After a long ti.

He balanced on one foot, looking at the situation not too far away, his face showing a shocked expression. He really didn’t expect to find a seemingly recently built shelter in such an apocalyptic world.

Standing high up and observing, he could see the people moving around inside the shelter.

"No way, there are actually people here?"

Unimaginable.

Then he looked around. Although there was a wall for protection, if zombies targeted them, the wall would be useless, and he couldn’t quite make sense of it.

But he still thought about going to take a look.

Wu Hao was riding his motorcycle towards the shelter.

He arrived at the entrance.

A closed tal gate blocked the way. The patrolling survivors saw Wu Hao arriving on his motorcycle, and the tal gate slowly opened, with two survivors walking out from inside.

"Hello, welco to the post-apocalypse rescue station. Please submit to an inspection, no weapons allowed inside."

Facing such a request, Wu Hao could understand.

Coming to an unfamiliar place, submitting to an inspection was inevitable. He spread his arms, waiting for the other party’s inspection.

"Rest assured, I don’t have any weapons on ."

After checking, the two survivors indeed didn’t find any weapons on Wu Hao, but they did find a satellite phone, which left them a bit puzzled. In this apocalypse, instead of carrying weapons, he carried a phone. They couldn’t figure out what he was thinking.

While Wu Hao was still thinking about engaging in a conversation with them, they directly took his motorcycle away, even taking the satellite phone, leaving him standing there in bewildernt.

"Hey, what am I supposed to do? Where are you taking my motorcycle?"

"And my phone..."

He asked, but the two of them completely ignored Wu Hao.

"What the hell is going on here?"

Wu Hao looked around at the passersby in confusion.

"Hello."

"Hi."

The group of passersby greeted him with smiles, seeming very friendly. But whenever he tried to talk to them, they walked away hurriedly as if they had sothing urgent to handle.

At this mont.

A woman ca up to Wu Hao.

"You’re a new survivor, right?"

She was a young woman, probably in her twenties, dressed in camouflage combat gear. Even in the apocalypse, she had light makeup on her face.

Wu Hao said, "Hello, my na is Wu Hao. I saw a shelter here and ca to take a look, not intending to stay here. They’ve taken my motorcycle. Could you return it to so I can leave?"

The woman replied, "I’m sorry, I’m not in charge of that. If you want your motorcycle back, you’ll have to find the person responsible. I ca just to inform you about the rules here and the things you need to do. If you want to survive, you’ll have to rely on your own efforts."

"Who should I talk to?" Wu Hao felt the shelter was kind of strange, but he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what was strange about it. It just felt very odd.

"You’ll find out soon enough. This booklet contains the rules here. Read it, and you’ll know." The woman handed Wu Hao a small booklet, about palm-sized, then turned and left.

Holding the booklet, Wu Hao opened his mouth, wanting to say sothing, but the woman was already walking away into the distance, leaving him with countless thoughts stuck in his mind, reduced to just two words.

"What the hell..."

Wu Hao looked at the wooden cottages around him, plunged into deep confusion, and eventually went to a corner, squatting there, flipping through the booklet to see what was inside.

A mont later.

Wu Hao, having finished reading the booklet, felt an unrest stirring within him.

This shelter was very strictly managed. For the survivors who ca here, the shelter did not provide any free food, only ensuring personal safety. To get food, you need to find work in the shelter and prove your own value.

"I want to leave here. I’m looking for my mom," Wu Hao muttered to himself.

Suddenly.

Creak!

The door of the house opened.

Wu Hao looked up and made eye contact with a girl using crutches. Feeling the atmosphere was a bit awkward, Wu Hao smiled politely.

The girl with crutches nodded, finding Wu Hao unfamiliar, "Are you new here?"

"Yes, new here. I’m not sure about what’s going on here. Could you tell ?" Wu Hao felt like he needed to understand more thoroughly, soone familiar with the place would be the best to tell him.

The girl glanced around, then pondered, finally nodding, "Co inside."

"Thank you." Wu Hao was very happy, finally eting soone who seed relatively normal.

Entering the house.

Wu Hao examined the environnt inside; it was very simple, with no decorations. But being able to have a place to stay amid the apocalypse was already quite good, so there was no need to pursue anything extravagant.

"Thank you, my na is Wu Hao." Wu Hao introduced himself.

The girl said, "You can call Xiaohui."

Wu Hao said, "Xiaohui, could you tell about the situation here? I feel like the people here seem a bit strange."

Xiaohui said, "I’ve been here for about a month, and at first, I felt the sa way as you, but I got used to it after a while. People living here all need to work. Only by working do you get food. If you don’t work, no one cares even if you starve."

"I understand that." Wu Hao nodded, understanding the situation of working for food. After all, it’s the apocalypse now, and no one would want to support idle individuals.
