He pondered, and with each thought, his mood beca increasingly jubilant.
Before long,
the vehicle entered Salt City and was nearing the shelter.
Dai Quan surveyed the surroundings, his brows slightly furrowed. "Strange, there are so few zombies in this area. It just feels odd."
His companion observed as well.
"Maybe they drew the zombies away. There aren’t many zombie corpses around on the ground, so I think it’s highly likely they were lured away."
"Choosing a shelter in the city, they do have so skill."
"Anyway, we should stay alert once we get there, to avoid any mishaps."
They concealed their weapons at their waists, ready for action at a mont’s notice.
The vehicle ca to a stop.
He Jiaju got out of the car, ca to the front of their vehicle, and knocked on the window, "We’re here; this is the shelter."
Dai Quan said, "You’ve done well, choosing a shelter in the city, and there are no zombies around. How did you manage that?"
He Jiaju smiled and said, "To be honest, I’m also an Awakener, but my ability is quite simple. I can move freely among the zombies without them seeing , and I drew all the nearby zombies away using this ability."
Hearing this, they appeared very surprised.
They hadn’t expected this guy to be an Awakener, too.
"That’s badass. Such an ability is simply invincible. With this ability, you could go anywhere in the world, even dance in front of zombies without a problem."
Dai Quan was sowhat envious of this ability.
It really was powerful.
If he had such an ability, and a slightly more robust physique, he could swagger around the city without hiding, checking if any sisters were trapped in rooms. Then he could knock on their doors with supplies in tow, and really get to know the other ’water gates’ deeply.
Hmm... Perfect, the very thought was exhilarating.
He Jiaju said, "It’s alright. I can only do so simple things. Let’s head inside the shelter for now. I’ve arranged for a lavish al to welco you all."
Dai Quan and his companions disembarked.
They walked into the shelter.
They assessed the shelter’s condition, which was much simpler than they had imagined, lacking many defensive installations, as though soone had just moved in.
Following He Jiaju’s return,
all the curious survivors gathered around.
They had been here for so ti, and during that ti, they had felt sothing was especially off, though they couldn’t quite pinpoint what.
Dai Quan looked around expectantly.
But when he saw that all the survivors who erged were n, his mood soured considerably.
"Brother He, where are the sisters you ntioned?"
Dai Quan couldn’t help but ask.
Damn!
He Jiaju felt an urge to explode Dai Quan’s head. Goddammit, this guy’s head was filled with worms, talking casually before, and now asking eagerly as soon as they arrived.
Frankly, he had never t soone like this.
"Heh, don’t rush, don’t rush," He Jiaju said with a smile.
Dai Quan’s face fell. "Brother, you better not be playing a trick on us, luring us here on purpose, right?"
"How could that be? In these apocalyptic tis, what I’m thinking is that we should all co together to face the onset of the end. Look at the survivors here; they all gathered bit by bit. I was about to..."
Splat!
The sound of flesh being pierced.
It ca with the shrill cries of terror.
He Jiaju clutched his neck, his eyes wide with disbelief, looking at Dai Quan, who held the bloody dagger. He truly hadn’t expected such a thing to happen.
Everything was fine, so why stab him in the neck?
"You..."
He Jiaju raised his hand, pointing at Dai Quan, wanting to ask why, but the severe pain in his throat made it difficult to speak.
Dai Quan grinned sinisterly. "I’ve said that if I get angry, the consequences are serious. You damn well did it on purpose to make mad. How could I tolerate you?"
He Jiaju really wanted to say, "Are you crazy?"
But those words ultimately remained unspoken.
He collapsed with a thud.
To his death, he couldn’t understand why such a person existed. Could it be that the apocalypse made so people go insane, to the point of utter madness?
The other three Awakeners casually watched the scene.
This was not a big deal for them.
On their journey, too many similar incidents had occurred.
All of them knew that Dai Quan liked to make his move when the other party was unaware, perhaps because they had cursed at him. What seed like an ordinary curse to anyone else, Dai Quan would take to heart, constantly thinking of how to kill you.
At that mont,
Dai Quan looked at the group of trembling survivors, stroking his chin. "Answer honestly, do you have any girls here?"
The nervous survivors dared not speak.
After all, in their eyes, the man before them was akin to an executioner, decisive and ruthless, never giving anyone the chance to react.
In one mont they’d be talking just fine,
and then suddenly, such an incident would occur.
Dai Quan approached one of the survivors, flashed a grin, and said, "What do you say, does your shelter have any girls?"
The inquired survivor, a man, couldn’t help but tremble as he started to stamr, "I... I... "
Splat!
Dai Quan’s dagger pierced straight through the man’s neck.
Swift and bloody, an unmistakable signal of his ruthlessness that struck fear into everyone present.
"Stuttering wastes ti; I hope no one does that in front of ."
Dai Quan approached another survivor, "You tell ."
"Yes."
The survivor inquired by Dai Quan didn’t dare hesitate or even take a mont to think.
