“Are you doing well in your studies?”
Karen-sama said, looking gently at the small version of Uncle Will.
Uncle Will remained silent, at a loss for an answer.
His little hand clutched the edge of Karen-sama’s flower-embroidered dress.
…I knew that he didn’t want to study, so he ran away.
But neither Grandfather nor Karen-sama seed to bla Uncle Will at all.
They might have thought it was naive, but I was certain that Uncle Will was a very talented person. Even though he left because he didn’t want to study, he had extraordinary abilities.
When I thought about it, I was probably just an ordinary girl compared to him.
I just had a little bit of magic power and a little bit of good athletic ability. I just put in a lot of effort in daily training, moreover. I was about the sa as other people, so to get close to a genius, I had to work harder than anyone else.
I doubt if trying was really worth it, though.
I simply wanted to be the person I desired to be. That was all that mattered, of course. Without that much effort, I would never be able to reach my ideal.
I thought about this as I looked at Uncle Will.
“You need to relax a little bit.”
When Grandfather said this, Uncle Will looked relieved.
“If I don’t have room in my heart, I won’t be able to think flexibly, will I?”
“That’s exactly as you say.”
“…But I have to get back to my studies after all.”
Uncle Will muttered in a small voice.
“What’s wrong?” Karen-sama tilted her head curiously, and Grandfather looked at Uncle Will with a surprised expression.
“I want to be smart and protect my mother and everyone else.”
I was srized by the beautiful sky-blue eyes that had not a single cloud in them.
I’ve never seen a child with such a strong and gentle will. I couldn’t help but say, “As expected of the remarkable Uncle Will,” or sothing like that.
Above all, it hurt to think that this little boy was about to fall into despair.
It was too late, but as I stared at Uncle Will, I prayed desperately.
Please, please protect this little boy. I prayed that there would be soone who would protect him, soone who would stand by him.
I thanked Uncle Will from the bottom of my heart that even though he had lost his magic, both eyes, and was banished from the royal palace, he was still alive.
It was because of Uncle Will’s refusal to give up on life that I was able to et him that day in the impoverished village.
…I owed Uncle Will a debt of gratitude that I would not be able to repay even if I spent the rest of my life. Uncle Will was an important family to who brought up to this point in my life.
It was strange that I was seriously fighting with Uncle Will right now. …But if we had not fought, I would never have looked into Uncle Will’s mories.
It felt strange to be looking into soone else’s mories. I wondered if one day soone would be able to see mine.
“I’m sure Will will make a great king.”
Karen-sama looked so beautiful as she smiled.
The scene slowly changed as Grandfather said, “I’m really looking forward to the future”.
