Edward was an orphan.

From the mont he could rember, he lived in an orphanage called "Lamb's Ho," which was said to have been established by a pirate nad White Wolf Magnus after he took control of the entire Sphinx region.

Sphinx was incredibly poor.

Even before Magnus's arrival, the entire nation was on the verge of collapse.

Magnus's arrival stabilized the situation, killing off the pirates wreaking havoc, and allowed Sphinx to finally sit at the negotiation table with pirates.

Since then, Sphinx had helped pirates fence their loot, reselling plundered goods around the world.

In return, pirates were forbidden from causing chaos on Sphinx.

Even though Sphinx remained vulnerable and the people still lived in poverty, a gray order was better than utter chaos.

That's why the children of Sphinx admired White Wolf Magnus. Many dread of joining the White Wolf Pirates when they grew up, or becoming great pirates like Magnus.

Edward was no exception.

But as years passed, Magnus hadn't stepped foot in the country for over a decade. Rumors began to circulate that the White Wolf was getting old and considering retirent.

That was when so confident big-na pirates began to test the waters. When they saw the White Wolf Pirates didn't react, they began seizing the territories Magnus had once held.

Sphinx's fragile order began to crumble again.

At that mont, three major pirates led by the black marketeer Dukeman stepped up. Tempted by the wealth generated from fencing, they occupied all of Sphinx six months ago.

At first, they acted in secret.

But once they confird even if Magnus returned, he wouldn't be able to do much, they grew more brazen.

During this ti, the Lamb's Ho went bankrupt. The orphans were left holess, turning into petty thieves to survive.

Still, so held onto hope that White Wolf Magnus would return.

Until six months ago.

A gang of impostors posing as the White Wolf Pirates scamd the three pirates out of two hundred million Berries, then vanished.

It wasn't until half a month after the impostors fled that Dukeman and the others heard the rumor that the White Wolf Pirates had possibly disbanded—and realized they'd been duped.

Furious, the three pirates exploded in rage.

They had only paid up to avoid a bloody war that would benefit rival crews. It didn't an they were truly afraid of the White Wolf Pirates.

Unable to track the impostors, they swallowed the humiliation in silence. They couldn't even publicize the disgrace and tried to cover it up.

After that, a few more con groups tried using the White Wolf Pirates' na, but they were all caught by the three pirates.

That's why Iron Hand Jode from the Immortal Pirates approached Magnus today—he thought Magnus was just another fraud using the White Wolf's na.

Little did he know, he had kicked an iron wall.

This wasn't an impostor.

It was the real White Wolf Magnus!

"Captain, you have to avenge !"

Iron Hand Jode sobbed, holding his severed arm.

Most of his strength was in his powerful hands. Now that one was gone, his combat power had plumted. He might not even be able to hold onto his current position.

"Damn it, are you sure that was really White Wolf Magnus?"

Immortal Jason, wrapped in bandages, wore an annoyed expression.

At first, he'd dismissed the reports as another impersonator. But Jode's arm was really gone, and many pirates had witnessed Magnus split a small port town in half with a single slash.

That kind of strength wasn't sothing you could fake.

After fifteen years, White Wolf Magnus had returned—and he imdiately dealt a brutal blow to Jason's right-hand man, a clear warning shot.

"Damn old man, you're that old already. Why the hell can't you just die quietly?"

Jason's eyes burned with frustration.

Sphinx was a goldmine. Hundreds of pirate crews passed through every year. The fencing alone brought in over a billion Berries annually.

Over the years, Sphinx had developed into not only a hub for reselling stolen goods, but also a pleasure island sucking money from pirates.

Jason personally pocketed over a hundred million Berries a year in profit.

Giving that up would hurt more than death.

Once pirates reached a certain level, they no longer relied on simple plundering—which was ti-consuming, labor-intensive, and attracted Marine attention.

Instead, they built underground networks and ran gray businesses, profiting through influence.

Jason had invested too much into Sphinx. Giving it up would ruin him.

So, he decided to contact the other two pirate bosses on the island.

He didn't believe they'd be willing to hand over Sphinx either.

Sure enough, before he could even reach out, the two pirates ca to him.

The black-hearted rchant Dukeman.

And the giant brute Moz.

Dukeman was a middle-aged man with a curled mustache and black tailcoat. Moz, as his na suggested, was a towering monster over seven ters tall.

Rumor had it Moz had giant blood in his veins.

"We can't just give up Sphinx."

Dukeman spoke bluntly the mont he arrived.

"We spent years building Sphinx into what it is now. Magnus can't just waltz in and take it back. Nothing in this world is that easy."

He ignored the fact that Sphinx's developnt had originally been part of Magnus's plan. If they hadn't interfered, it might have thrived even more.

"Moz agrees."

Moz's deep voice rumbled.

"Money? None!"

"Life? Only one!"

Seeing that the other two pirates, both with higher bounties than himself, were unwilling to give up Sphinx, Jason grinned.

"From what I've gathered, the White Wolf Pirates aren't all here. Only Magnus showed up, and his two crewmates aren't strong."

If the entire crew had returned, Jason might have reconsidered fighting them head-on.

But just Magnus alone? That was a different story.

"We're all pirates with bounties over a hundred million. We have over ten thousand n between us. Even if he's White Wolf Magnus, he can't kill us all!"

Jason declared boldly.
