Chapter 474: Chapter 358: Innate Divine Power

Ten years later.

The morning sun was just beginning to blossom.

A baby’s cry broke the peaceful silence of the mountains.

Spiritual light shimred as several potent Spirit Pills, known for strengthening muscles and bones, rged into the infant’s body.

Instantly, the baby stopped crying, its black, shiny eyes glancing first at the mother, then at the father.

Zhao Yao showed none of the difficulties of childbirth, her mana circulating to restore her figure, her eyes sparkling with spiritual light as she checked the baby’s physical roots, but could not hide her disappointnt.

“Xuan’er also lacks a Spirit Root!”

The baby had already been nad before birth, Xuan, in mory of the grace taught by the ancestor Xuan Yi.

“Since ancient tis, a Spirit Root is a gift from the heavens; even the children of immortals have only a one in ten thousand chance.”

Yang Jin comforted her, “Yao’er need not be sad, our lifespans are long, we can slowly have more children, surely we will have a child with a Spirit Root!”

“Do you think I am what…”

In a shy and angry rebuke, Zhao Yao’s face turned slightly red, “Wouldn’t that make like a sow, bearing so many children I couldn’t possibly take care of them all.”

Pregnancy does not affect mana cultivation; however, caring for children afterward is troubleso and takes up much cultivation ti. Most cultivators in the Cultivation World choose to have no descendants or leave their offspring in the care of mortal families.

Mortals raise children to support them in old age, whereas cultivators have long lifespans and can easily outlive many generations of descendants.

Yang Jin said, “Moreover, it is not without solutions. After Xuan’er and Sisi have spread their branches and leaves, we could simply choose one with a Spirit Root and bring them up the mountain to cultivate.”

“Forget it, perhaps by then, I will no longer have the inclination to have children around .”

Zhao Yao sighed, “Xuan’er and Sisi left nine years ago, and although at first I missed them every day and night, now I’ve also grown accustod to their absence. Separated from mortals by immortals, it’s not the heartless individual, but rather the heartless way of heaven!”

At this point, Zhao Yao suddenly understood why her ancestor was indifferent to his descendants and unconcerned about their birth, aging, sickness, and death.

Separated by hundreds of generations and through continuous dilution, it is hard to say how much blood relation remains.

“If heaven is heartless, how then could I have t my wife?”

Yang Jin held Zhao Yao in his arms and spoke with deep affection, “Having t you, I desire nothing more…”

Giggles!

A series of crisp laughter rang out, and Yang Jin felt a considerable force that forcibly separated him from his wife.

Zhao Yao puzzled, “How can this little one have such strength just after being born?”

Yang Jin was unconcerned, “Perhaps he was born with divine strength and has been nourished by the Spirit Pill.”

The offspring of cultivators are nourished by mana and spiritual energy from the embryo stage, so so magical growth is normal, as long as there are no phenona such as purple qi from the east or the descent of celestial light—those would not count for much.

Giggles!

Yang Xuan let out a cheerful laugh, waving his arms, proving to the world, “Here I am!”

Several days later.

Zhao Yao watched in stunned silence as Yang Xuan crawled all over the house.

The black dog, which had been snatched to be a spiritual pet companion, was already two or three months old, yet its climbing speed was slower than that of Yang Xuan.

“Husband, there’s nothing wrong with Xuan’er, right?”

Yang Jin reassured, “He’s just several tis more robust than ordinary children, nothing to worry about.”

A few days went by.

Yang Xuan had learned to walk and, taking advantage of the ti his parents were practicing, he led his spiritual pet dog out the door. Were it not for the barriers of the formation and prohibition, it’s uncertain to what remote forests he might have ventured.

Zhao Yao frantically worried, “Are you sure this is all right?”

The Mysterious Primordial Sect’s scriptures state that the offspring of noble cultivators, nurtured with top-notch Spiritual dicine to bolster their roots, would also take a few months to walk.

Yang Xuan had only rged a few Spirit Pills at birth to strengthen his body and ensure immunity from illnesses; thereafter, he was sustained by Spirit Rice, yet his strength far exceeded the offspring of noble cultivators.

“It should… be fine?”

Yang Jin was also lacking confidence at this point, as Yang Xuan’s growth was bizarrely supernatural. At this rate, wouldn’t he begin to talk in a few days?

“My wife, rest assured, this is our son; so anomalies are a good thing!”

Indeed.

Half a month after birth.

Yang Xuan began to speak, his voice clear and crisp, with none of the blurriness in pronunciation or awkwardness in his sentences.

“Xuan’er really has a problem!”

Yang Jin’s expression grew somber, “Such a situation either indicates the reincarnation of a powerful being or the awakening of innate wisdom.”

Zhao Yao, puzzled, “How can Xuan’er reincarnate or awaken innate wisdom without even having a Spirit Root?”

“The two are unrelated.”

Yang Jin explained, “I have asked my great-uncle master who asserted that there are mortals without Spirit Roots who have awakened innate wisdom, yet without the qualification for cultivation, they can only silently die of old age.”

Awakening innate wisdom is not sothing to flaunt, for it brings risk of being captured by cultivators for a Soul Search—better to blend into the mortal world.

“Then I’ll call Xuan’er over to ask.”

With an excited expression on her face, Zhao Yao thought that if Yang Xuan was a reincarnation or possessed innate wisdom, his past life must have been a significant figure, which might earn the recognition of the ancestor, who could grant him a Spirit Root through spells.

But upon reflection, she was reluctant to have her son be a reincarnation, feeling like she was losing sothing!

Yang Xuan, who was playing chase with the dog in the courtyard, heard his mother calling and hopped and skipped into the house.

“Xuan’er, look into your mother’s eyes.”

Zhao Yao employed the Soul-Ensnaring Art, and seeing Yang Xuan’s eyes grow bewildered, she softly asked, “Xuan’er, do you have any mories of a past life?”

Yang Xuan shook his head in confusion, “No.”

“Have you awakened any innate wisdom?”

“No.”

“Do you have any unfamiliar mories?”

“No.”

Zhao Yao asked several questions in succession, then withdrew the Soul-Ensnaring Art, and helplessly said, “Xuan’er is just an ordinary person.”

“An ordinary person is good, very good!”

Yang Jin was of course aware it was not ordinary, but what could they do with such inexplicable phenona, abandon him in the wilderness or send him back into the cycle of reincarnation?

From then on.

Yang Jin paid extra attention to his son, his Divine Sense locked on him so he could detect anything unusual.

That he could crawl in three days, walk in ten, and talk in half a month was not yet considered extraordinary.
