Fujiwara Reya slightly flexed his wrist.
He was never one to be pushed around.
So.
He was now prepared to fight.
In this great hall, the four big figures seated on the elevated platform all had so connection to him.
As long as he didn’t kill anyone outright, he wouldn’t have to face any consequences. As for the anger of the Inari Shrine, that naturally was a matter for the elders of the Kanto Region to handle; what did it matter to a young hothead like him.
Seeing Fujiwara Reya suddenly clenching his fist, a chill ran down Chief Priest Fujishima’s spine.
This brat couldn’t be thinking of starting a fight right here in the great hall... He hurriedly stood up, face stern, and rebuked Fujisima Futa: "Futa, cease this nonsense here. Do you have no sense of discipline? Step down imdiately."
The young juniors who had been making a ruckus quieted down again.
All eyes turned to the two people from the Inari Shrine, each one inwardly muttering: Just now, Chief Priest Fujishima didn’t seem to care about rules, but now that his side is losing, he suddenly rembers discipline. Shaless.
Not just the young juniors thought this way; even the shrewd elders at the board seats cast mocking glances at Chief Priest Fujishima’s performance.
Being laughed at by so many people, Chief Priest Fujishima felt his face flush.
He felt truly helpless!
Letting Fujisima Futa co out was ant to redirect everyone’s attention back to the conference topics, but who knew it would not only upset Chairman Kasahara’s little daughter but also cause Chairman Hoshimi’s daughter to jump in and create a disturbance.
It was truly unsettling.
Fujisima Futa, as the representative sent by the main headquarters, could not be allowed by Chief Priest Fujishima to be beaten by Fujiwara Reya in this great hall. That would be a complete disgrace for the entire Inari Shrine.
Therefore, Chief Priest Fujishima could only sacrifice his own face to preserve the face of the Inari Shrine.
But the problem was... the current Fujisima Futa seed to be getting sowhat aggressive. Faced with Chief Priest Fujishima’s reprimand, he appeared fierce and directly cursed, "You talk to about discipline?"
"..." Chief Priest Fujishima’s face darkened.
Fujisima Futa pointed at Fujiwara Reya with one finger, yelling at Chief Priest Fujishima, "Explain to , how does an Asakusa Shrine absent for decades have the rule to stand up here today!"
"Asakusa Shrine, being a mber of the Kanto Branch, naturally has the right to participate in the board eting." Chief Priest Fujishima held his breath but had no choice but to speak on behalf of Asakusa Shrine, "Regardless of whether they used to send soone to attend, Asakusa Shrine’s board seat has always been reserved."
"Are you really going to let this trash stay?" Fujisima Futa’s expression grew increasingly cold.
What a confounding creature, one unable to distinguish friend from foe... Chief Priest Fujishima thought bitterly but persisted, "This is the rule, you must not cause trouble!"
"Rules? Fine, let talk about rules too!" Fujisima Futa sneered, "According to Onmyo-ryo regulations, any yokai posing as a priest should be stripped of their priest status and be handed to the Law Enforcent Departnt for interrogation. Where is the Kanto Branch’s Law Enforcent Departnt? Are they all dead? Allowing a yokai to appear at the board eting? Today, I want to see just how absurd this Kanto Branch joke really is!"
"Before the outco is determined, he technically isn’t a yokai, so naturally, he has the right to be here." Chief Priest Fujishima was sowhat annoyed yet had to nice wardedly advise, "If he really is a yokai, after today’s conference, he will naturally be dealt with accordingly. Futa, you are causing a disruption here, which will only impede the progress of the eting!"
Speaking of this, Fujisima Futa’s excited expression finally eased a bit.
"A yokai, a dilapidated shrine, this is simply Onmyo-ryo’s sha..." Fujisima Futa’s blank face turned back to regard Fujiwara Reya, comnts laden with scorn, "Tsk tsk, Asakusa Shrine...was really famous decades ago! Now? It’s nothing but a ruin!"
"It’s being rebuilt, it’s being rebuilt." Fujiwara Reya responded with a polite smile, walking towards him.
"No matter how you rebuild it, it’s a ruin!" Fujisima Futa watched Fujiwara Reya co closer and closer, a glint in his eyes, "After today, the world will know, a ruin is a ruin! A waste is a waste! It can never rise again!"
The entire great hall was silent.
Why was this young generation from the Inari Shrine so hostile? Everyone more or less understood. The two previous generations of shrine maidens at Asakusa Shrine were famous geniuses, overshadowing all of Shintoism.
Considering themselves the true orthodox in the Kansai Region, naturally, they begrudged Asakusa Shrine.
It took their shrine maidens’ departure and the Asakusa Shrine turning into ruins for the Kanto Region to still maintain its prominence.
Even a single Hoshimi Rinko was enough to make them jealous to the brink of madness, let alone the little twinkling Kasahara Asuka.
Now there’s another person stepping up to rebuild Asakusa Shrine, leaving the Kansai people restless.
In the silence, the voice echoed.
Waste...ruin...joke...unable to recover...those piercing words, lingered long beneath the high ceilings of the great hall.
Fujiwara Reya, stepping forward, already had his fist clenched.
Of course, he knew where this hatred towards Asakusa Shrine and hostility towards himself ca from, but he didn’t care about whatever reasons these people might have. He focused solely on one thing—he was the priest of Asakusa Shrine, the sole priest.
Every blade of grass, piece of wood, brick, and stone of Asakusa Shrine was left to him by his mother, and he valued it, cherished it deeply.
He wouldn’t allow anyone to humiliate him.
