Jiang Lai waved his hand to dispel the spatial barrier that could block sight and sound, and walked to Gojo Kyufuin together with Matsuda Jinpei.

Gojo Kyufuin still had the sa initial smile, jade hairpin holding up his black hair, his robes fluttering in the wind.

After Jiang Lai approached, he first bowed slightly, then his gaze moved down, falling on the golden Stitch figure on the ground.

"This is..."

"A cursed corpse." Jiang Lai replied very naturally, his gaze calm as he continued, "Cursed corpses and cursed tools are similar types of implents, not within the barrier's surveillance range."

By logic, barriers would only detect and mark the cursed energy of humans and cursed spirits. Cursed corpses, cursed tools and others wouldn't fall within the detection range.

Actually, the Detective Conan friends originally shouldn't fall within the detection range either. They were spirit shikigami, part of techniques, belonging to individuals.

However, currently Jiang Lai wasn't using a disguise but his true form. The Detective Conan friends were in a special independent existence state, in so sense approaching cursed spirits. So they might be detected.

Jiang Lai couldn't very well switch to his Little Sheep disguise to enter then switch back, as Gojo Kyufuin said he could only shield one type of main cursed energy aura. And the true form's cursed energy was different from the disguise's cursed energy.

The above was objective analysis. If subjective factors were mixed in, then perhaps Gojo Kyufuin's personal manipulation was involved, he was the gatekeeper, so naturally the rules were his to decide.

Hearing Jiang Lai's definition of the golden Stitch beside him, Gojo Kyufuin placed one hand by his lips, only paused for a mont, then replied gently, "Oh, of course. Cursed corpses are similar to cursed tools. However, I'm sowhat surprised you actually have such a cursed corpse."

With the idea that saying more leads to more mistakes, Jiang Lai didn't respond. He knew Gojo Kyufuin was just habitually probing with an extra sentence, he couldn't possibly see whose true form the cursed corpse was.

Zenin Naoya cooperated by staying silent, pretending to be an ordinary cursed corpse that understood nothing. He wasn't stupid, he knew when to shut up and when to speak.

The matter of the Zenin family's legitimate son's soul separating from his body and being placed in a cursed corpse, besides the parties involved and a few people at the high school, others didn't know.

The news the outside world received was only "the Zenin family's legitimate son bears a curse and has been in an unconscious bedridden state."

Sure enough, Gojo Kyufuin had no intention of investigating further. He quickly withdrew his gaze, turned aside, yielding so space, his posture elegant and reverent: "Please enter, I've specifically opened partial shielding for you."

Jiang Lai nodded slightly. He finally looked back at Morofushi Hiromitsu and Kurosawa Akira behind him.

Morofushi Hiromitsu's electronic screen drew a smiley face. Kurosawa Akira's screen showed a silver snake with big teary eyes in a cute expression pack, forming a sharp contrast with his usual cold deanor.

Jiang Lai couldn't help but curve his lips in a smile.

He waved his hand, bidding farewell to the two, and stepped into Kyoto's barrier.

The barrier covering Kyoto's exterior was transparent, but actually, that was a ans to deceive outsiders. This barrier had the function of obscuring the true internal scene.

Therefore, the real situation inside Kyoto was completely invisible from the periphery.

Before stepping into the barrier, Jiang Lai had already beco alert early on. He had long been ntally prepared to directly face the magnificent tragic scene like the ruins of ancient Heian-kyo City from a thousand years ago.

However, after a mont of confusion, what t his eyes was completely different from what Jiang Lai had imagined.

Before them was like a magnified tropical rainforest, with countless thick branches and tree roots erging from underground, coiled on the ground like earthen dragons.

Massive flower buds the size of teors climbed at the highest point of the central vines, with branches and leaves almost obscuring the entire sky.

Compared to these giant plants, Jiang Lai and his group were as small as insects on the ground.

"This..." Matsuda Jinpei was slightly stunned, his electronic screen displaying a searched image, "It's a bit like so apocalyptic disaster, a dungeon where plants rule."

Golden Stitch Zenin Naoya widened his eyes, unconsciously moving a step closer to Jiang Lai and Matsuda Jinpei, his entire body tense with alertness.

After his initial shock, Jiang Lai quickly ca to his senses. His gaze swept around, releasing so cursed energy to observe and analyze the environnt: "These plants aren't simple. Cursed energy continuously flows through them like transport tubes."

"Should we cut and burn them?" Matsuda Jinpei held his palm up, filled with crackling lightning, drawling, "Destroying them should cut off the core formation's supply, right?"

"I'm afraid it's not that simple." Jiang Lai stopped Matsuda Jinpei's action, shaking his head, "Let's focus on observation for now and not alert them yet."

"Hey, I say, are you sure we've entered Kyoto?" Zenin Naoya lowered his voice while still maintaining that young master tone, words squeezing out from between his teeth, "There's absolutely no human presence around here."

This area was extrely quiet. Besides the wind and their conversation, there were no additional sounds.

The once bustling and lively Kyoto now looked like a dead, abandoned city. Apart from the unbelievably tall plants, there were no other living things.

Sunlight overhead cast interwoven shadows on the ground, creating so strange and eerie atmosphere.

"This is Kyoto." Jiang Lai opened his phone to check the location, trusting Phone-kun's judgnt, "It's just that Kyoto seems to have encountered so situation."

"Probably can't be called just so situation." Matsuda Jinpei shrugged, "The current scene is like that program 'If Humans Suddenly Disappeared.'"

