Dinnerti.

Miaomiao waved her spoon around, picking at and pushing aside the green vegetables in her bowl. Ji Yebai saw this and frowned: "Don’t be picky, eat your greens."

"Miaomiao doesn’t like to eat greens." The little girl had her own opinions, "Miaomiao doesn’t want to eat them."

Ji Yebai narrowed his eyes, not wanting her to develop the bad habit of being spoiled, so he scolded her a few tis.

A pool of tears gathered in Miaomiao’s big eyes, and with a toss of her spoon, she threw herself into Ning Xixi’s arms: "Sister, brother is being an to ..."

Ning Xixi patted her on the head: "There, there, don’t cry, don’t cry. Hey, Miaomiao, let’s have a competition. Whoever finishes their greens first gets a lollipop as a reward!"

At the ntion of lollipop, Miaomiao’s eyes imdiately lit up, and she obediently returned to her seat, huffing and puffing as she ate her al.

Ning Xixi looked at Ji Yebai triumphantly: "Girls need to be coaxed~"

Ji Yebai gave her a sidelong glance and uttered a faint "Hmm."

Mother Ning joked: "Oh my, Xixi, quickly get married into our family. Miaomiao, wouldn’t you like Sister Xixi to be your sister-in-law?"

"Yes!" Miaomiao nodded emphatically.

Ji Yebai said with aloof vanity: "I don’t like the clumsy type."

Ning Xixi: ...!! So is he implying that she’s clumsy?

She retorted, "Auntie, isn’t Brother Yemo single? Can the marriage arrangent be switched to and Brother Yemo?"

"(⊙o⊙)...Ah? Xixi, do you like Yemo?" Mother Ji’s mouth dropped open in surprise.

Ji Yebai’s face darkened.

Father Ji said with interest: "I have no objections. As long as Xixi becos a daughter-in-law of the Ji Family, it’s fine."

Mother Ji pondered for a mont with her finger on her chin, then smiled: "When we co back for the New Year, I’ll ask Yemo. If he agrees, then we can change the marriage arrangent to Yemo and Xixi."

Ji Yebai put down his chopsticks, his expression turned as dark as it could get. He turned to glance at Ning Xixi; the girl was still smiling, looking foolishly delighted as if she had stumbled upon a great bargain.

Damn it! How can marriage arrangents be changed just like that?

He went upstairs by himself, deliberately dragging his feet. But after a long while, he looked back and saw Ning Xixi still heartily eating her al, utterly oblivious to following him.

Stupid girl!

At the dining table, Mother Ji suppressed her laughter and nudged Father Ji’s waist: "Did you see that stifled expression on our son’s face? Haha~"

Father Ji smiled and stroked his wife’s hair.

Hopefully, after this incident, Yebai would learn to be more proactive.

Ning Xixi was blissfully unaware and cheerfully ate an extra bowl of rice.

...

The next day.

At school.

As soon as she arrived in the classroom, Ning Xixi unzipped her backpack. Beside her, Ji Yebai coughed, his hand in his coat pocket now ready to receive a gift...

Suddenly, soone knocked on the window.

Ning Xixi opened the window, and Qiao Nancheng stood outside, passing in a few comic books. His lips pursed as he said, "Your, your books, I, I rented them..."

"Thank you!" Ning Xixi joyfully accepted them and then pulled out that gift box.

Ji Yebai was starting to feel that sothing was amiss...

"Qiaoqiao, happy birthday!"

His neck grew stiff as he twisted it, just in ti to see Ning Xixi, with a bright smile, handing the gift to Qiao Nancheng.

Qiao Nancheng’s honey-colored handso face turned a shade of red as he accepted it dazedly, "Thank you..."

Ji Yebai silently ground his teeth, glaring fiercely at Ning Xixi.

This damned girl!! How could she give other n birthday gifts!
