Shaking his head helplessly, Ji Yebai coolly walked over to her with one hand in his pocket.

Ning Xixi picked the largest and reddest maple leaf, nodding her small head in satisfaction, "This one."

She held out her tender white palm to Ji Yebai, "Pen."

"Do you think I’m Doraemon?" Ji Yebai joked but still fished out a pen and placed it in Ning Xixi’s hand.

Ning Xixi carefully wrote down her na, then looked at Ji Yebai expectantly.

Ji Yebai rubbed his nose, took the leaf and the pen, and turned his back, threatening, "No peeking."

"What’s there to hide just from writing a na."

Ning Xixi muttered, standing on tiptoe, but Ji Yebai was too tall, and she couldn’t see a thing despite hopping around.

At an angle she couldn’t see, Ji Yebai’s writing was fluid and graceful, almost reverent as he wrote his na, followed by another sentence.

After finishing, Ji Yebai put the maple leaf into his pocket. Ning Xixi grumbled, "Let see it!"

"You’re so clumsy, what if you lose it? Besides, do you know how to make a specin?"

"No..."

"How will you preserve it if you can’t make one?"

Ji Yebai’s question stumped Ning Xixi. She twiddled her fingers, "Forget it, you keep it! Lalala, I’m off to gather more leaves for everyone!"

Watching her carefree deanor, Ji Yebai’s eyes were filled with indulgence, and a soft smile slowly ford on his lips.

A girl in a white wedding dress, a maple forest as red as fire, streets bustling with people, a foreign land alive with voices.

Ji Yebai thought, he would probably rember this scene forever.

...

A phone call interrupted the warm and beautiful mont.

The phone screen showed it was from the Ji Family. Ji Yebai answered it, and before he could speak, he heard his mother crying on the other end, "Yebai, your grandfather, sothing’s happened!"

Ji Yebai gripped his phone tightly, his expression serious, "Mom, don’t cry, tell , what happened to grandpa?"

Ji Mom couldn’t control her emotions, sobbing uncontrollably, but fortunately, Ji Dad soon took the phone, speaking calmly, "The old man suddenly collapsed last night. From last night until this morning, we’ve been to several hospitals, and the doctors say his condition is critically ill."

His throat felt blocked as if with cotton, and Ji Yebai anxiously ran his fingers through his hair, "What about the experts in our country? Get them here!"

That old child, though usually complaining that he and Brother Yemo were boys and not as cute as the neighbor’s granddaughter, saying the girls are little sweethearts while they are military jackets.

But ever since they were kids, no one doted on them more than Grandpa Ji.

The old man not only supported a family but also gave them worry-free childhoods.

That was his beloved grandfather, how could he be "critically ill"?!

"We’ve already invited the experts, but... they’re at their wit’s end. The top brain specialists in our country say only Dr. Sean from Country E might save him..."

Ji Yebai took a deep breath, "I’ll find a way to get Dr. Sean here as soon as possible!"

After hanging up, Ning Xixi happened to return with leaves, seeing his troubled face, she gently bit her lip and cautiously asked, "Dabai, did sothing happen?"

Ji Yebai’s Adam’s apple bobbed; he didn’t want Ning Xixi to worry, so he downplayed the situation, "Nothing, Erxi, I’ll have Jacks take you back."

"What about you?"
