"Big brother, I didn’t, it was all talk, you can’t believe what I say, it’s all nonsense."
Lin Fan paid no attention.
There was a ’hehe’ sound outside.
"He’s back."
Lin Fan said.
Upon hearing this, Jin Ding abruptly looked up, "Who?"
Nervous, scared, he would not believe anyone who could appear here was normal.
Imdiately following.
The ’hehe’ sound drew closer.
Jin Ding and his follower heard the distinctive sound of zombies, and when a zombie appeared at the door, they were thoroughly frightened, their faces pallid. They thought that once the zombie saw a living person, it would definitely attack, and with Lin Fan at the door, the zombie would bite him first.
But... damn it, impossible.
Jin Ding and his follower widened their eyes.
They saw Lin Fan greeting the zombie, calling it Officer Huang. Jin Ding looked at the zombie and, for so reason, the more he looked, the more familiar it seed, like a police officer he had seen before.
"Huang Guan..."
Jin Ding instantly rembered who he was.
Officer Huang made a ’hehe’ sound, his grey-white eyes moving as if sniffing a certain scent. He pounced towards the follower, opened his mouth wide, and viciously bit into the neck.
With a squelch, the sound of tearing flesh could be heard.
"Ah, save ... Big brother, don’t screw with , I’m really sorry," Jin Ding scread heartbreakingly, his groin wet as he was completely terrified by the scene in front of him.
He had seen others bitten by zombies, but he never imagined that he’d be watching it from such a close distance, and that the biting would be so bloody.
Lin Fan watched indifferently.
The scene before him was indeed bloody, but in Lin Fan’s eyes, it was all so ordinary, even his heart was without a ripple. He, who had always thought of exterminating zombies, wondered why he could watch such a thing happen.
In his heart.
Socalled benevolence must be founded on justice; benevolence without justice is a chasm that devours others.
"Save , I belong to Boss He, if I don’t return, Boss He will definitely know you did it, you’ll be making an enemy of the Lucky, making an enemy of Boss He."
Officer Huang seed to have reached the pinnacle of his hatred for Jin Ding.
He grabbed his head, pulling and twisting, one bite to the neck; the neck was snapped, the head rolled onto the ground, and Jin Ding’s eyes of despair t Lin Fan’s.
Lin Fan sighed, "Officer Huang, you’ve made this place dirty again, never cleaning up after yourself, leaving it to , an ordinary citizen, to clean up the ss."
It was just a comnt.
No other thoughts, not even a complaint. Becoming a zombie, Officer Huang was inevitably a bit inconvenient, otherwise, it would not be like this.
Officer Huang ’hehe’ed past Lin Fan, ignoring him, and walked towards the distance.
"Officer Huang, have a good trip."
With a wave of hand.
He started the cleanup, tidying the police station.
...
...
Inside the city, on the overpass.
Two vehicles were driving along, a modified truck leading the way, followed by a modified bus.
In the truck’s cab were two survivors.
A man and a woman.
The man, with dark skin, was called Ma Weiyan. Before the apocalypse, he was a security guard at a company. Although he was young to be a guard, he didn’t think it was a bad job. Instead, he considered himself smart for having avoided thirty years of detours by finding the right path early on.
After all, working in a factory, you’d end up as a security guard anyway, so why take a detour?
The woman was nad Qiu Bing, a female physical education teacher at a school, who beca a teacher after graduating from an athletics college.
They both should have had bright futures.
But who could have anticipated the apocalypse, which left them utterly bewildered.
Ma Weiyan drove slowly, not speeding up. There were no zombies on the overpass yet, and it was very likely to encounter them once off of it, so it was important to have a short respite.
He fumbled in his pocket for his sole remaining cigarette, Liqun. Lighting it, he took a deep drag. In this environnt, the cigarette could relieve the tension in his heart.
"How’s the map looking, where should we head next?" Ma Weiyan asked.
Qiu Bing put down the map she was holding, "Still searching. The situation in He City might be a lot better than we expected. Yesterday, the four survivors we t had vehicles that were heavily modified. If they can survive in He City, there must be shelters. Moreover, the zombie pressure in He City surely isn’t as terrible as it is in Weiyuan."
Ma Weiyan said with resignation, "Damn it, what a fine society we had, to end up like this. It’s like those movies I’ve seen, driving everywhere, roaming around. We thought we could stay in a shelter in Weiyuan, but who would have thought... sigh."
Whenever he thought of that scene, he felt incredibly terrified.
The group of zombies that appeared weren’t ordinary ones, but evolutionary zombies—truly horrifying. Even with strong defenses, they crumbled instantly against those evolutionary zombies.
"Let’s take a break, there are no zombies around."
Ma Weiyan stopped the car and the bus behind him also slowed to a halt.
Qiu Bing, with a rifle slung over her shoulder, vigilantly scanned the area, then gazed towards the distant He Cityscape, which wasn’t as bad as Weiyuan. In Weiyuan, you could hear zombies roaring and buildings exploding everywhere, but here, it was quiet.
Ma Weiyan communicated with the people in the bus. There were six adults and thirteen children on the bus, boys and girls, the youngest six and the oldest thirteen.
"Brother Ma, let have a drag of that cigarette."
"Don’t rush, you go get so bread and water for the kids first, make sure their bellies are full. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely save a few drags for you."
