Chapter 1118: Chapter 1120 Traces_1 Chapter 1118: Chapter 1120 Traces_1 In the wilderness, Song Jian saw a group of players searching for monsters. They all wore the emblem of the City of Hope Alliance, which now was the only alliance in the City of Hope. Other guilds had either rged or left long ago. Song Jian stored his spider mount and walked toward them.

Seeing Song Jian, the players gathered around him.

“Lord Mayor.”

“Lord Mayor, have you also co to hunt the Abyss monsters?”

“We have already searched this area, boss. We didn’t find any Abyss monsters, so we plan to look further afield…”

The group buzzed around Song Jian with their questions and remarks. Those who called him Lord Mayor were generally those who had joined the alliance later, while the ones addressing him as boss were the old mbers who had been with Song Jian since the founding of the city.

“Everyone, be careful. I suspect there’s an Abyss Fortress nearby that we haven’t discovered yet. If anyone finds it first, give a shout in the alliance channel!” Song Jian instructed.

“Got it, boss, Wang Qi already briefed us. Also, if we encounter a large group of Abyss monsters, we will report it in the alliance channel as well!”

Song Jian nodded, then went to the area where the Abyss hyenas had been hunted and started to inspect carefully. By now, the bodies of the Abyss hyenas had been almost completely burnt by translucent flas, leaving behind only the hardest bones still afla.

A silvery light flashed in Song Jian’s eyes as he quietly activated his Eye of Insight skill. Transparent footprints of the Abyss hyenas soon appeared on the ground, surrounded by faint traces of dark aura. These footprints were quite blurred, stretching from the killing spot to a small grove of trees nearby.

Song Jian followed the footprints toward the grove and noticed that there were also three or four human footprints next to those of the hyenas. It seed other players had also found the trail and followed it.

Without using his skill, Song Jian probably wouldn’t have been able to discern any traces. This was partly because too much ti had passed, and partly because the other players had heavily disturbed the scene, making it difficult to investigate.

After deploying the Eye of Insight skill, he could only make out so vague semi-transparent footprints. This was the aid of the skill, allowing him to extract the information he needed from certain details.

However, these skill-revealed footprints would also fade over ti and eventually disappear completely. Song Jian needed to move quickly.

Following these footprints, he passed through a dense forest. The traces left by the Abyss hyenas were becoming scarcer, while the footprints of the other players had grown clearer. Eventually, Song Jian was no longer tracking the Abyss hyenas’ footprints but rather was following those of the players.

After crossing a forest and a prairie, Song Jian arrived in a desolate gobi. As far as he could see, hardly any vegetation grew; the land was covered with white salt efflorescence, and the air carried a faint salty-alkaline scent.

This area was designated for level fifty monsters and was seldom visited. Monsters were scarce here, making it unsuitable for leveling, and the saline-alkaline soil ant there were no herbs or ores to be found, which precluded the possibility of additional inco.

However, behind a large rock in the distance, several players were hiding there, peering ahead while quietly discussing among themselves.

Song Jian’s heart moved. Through the Eye of Insight, the footprints of these humans also spread all the way to the players in front and then disappeared. Clearly, these people were mbers of an alliance who had been following the tracks left by the Abyssal Hyenas all the way here.

Song Jian couldn’t help but admire these players. Even with the assistance of the Eye of Insight skill, the traces left by the Abyssal Hyenas only extended to the previous grassland and could no longer be seen. But these players had tracked them all the way here, obviously skilled individuals.

Song Jian didn’t conceal his presence and walked directly towards the players. When he was within fifty ters, one of the players with a pair of long ears, looking sowhat similar to an elf, suddenly tensed up, swiftly turned around, and held a short gun in each hand.

Her two companions also quickly turned around. One of them, a man wielding a sword and shield, instinctively stepped forward, half-raising his shield behind the other two, while another man took half a step forward and gripped a magic staff. Red-colored flas were visibly gathering towards him rapidly.

Song Jian’s eyes brightened. These three were clearly a team that had long been working in sync, possessing great rapport—a Bounty Hunter of Elf descent, a sword and shield profession, and a Mage class. These three might even know each other in the real world.

The trio relaxed their tense bodies slowly after they saw Song Jian’s face and exchanged glances.

“City Lord!” the three greeted Song Jian.

Smiling and nodding, Song Jian said to them, “You too were tracking the traces left by that pack of Abyssal Hyenas, right? Did you find anything?”

The girl with elf bloodline showed a trace of surprise on her face, which she quickly hid and said to Song Jian, “City Lord, we found a small town ahead. It seems to have appeared out of nowhere and looks quite eerie. We were discussing whether or not to explore it…”

Song Jian stepped forward, looking in the direction they pointed. Indeed, about four to five hundred ters away from where they were, there was a cluster of houses, most of which were low thatched cottages, but there were also so brick and stone two or three-story buildings, and even farther away, sothing that looked like a castle.

Around these buildings, a strange mist drifted. This mist seed dense but didn’t spread to the surroundings, remaining concentrated within the town, making all the houses appear indistinct and mysterious through the fog.

Most importantly, inside this town, there seed to be no sign of any living creature. It was completely silent, like a ghost town! That was why the three of them hesitated here for so long without taking action.

“It is indeed eerie!” Song Jian nodded and said. He could faintly sense threats from this town, indicating that there should be so powerful monsters inside.

“Do you think those Abyssal Hyenas ca out from this town?” Song Jian turned to look at the elf-blooded girl, who seed to play a leading role in the team and was the only one among them with robust tracking capabilities.

She nodded confidently, pointing ahead and said, “The traces of those Abyssal Hyenas extend all the way to that small town ahead. I’m certain they ca out from that town…”
