Chapter 1035: Chapter 1037: Epic Treasure Chest_1 Chapter 1035: Chapter 1037: Epic Treasure Chest_1 The dilapidated walls of the city, many of which had already collapsed, were still standing tall, covered in the mottled traces of the years. Cracks spread from the base all the way to the top of the walls, and signs of weathering were visible everywhere. It seed that they would collapse with the slightest touch.
This was an ancient rectangular city, probably only a quarter the size of the City of Hope, with a castle at its center that faintly revealed its forr glory and majesty. Song Jian felt that this city bore so resemblance to the human castles in the Assessnt World.
This was the abandoned fortress that Instructor Duan Jian had ntioned—it had once been the base of a legion of a splendid empire. After several hundred years, the empire no longer existed, and the stationed legion could not be found, leaving only remnants like the Magic Crystal Railgun to speak of the legion’s past might.
The fortress had many complex buildings, not all of which were military constructions; there were also nurous comrcial structures. Song Jian even spotted an auction house sign hanging at the top of a six-story building. The sign was already ancient and decaying, but the words “auction house” were still clearly visible.
The roads within the fortress were very spacious, wide enough to accommodate over a dozen people walking side by side. They were not made of ordinary cent or concrete but were composed of bluish stone slabs asuring over a ter squared each. Despite being eroded by hundreds of years, many of the stone slabs were still well-preserved.
Looking at the shops lining the streets, Song Jian could imagine the bustling scenes from the past and couldn’t help but enter several shops to explore, hoping to make so unexpected discoveries.
However, to his disappointnt, almost all the shops contained nothing of value. Even if there were so remaining pieces of equipnt, they were so eroded by ti that they turned to ash at the slightest touch.
On the streets, there were still so zombies clad in leather armor, wielding rifles in their hands, and carrying long swords on their backs, wandering incessantly.
“Rampaging Legion Soldier (Zombie), fifty level Elite, Vitality Points: 8000/8000”
In this abandoned fortress, even the lowest-level monsters were fifty-level Elite BOSSes. There were also quite a few lord-level monsters. Song Jian just took a quick glance and already noticed more than five lord-level BOSSes roaming among these elite soldiers.
Song Jian summoned the Sky-breaking Sword and locked on to a legion soldier in front of him, ready to use the Mysterious Moonlight Sword technique. Suddenly, he heard a “boom” from a shop in front of him. His body stalled, and as he looked up, he saw half of the shop wall suddenly collapse. A claw, the size of two grown n, reached out from the shop.
It was this massive claw that had toppled the wall of the shop. The nearby legion soldiers, including those lord-level team captains, all scrambled to avoid it, as if a fierce monster was hidden inside.
Boom~
A gigantic monster completely collapsed the shop, bricks and stones scattering in all directions. A giant werewolf, over five ters tall, appeared before Song Jian’s eyes.
“Fifty-nine level Dominance BOSS, Mutant Werewolf Legion Commander…” Song Jian narrowed his eyes. He felt threatened by this BOSS. To him, this Dominance BOSS even seed much stronger than the final BOSS in the level five Abyss Shadow instance.
If there were only this werewolf legion commander BOSS, Song Jian would be interested in having a fight with it. Perhaps it could survive till the fourth stage of the Karmic Fire Red Lotus Sword Formation, helping him improve his proficiency in the Thousand Swords Art.
But now, besides this Overlord-level werewolf legion commander BOSS, there are also a large number of Elite BOSSes and Lord BOSSes. Once a battle starts, it would probably draw the attention of all the monsters in the fortress and they would swarm over.
Song Jian wasn’t here to grind for levels or to fight BOSSes; he was here to complete a task.
With a thought, Song Jian used the Stealth Skill that ca with his epic necklace and entered into a stealth state, sneaking towards the interior of the fortress.
As he got closer to the werewolf legion commander, Song Jian even deliberately avoided it, but the werewolf legion commander still raised its head and sniffed vigorously as if it had slled sothing, emitting a series of angry roars.
“Good thing I didn’t get close. Otherwise, I’m afraid I would’ve already been discovered and forced into a combat state,” Song Jian thought, casting a distant glance at the werewolf legion commander.
Within the fortress, roads crisscrossed like a spider web, with occasional small squares that could accommodate five to six hundred people and so dead-end spots. These places were all occupied by Overlord-level skeletal BOSSes, and just one glance from afar had already caused these BOSSes to beco restless and uneasy.
“Lucky that a battle didn’t break out earlier, otherwise, in such an environnt, there would be no second option but to flee!” Song Jian thought with a lingering fear. He hadn’t expected the fortress to be a barracks harboring so many monsters.
Instructor Duan Jian had ntioned the bronze coffin but didn’t specify its exact location. He only said it was within the fortress. Song Jian searched every street carefully, scrutinizing any strong BOSSes or distinctive buildings.
He found that in the fortress, there were as many as twenty to thirty Overlord-level BOSSes whose levels were not visible, not to ntion the countless Lord-level and Elite-level BOSSes. Fortunately, he had the Stealth Skill; otherwise, finding the bronze coffin in this fortress would an having to clear out all the monsters, which could take a month to complete the epic-level task set by the instructor.
After searching for a long ti without finding the bronze coffin, Song Jian sighed while looking at the central castle of the fortress. He had no choice but to approach the castle.
The castle occupied one-fifth of the entire fortress area and was even taller than the fortress walls. There were three Overlord-level BOSSes just in the plaza in front of the castle’s gate. The level and number of monsters inside the castle would definitely be higher and greater.
Song Jian had originally held a sliver of hope, but now it seed that the bronze coffin ntioned by the instructor was probably within this castle.
Stealthily making his way to the castle, as he passed through a dark alley, Song Jian was suddenly drawn by a purple-red glow. At the end of this dark alley, there was an epic-level chest, quietly lying there, which surprised and delighted Song Jian.
In the ga world, chests do not respawn once opened. After encountering a chest when he first entered the ga, Song Jian had never co across any other chests again. He didn’t expect to find a chest in this place, and to top it off, an epic-level one—this was practically like picking up an epic-level equipnt for free.