Where did all the people in Kyoto go? Jiang Lai thought to himself. But it definitely had to do with Brain-kun and these giant plants.

When Jiang Lai first saw this prehistoric rainforest scene, his first reaction was the technique of the Special Grade cursed spirit Hanami. But then he reconsidered and rejected this speculation.

Even a Special Grade cursed spirit couldn't perform techniques that covered an entire city and devoured all living beings. Moreover, Hanami had previously indicated she no longer trusted Brain-kun and had switched to backing him instead.

Brain-kun's announced new rules included cursed spirits as ga mbers, which actually wasn't friendly to cursed spirits.

Presumably all Special Grade cursed spirits could see that Brain-kun wasn't sincerely prepared to fulfill their wishes.

"Can we hurry up? I don't want to stay here long." Zenin Naoya raised his voice, rubbing his paws against his arms, his gaze warily scanning the surroundings as if worried those plants might suddenly attack him.

Jiang Lai considered for a mont and said: "Let's proceed according to plan. Go to the Zenin family first and prioritize dealing with the last tower."

Currently they were at Kyoto's outskirts. Perhaps if they walked further in toward the Big Three Families' location, the scenery might change.

Here, he didn't have Zenin Naoya lead the way to the Zenin family. After all, in the new series, this Zenin Naoya guy had spent years never leaving the family, so he was probably only familiar with the family's interior but completely unfamiliar with routes outside the family.

In this drastically changed scenario, positioning was better left to the true protagonist, Phone-kun.

The phone wouldn't be interfered with by any natural or unnatural factors, and its information was absolutely accurate.

Jiang Lai looked down at his phone, finding the location of the Zenin family residence.

"Follow ." Jiang Lai slightly restrained his cursed energy, surrounding himself with a layer of air barrier protection, "Stay alert to your surroundings on the road, don't let your guard down."

These plants currently looked non-aggressive, but that was just appearance. In such an unfamiliar environnt, vigilance was paramount, this was after all Brain-kun's base core.

The giant plants that had burst from the ground coiled on the cent roads, their breaking through the earth had shattered countless buildings. The ground was covered with broken stones and ruins, a complete ss everywhere.

But what was shocking was that even with such destructive scenes, there were still no bloodstains or corpses on the ground. The entire Kyoto was like a ghost city, with no trace of living human existence visible anywhere.

"...How much longer until we can leave? I say, this place really makes people uncomfortable." Golden Stitch Zenin Naoya couldn't help but speak again.

Matsuda Jinpei's expression was calm. As a frontline police officer, he was used to all kinds of bloody and bizarre scenes, and having been a ghost himself for so ti, his psychological resilience was strong.

Hearing Zenin Naoya's words, he turned his electronic screen face, a slightly teasing smile appeared above, then a smoking emoji popped up as he said: "Scared already? And you call yourself a Grade 1 jujutsu sorcerer."

"That was before! Look at now, I can't use my technique at all!" Zenin Naoya raised his voice in rebuttal, huffing, "Let's be clear, I'm only responsible for leading the way. You said you'd guarantee my safety."

"As long as you follow orders." Jiang Lai continued the conversation, his gaze steadily focused ahead.

Beyond the giant vine blocking their path ahead, they could reach the Zenin family residence.

Looking over now, he could vaguely see plants growing from the Zenin family's continuous buildings, coiled and mixed together.

It seed even the Zenin family, one of the Big Three Families, hadn't been spared. The entire Kyoto had been occupied by these giant plants that burst from the ground.

Jiang Lai thought this to himself, but still harbored so hope as he circled around the path ahead and arrived at the main gate of the Zenin family residence.

At this mont, the Zenin family no longer had barrier sealing. The originally closed main gate had been pushed open by unknown plants, with broken naplates hanging crookedly above.

Looking in from the entrance, the entire Zenin family was also deathly quiet.

Inside grew countless relatively smaller unknown plants, densely covering the ground. Wild grass buried what was once a prosperous family.

Stitch Naoya's steps beca sowhat stiff. He stood at the Zenin family entrance, his ears on both sides perked up, the fluffy tips standing erect.

"It looks like the sa situation here." Jiang Lai's gaze swept over the ground covered in wild grass ahead, "From these plant growths, it's even more severe than outside."

The so-called sanctuary was indeed a breeding ground, Jiang Lai thought. Temporary safety was protected for the purpose of slaughter together at the decisive mont.

Regardless, he still needed to investigate the [Noble and Base] Tower. This was the last tower, and if it could be destroyed, it would break the "immortality" of the Supervisory Committee's core mbers.

Speaking of which, when he had that conversation with the Zenin family head, they had speculated about this [Noble and Base] Tower, whose establishnt condition was the Zenin family's feudal system, operating and maintaining itself based on the Zenin family's order.

Brain-kun couldn't possibly actively destroy the Four Guardian Towers, so the current situation with the Zenin family appearing empty, was this Brain-kun's bug exploitation?

Although the Zenin clan mbers seed to have disappeared (Jiang Lai wasn't sure if they were dead or taken away), the noble and base system hadn't been abolished, aning it still remained. The tower could operate normally.

So how to break this deadlock...

Except for Zenin Maki and Zenin Mai who had long severed ties with the family, currently, the Zenin family's only survivor might be Zenin Naoya beside him, who had been secretly sent out early.

After brief consideration, Jiang Lai's gaze flowed and fell on golden Stitch Naoya.

He paused, finally saying: "Let's go, let's take a look inside."
