Chapter 1291: Chapter 1293 Phoenix Chapter 1291: Chapter 1293 Phoenix Song Jian passed through a screen of light that rippled like water waves and truly entered the underground structure that the Necromancer had spent over a hundred years building.

At that mont, the entire underground structure resembled an upside-down funnel, narrow at the top and imnsely huge at the bottom. Following a spiral staircase, Song Jian entered the whole subterranean architectural area.

anwhile, Tang Li on the ground suddenly discovered that nurous skeletal behemoths had been reduced to ashes, yet many skeletal behemoths were still clinging to their last breath under the searing of those dark red flas, entering a near-death state.

Excited, Tang Li drew out two daggers and pounced on the nearest skeletal behemoth.

Pfft~

The silver-flash of the daggers easily pierced the defense of the skeletal behemoth, stabbing into the green flas burning within its skull.

This was the undead fla sustaining the skeletal behemoth’s existence; if the skeletal behemoth were intact, Tang Li, with his strength, could never have hard the fla.

But now, the skeletal behemoth, in its death throes, could no longer maintain its defenses. Tang Li, without expending much effort, thrust directly into it.

The supposedly weak undead fla burst forth with a ‘pfft’ as the strike landed, dispersing into countless tiny sparkles, spilling out from the head of the skeletal behemoth.

The previously raised head of the skeletal behemoth fell silently, and with the loss of its sustaining force, its body collapsed with a thunderous crash into a pile of bones.

A pale golden treasure chest shimred amongst the pile of bones, and Tang Li discovered his Experience Points had shot up by about 5%.

“Although it’s a critically wounded monster, these monsters are more than twenty levels above . Just the cross-level experience is enough for to level up several tis…” Tang Li exclaid excitedly, having never before encountered such good fortune, with monsters twenty levels above him, nearly dead, for him to kill.

Tang Li didn’t bother to pick up the pale golden treasure chest and imdiately lunged at another monster that was in a near-death state.

Song Jian had eradicated hundreds of undead creatures in one swoop, obtaining experience that filled a large portion of his experience bar. Although he had not yet reached full level, he was only about six to seven percent away from leveling up.

The funnel-shaped underground complex was connected by a sturdy stone staircase, with massive palaces built here. The surrounding rock walls were embedded with lanterns that emitted a pale green light.

Song Jian even saw soul shadows, semi-transparent and writhing in anguish within the lanterns – the lanterns burned with the spirits of living creatures.

Along the way, Song Jian didn’t encounter a single monster. This allowed him to relax his guard slightly, although he did not know where the Necromancer had fled. But this was its lair, and as long as he followed the stone stairway down, he would surely find its trace.

At this ti, the Necromancer was at the very bottom of a vast space, the distance from the surface unknown. A huge purple-black fla hung like a black sun at the top of the last level, and within it, one could faintly see the virtual shadow of a Phoenix hidden.

One could see that the Phoenix seed to be in a deep sleep; its clear chirps, like whisperings, constantly emanated from the mini sun. The whole fla expanded and contracted with the Phoenix’s cries, as if it had its own life.

The Necromancer knelt on the ground, and before him lay a massive pentagram. From the center of this pentagram, strands of purple-black light were constantly being drawn out, rging into the miniature sun above him.

“O great Thanos, you are my only faith, I am willing to offer everything I have to you, to let you beco the sole ruler…”

The Necromancer kneeled before the pentagram, whispering his prayers, and with each word, the purple-black light within the pentagram grew increasingly dazzling.

Within the flas, the Phoenix feasted on the purple-black light from the pentagram. Accompanied by the Necromancer’s prayers, the murmuring of his incantations began ringing around the ears of the Phoenix, which, initially in slumber, beca agitated and its body started to tremble slightly.

Boom~

After an indeterminate amount of ti, the sun above suddenly burst apart, and a giant purple-black Phoenix slowly floated in midair, glaring at the Necromancer kneeling on the ground, its eyes filled with anger.

Song Jian descended the stone staircase slowly and suddenly heard a roar from below. At the sa ti, a hot, corrosive wave of heat erupted from below.

Before Song Jian could recover from his surprise, the sudden blast of hot air vanished, leaving only the scorching temperature in the air, confirming that all he experienced was no illusion.

“This sll…” Song Jian frowned deeply, and although the corrosive scent in the air was dissipating quickly, he had inadvertently inhaled a breath of it, instantly feeling a searing irritation in his respiratory tract.

At the sa ti, a powerful presence arose from below, growing stronger and stronger, making Song Jian feel as though a giant beast were awakening from its slumber.

Just then, Song Jian saw the quest in his taskbar was inexplicably marked as completed.

“Did the Necromancer die?” Song Jian’s face showed utter surprise. After all, that Necromancer possessed the strength of a King Level BOSS. Although the undead creatures he had summoned were annihilated by Song Jian in the hundreds with a single move, to a Necromancer, as long as the materials were sufficient, he could create as many undead creatures as he wished, so such a loss would hardly damage his own strength.

But now, such a formidable Necromancer had suddenly died, leaving Song Jian feeling not only surprised but also sowhat fearful.

After a mont’s hesitation, Song Jian turned and fled, quickly ascending the stone staircase toward the surface.

Deep underground, where the depth from the surface was unknown, a majestic man with purple-black hair, dressed in opulent purple-black robes, stood fuming at the bottom level. Before him was a charred shadow that had already seeped into the floor.

“You insignificant fool, how dare you…” A string of curses spewed from the mouth of the majestic man, and the overwhelming aura emanating from him stirred more wildly, causing the ground and rock walls around him to develop cracks. These fissures glead with a dark red light, as if rivers of magma were about to flow out of them.

At that mont, he suddenly looked up as if sensing sothing, and with a sharp cry, the man’s shape, like a black fla, flew up into the air.
