The rain gradually got heavier as it fell onto Mu Mingtang’s face and started dripping down her chin. Xie Xuanchen sighed when he saw this as he took her to a random eave to take shelter from the rain.
Xie Xuanchen grabbed a handkerchief and handed it to Mu Mingtang, “Wipe your face first.”
Mu Mingtang wanted to refuse, but Xie Xuanchen simply held her shoulders and was going to do it himself when he realised that she wasn’t moving. With that,
Mu Mingtang hurriedly agreed, “Okay, don’t move, I’ll do it myself.”
Mu Mingtang slowly wiped the water off her face. She had been in the rain for a long ti and that resulted in her face being cold. Moreover, her hair was twisted into clumps and they started to stick to her face as well. Xie Xuanchen saw that the delicate little face was entirely drenched by the water, but all it did was make her skin appear clearer and fairer. Her eyelashes were covered with tiny water droplets that threatened to fall whenever she made the slightest movents. When he saw that, it felt like he had an itch that he couldn’t scratch.
After Mu Mingtang wiped her face, she felt uncomfortable with her wet hair and wanted to twist and dry the handkerchief in order for her to wipe her hair. Xie Xuanchen saw it and took the handkerchief naturally, wringing it dry for her.
Mu Mingtang flashed a fleeting glance at him, as if surprised at his enthusiasm to help. The girl then squeezed the water out of her hair with his handkerchief tightly, but even that made Xie Xuanchen feel another itch.
“You are too weak, shall I help you?”
“No, no,” Mu Mingtang refused quickly, “It is not easy as my hair has grown this long, but I do not dare to trouble Second Young Master Xie.”
Xie Xuanchen looked quite regretful. At this ti, the rain beca heavier and the raindrops ford a line along the eaves, splashing streams of water in front of them. Mu Mingtang could see Xie Xuanchen’s side profile as soon as she looked up. His jaw looked like it was extrely delicate, but was accentuated with neat and smooth outlines towards the end.

After Mu Mingtang finished speaking, she realised that the handkerchief was one that she had used and imdiately beca embarrassed. Just as she was about to find a new handkerchief, she saw Xie Xuanchen take the handkerchief from her hand and casually wiped off the moisture on his face. If that wasn’t enough, he even held onto it closely after.
Mu Mingtang stared at his movents and her lips moved slightly, but finally, she gave up, too embarrassed to even take the handkerchief back.
The two of them stood side by side under the eaves, looking at the endless rain pouring outside. The sound of raindrops was all she could hear, as if this was the only place left in the world.
