone else... that would be so awkward in the afterlife. I’m afraid there will be fights.”
What she said made Lu Beichuan burst out laughing. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
With Ye Zhen in his arms, he said in a deep voice and enunciated each word as though he was making a promise, “You are my only for this lifeti.”
Ye Zhen leaned against his chest. She could hear the beating of his heart inside his chest as he spoke. A smile crept onto her uncontrollably.
“You have reminded in the past that Lu Shaoyan is a scheming and evil person. He is probably going to beco bolder now that Old Master Lu has passed away. You should stay away from him in the future.”
Ye Zhen nodded. “Old Master Lu’s previous doctor had ntioned so oddities surrounding his illness. Have you asked about them afterwards. Did you find out more about it?”
“We are still looking into it. I’ll let you know when we find out more. That being said,” Lu Beichuan’s voice was firm and there were worries in his eyes. “I don’t want you ddling in this one.”
Even though it was just the doctor’s speculation for the ti being, Lu Beichuan could tell from the doctor’s eyes that the doctor was just being cautious. They had no proof, but he knew what he was talking about from his years of experiences alone.
If there really was more to Old Master Lu’s illness, then Lu Shaoyan would truly be a psychopath.
Lu Beichuan did not want Ye Zhen to get involved in this.
