Fishing was no longer an option.

Raising his head to gaze into the water, he saw the obese zombie flounder once before slowly sinking deeper, until it disappeared without a trace, becoming just a shadow.

With his fishing gear in hand, he reeled in a grass carp, and happily rode his electric bike towards the residential area.

Sunshine District.

He returned the electric bike to the broker first, then, carrying his stuff, he went back into the district.

"Lin Fan, with that outfit... did you go fishing?"

Wang Kai was extrely astonished. He used to enjoy fishing as well, but later, due to his busy work schedule, he didn’t have the energy for it, leading to a long hiatus.

"Yeah, I passed by a fishing store and thought there might be fish in the Tide River, so I gave it a try. I was pretty lucky and managed to catch a fish."

Lin Fan replied with a smile. Fishing was all about patience; at first, technical issues would definitely limit his catch, but as long as he persisted, he would see great rewards.

"Not bad at all."

These days, in the post-apocalyptic world, probably only Lin Fan could afford to fish so leisurely. Wang Kai never understood why Lin Fan was so brave, almost no different from a Super Soldier. Could it be that Lin Fan had injected so kind of gene drug or been exposed to a teorite from outer space that caused a genetic mutation, giving him extraordinary strength?

This was a question worth pondering.

Lin Fan said, "Later, I’ll take you to the water plant; I have quite a few things to do this afternoon."

"Okay."

Wang Kai nodded, then went to look for the dog. He had no idea where it had gone; they had co downstairs together, but in the blink of an eye, it had disappeared.

He had a terrifying thought.

The dog hadn’t run off to eat poop, had it?

When they were surviving in the water plant, they had to eat, drink, and relieve themselves all in that cramped room. Sotis, the dog would sneakily eat his excrent.

He knew that it was the dog’s way of protecting him, since a clean environnt was important. The dog hoped to ensure he had a clean space to live in.

Just thinking about how the dog, after finishing its business, would co over and nuzzle against his leg, occasionally eyeing the dog poop, brought a certain realization... the dog’s intent might very well have been...

I ate yours.

It’s only fair that you eat mine.

Room 204.

Li i was in Yang Hui’s room, holding ngng and chatting idly with Yang Hui about various won’s matters.

Li i was concerned about Yang Hui’s mood. Won who had just given birth often felt anxious and vulnerable, easily falling into postpartum depression, a condition that required attention and should not be taken lightly.

There were nurous news stories of new mothers who, due to postpartum depression, had committed suicide by jumping off buildings.

Li i was particularly wary of this situation.

Hence, after managing her various tasks, she would co and engage in casual conversation with Yang Hui, sharing happy topics instead of dwelling on the unpleasant.

"Li i, do you really think my child can grow up healthy?" Yang Hui asked with a calm tone, looking at the baby lying beside her with indescribable worry.

Even though nothing had happened yet, she always felt like there was no hope for the future.

Li i observed Yang Hui’s condition.

Once upon a ti, she had been a young girl herself. When she fell pregnant, she joked with her husband, "What if I get postpartum depression, what then?"

She had even researched the topic online.

The three symptoms of postpartum depression: feeling down, loss of interest, and lack of energy.

Other possible symptoms included anxiety, tension, insomnia, reduced appetite, weight loss, and psychotic episodes.

Li i sat by the bed, holding Yang Hui’s hand, "Sister, why are you talking like that? How could your child not grow up healthy? Look at ngng in my arms. Her ordeal is heartbreaking. I heard from Lin Fan that to keep her alive, her mother tied her to herself and then hanged herself."

"So no matter what, you must be strong and have hope for the future."

"Every survivor in Sunshine District will help you."

She spoke softly, hoping Yang Hui could understand that even amidst crisis, they had to stay strong, for themselves and for the sake of their children.

Yang Hui seed to feel the power of her words, "Thank you, Li i, I understand now."

Li i nodded, relieved. She had been through it all herself, having felt hopeless and even considered the release of death, but the thought of Feifei kept her alive. She knew she had to take good care of her child.

Finally... heaven took pity on her and brought her to Lin Fan. In him, she found hope, a vision for the future, and the brilliance of humanity amidst the apocalypse, which strengthened her resolve, made her cherish Sunshine District, and left her grateful for everything Lin Fan had provided.

If danger lood, she would defend the safety of the district with her life because it wasn’t just a safe haven anymore; it was also the foundation of her hope for the future.

Footsteps approached.

"Lin Fan, you’re here."

Li i grinned at the sight of Lin Fan, his presence bringing her overwhelming relief. This reassuring feeling wasn’t one of ulterior motives, but one of peace of mind. She had always believed that Lin Fan carried a power capable of reaching deep into others’ hearts.

Lin Fan smiled and said, "Li i, I’ve caught a grass carp and brought it to make so nutritious soup for her."

Li i replied, "Leave it in the kitchen, and I’ll cook it for lunch later."

"All right," Lin Fan headed to the kitchen.

Li i turned to Yang Hui, "You see? Everyone cares about your health. You need to be strong, so in the future, we can all make contributions to the district."
