“Tell how long it will take for them to learn that we are gone.” Mu Mingtang questioned as she was strolling among the bustling crowd.
“Hmm… It will be soon. That gatekeeper will bump into soone on her way to the inner palace and she will soon know that we had made a fool out of her. Realising her mistake, she will imdiately inform others. As long as they are not stupid, they will know where to search.” Xie Xuanchen replied while nodding his head.
When Mu Mingtang heard those words, she gasped and quickly held Xie Xuanchen’s hand and walked forward: “Then let’s go quickly, otherwise we’ll get caught…”
There was a stall which sold masks on the side of the road, and when the stall owner heard the conversation between Xie Xuanchen and Mu Mingtang, he seed to have made up so strange story of his own and gave them a suspicious look. Actually, such words would easily create misunderstandings if soone didn’t know the truth.
Mu Mingtang saw that the stall owner was giving them a strange look and eventually caught up with the thought process of the stall owner. So even though she was embarrassed, she wanted to play with his mind so deliberately said so dubious words: “Even if we are caught, we can escape again. So it’s not a big deal. But, is it really okay for us to do this behind your brother’s back?”
After hearing what Mu Mingtang said, the stall owner gasped and kept looking at the pair of husband and wife with utter disbelief. Xie Xuanchen was surprised by Mu Mingtang’s words. Unable to understand the aning behind her words, he asked, “What did you say?”
“Your brother is a good man. If we do this, it won’t last long.” Mu Mingtang replied with a pout.
As Xie Xuanchen understood what his dear wife was playing at, he laughed to hide his anger. However, he soon decided to join Mu Mingtang’s drama. He smiled coldly and with a vicious tone: “It’s okay. He’s dead for , anyway. I’ll kill anyone who dares to rob my woman. He knows I will take care of you, so he should be at ease.”
Mu Mingtang was shocked at first, but covered her expressions quickly. With her face covered under the veil, she walked away. As she walked, she pushed Xie Xuanchen’s hand away: “Don’t do this, I’m your sister-in-law, you can’t treat like this.”
The mask stall owner was dealt another blow. With a dropped jaw, he struggled to stand still as Mu Mingtang and Xie Xuanchen walked away.
Mu Mingtang walked away for a bit more until they were out of the stall owner’s sight and burst into laughter as she was unable to restrain herself any longer. As she continued to laugh, she realised that she was unable to control herself and eventually beca unable to stand.
“Ha ha haa… th..e stall owner… will definitely spread this story all over the capital ha ha…”
After imagining the aftereffects of her misdeeds, she started laughing again. Xie Xuanchen hooked his lower lip with a fake smile, and grabbed Mu Mingtang’s waist and pulled her over. “We won’t be able to continue like this for long, right, Sister-in-law?”
