Chapter 510: Chapter 376: Finally Becoming an Immortal

The Immortal Gates were reopened.

The trite wars of the mundane world imdiately straightened up; what deep blood feuds, what long-standing grievances—none were comparable to the pursuit of cultivation.

Even for the few emperors and generals whose minds weren’t clear, no matter the reasons they continued waging wars, the result was always a violent death.

Cultivators wouldn’t care about mundane resentnts and feuds!

One after another, Daoist temples rose from the ground, established in the center of cities, their entrances guarded by Formation and Prohibition which tested one’s qualifications.

Anyone who touched it would know the quality of their Spirit Root.

To delay the coming of the next great calamity, the Heavenly Court specifically decreed that only those with at least two Spirit Roots were qualified to recite scriptures in the Daoist temples.

A Spirit Root was one in ten thousand, and to have dual Spirit Roots was even rarer; an entire city could barely muster thirty to fifty people.

Such strict selection in the marketplace made the emperors covetous of the path to everlasting immortality greatly dissatisfied with the Heavenly Court, and then they would abdicate the throne to the new ruler.

Mortals, in front of cultivators, had no qualification to negotiate terms.

Moreover, since the Heaven’s Gate had been closed for hundreds of years, there were no descendants of cultivators left in the Mortal World, not to ntion any talk of bloodline kinship.

Many sect cultivators who were trapped on mountains descended to look for disciples with high-quality qualifications; the Heavenly Court turned a blind eye to this, which beca the only path for those with inferior Spirit Roots.

During this period, countless legends of masters descending from the mountains erged in the Mortal World, compiled into storybooks spreading everywhere.

Such storybooks delighted common folk, who fantasized about becoming cultivators themselves, capable of having a harem and wealth that rivalled the world; yet in the eyes of human immortals and True Gods, these were but child’s play.

Heavenly Mountain.

Land of the Heavenly Leak.

Zhou Yi hadn’t descended the mountain for a thousand years, not knowing how many tis he had cast the Jade Dew Art; the Jianmu tree had already grown four to five hundred zhang tall.

The Jianmu tree grew atop the mountain, with its other end stretching into the spatial cracks. The chaotic spatial torrents had no effect on it.

The Spirit Ginseng child looked up at the sky and asked foolishly, “Another thousand years have passed, why hasn’t the Jianmu tree branched off yet?”

“Soon, soon!”

Zhou Yi, as always, placated him; the Heart of a Newborn was difficult in this way, stubbornly fixated on certain ideas.

The Spirit Ginseng child nodded repeatedly, bouncing around excitedly, when suddenly, it received a transmission of light and employed its Escape Skill to fly toward the east side of the mountain.

The Heaven-nding Sect began accepting disciples. Among them, there was one with a wooden Spiritual Body and a Wooden Heavenly Spiritual Root, naturally serene and calm, who beca friends with the Spirit Ginseng child, often gathering to play.

Zhou Yi continued to cast the Jade Dew Art, consuming his lifespan to hasten the maturation of the Jianmu tree.

“Imasurable Heavenly Honored One! Such labor as mine, harsher than the fate of oxen and horses, unheard of anyone else undertaking thousands of years of continuous work like Agent 007!”

“Even returning to void as a human immortal is this difficult, wouldn’t it be even more so to ascend to True Immortal? Would I not still be working for the Heavens?”

This was one of the reasons Zhou Yi chose to remain in this world.

After ascending to the Immortal Realm, without the mandate of Heaven, and not being the favored child of the Heavenly Court; how could one dare to brave the ninety-nine Heavenly Tribulations to break through to True Immortality?

Or perhaps linger for countless years, carefully and subserviently living, to luckily gather the required Spiritual Objects for the tribulation—it was better to enjoy freedom in this world.

“Continue the work!”

Zhou Yi’s eyes were slightly closed, as if in slumber, but his hands automatically ford spell gestures.

A Spell that had been cast continuously for a thousand years had beco a bodily instinct; as long as he didn’t stop, his hands could continue casting endlessly.

“It’s a pity that the electric Mokugyo doesn’t accumulate rits; otherwise, I would have been boundlessly ritorious long ago…”

In his hazy sleep, he heard the sound of a yellow ox.

Moo!

The yellow ox inquired whether after the Heaven-Severing Emperor, it was permitted for the Buddhist sect to ascend to the throne of Heaven’s Emperor.

Zhou Yi groggily woke up, his gaze sweeping over the mountaintop scenery which appeared to be in the depth of winter, covered in thick white snow, and even his own body was blanketed in white.

He shook his form, and snowflakes scattered.

Zhou Yi asked, “Has the Buddhist High Monk recompiled the Samsara Scripture yet?”

Moo!

The yellow ox said that the Buddhists dared not defy the will of the immortals; they had gathered countless High Monks from Spirit Mountain and recompiled the Samsara Scripture into the Samsara Taoist Scripture, no longer containing Buddhist principles.

Zhou Yi said, “Which monk contributed the most?”

Moo!

The yellow ox replied that Master Sheng Yun made the greatest contribution; he was the one who altered the core true aning of the Samsara Scripture without impacting the Samsara technique.

Zhou Yi nodded, “Then let Master Sheng Yun preside over the Heavenly Court.”

Moo!

The yellow ox agreed and transford into a fleeing light toward the Heavenly Court. When it cos to the major matter of changing Heaven’s Emperors, personal appearance was a must to show support and manifest the authority of the Heavenly Master.

Heavenly Master!

Now in the Dongsheng Divine Continent, it was no longer a matter of Daoist lineage inheritance but purely a na and a Daoist title.

Referring solely to Zhou Yi!

After all, no one understood why a re Divine Transformation Heavenly Monarch could live for so long.

In the past two thousand five hundred years, there would have been no lack of ambitious individuals, waiting for Zhou Yi’s death and trying to attract so human immortals and Demon Saints to stir up the order of the Dongsheng Divine Continent.

However, all the ambitious ones died of waiting, yet Zhou Yi was still lively and active on Heavenly Mountain.

Then, rumors spread that Zhou Yi wasn’t human, but rather from a long-lived demon race, such as dragon turtles or Xuanwu, with lifespans up to one hundred thousand years!

Various news, true and false, perplexed and mystified.

The Cultivation World gradually accepted that the Heavenly Court was controlled by the Heavenly Master from behind the scenes, with the Heaven’s Emperor sitting at the front, a forr and latter, and a yin and yang; over two thousand years, not a single disturbance had occurred.

No one disliked a stable cultivation environnt; there were already cultivators praying for the Heavenly Master’s Everlasting Immortality, so the Heavenly Court could be peaceful for ten thousand years!

Heaven’s Emperor Era, year 7100.

The Buddha Emperor, who had secured the throne, promulgated an important heavenly decree.

When the population of the Dongsheng Divine Continent reached its limit, the True Gods responsible for controlling childbirth began to cast Spells to prohibit fertility.

This was a solution conceived by the Spirit Mountain Buddhists during the isolation of Heaven’s Gate, able to effectively delay or even prevent the proliferation of living beings, thus avoiding the need to close the Immortal Gates.
