Chapter 140 – Harboring ulterior motives (1)

The novel’s Ye Zhen grew up being treated differently by her family mbers, and everyone always compared her to her older sister. She had always lived in the shadow of her older sister’s radiance. Every day, there was soone telling her how outstanding her older sister was. As for herself, she was just diocre.

Growing up in an environnt where everyone would look and speak to her with extre criticism and living under Ye Qing’s shadow, Ye Zhen was shaped into a withdrawn, emotionally sensitive, and timid girl over ti.

Children that grew up without their parents’ love would suffer from low self-esteem and insecurity.

Although there was hate in the original owner’s heart, she was too cowardly and helpless. In front of her strong-willed parents as well as her older sister, “Ye Zhen” could only deeply suppress that devil-like hatred.

In the end, her older sister ran off with the man she loved, and she had to take her older sister’s place in marrying a comatose man.

After all these years of receiving unfair treatnt, her resentnt and jealousy had reached a boiling point. The heart demons that she had been suppressing for so many years finally won, and her soul beca extrely twisted.

In the novel, she used the Lu’s as her tool for revenge. She used all sorts of tricks in order to give birth to Lu Beichuan’s child. When she succeeded, even if Lu Beichuan hated her, her position in the Lu’s was secure.

Despite all her efforts, Lu Beichuan fell to Ye Qing’s charms. Under this shock, “Ye Zhen” went completely insane.

Under this cloud of resentnt that never went away, “Ye Zhen” naturally didn’t have much motherly love to spare for her son. She treated her son as another tool for revenge. She taught him dark and vicious thoughts for a young age. And so, as the child grew older, his tempernt beca increasingly twisted. Combined with Lu Beichuan’s indulgent parenting of their son, the entire family was set on the path to a bad ending.

All things have causes and effects. The environnts that people grew up in had an imasurable impact on them.

If only Mother Ye had been able to care for “Ye Zhen”, to talk with her to set her on the straight path in life, or to give “Ye Zhen” a little bit of warmth. It didn’t even need to be the sa degree of concern she devoted to Ye Qing. As long as she said a few words of care to her younger daughter, it would have been like manna from the heavens to “Ye Zhen”.

Unfortunately, Mother Ye didn’t do any of that.

Mother Ye seed as if she didn’t want to dwell on the past. However, why would she have neglected “Ye Zhen” for so many years if she wasn’t constantly rembering how she had almost died on the operating table in order to give birth to Ye Zhen?

As Ye Zhen held the baby in her arms, she thought that she must learn from Mother Ye’s mistakes. She had to do her best to give the very best to her son. She wanted him to grow up in a healthy environnt and not live in the shadows of the past.

The tragedy of “Ye Zhen” couldn’t be continued on in her child.

“This is the baby I risked my life for. I’ll do my best to love him and protect him. I won’t let him co to the slightest harm.”

Hearing these words, Mother Ye looked awkward for a mont, but she quickly recovered. Looking at the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, she calmly smiled and said, “During your pregnancy period, mom has been thinking about the past a lot. People think more as they get old. Those things in the past, I’ve thought through them. Mom knew that what I did in the past was wrong and unjustified. It’s unfortunate that it took until today to realize that.”

It sounded as if Mother Ye had co round and wanted to have a good relationship with Ye Zhen.

Although Mother Lu was very dissatisfied with Mother Ye’s bias towards her younger daughter, it would nonetheless be nice if Mother Ye had really co round and started caring about Ye Zhen.

“Zhenzhen ah, I just saw a rash on the baby’s back. Give the baby. I want to take him to the doctor and ask him about the rash.”

Ye Zhen understood that Mother Lu was giving her space to speak to her parents alone. She handed the baby to her.

Holding the baby, Mother Lu pulled Lu Beichuan out of the hospital room on her way out.
