Open the door.
"Little Yan, do you need sothing?"
He had intended to call her Miss Yan, but she had told him before that she could be referred to as Nini or Little Yan.
Of course, the na Nini didn’t seem appropriate.
In Sunshine District, there were already Feifei, Tingting, ngng, and Jiujiu, adding another Nini just felt weird.
Standing at the door, Yan Nini had recovered very well, her beauty had reached its peak, and her figure was very nice, wearing jeans, she had an indescribable charm.
"Lin Fan, may I co in and talk?" Yan Nini’s cheeks were slightly flushed, as if she had sothing difficult to express.
"Sure." Lin Fan stepped aside, making way in the hallway for her to co in, "You’re the second young woman to co to my place, the first was my neighbor, but I killed her."
As Yan Nini stepped into the house and heard these words, her complexion changed with shock, clearly startled.
"Lin Fan, you do say the funniest things," chuckled Yan Nini.
She simply couldn’t believe Lin Fan would do such a thing.
Although she hadn’t known him for long, Yan Nini could feel that Lin Fan had a warm heart, that he was a kind person with a lot of spirit.
Lin Fan smiled and didn’t explain; so things are better left unsaid, the more you explain, the more confusing it becos. Since she thought his comnt was funny, let it be just that.
The living room, the sofa.
Lin Fan brought over so tea, having a guest over ant there wasn’t much to offer, but at least he had the basics like hot water. Then he sat down at a safe distance from Yan Nini.
"Little Yan, is sothing the matter?" Lin Fan asked.
She had co looking for him right after lunch, so it likely wasn’t just small talk. Her face gave her away. Of course, even if it was just a casual chat, he was patient enough to converse casually.
After all, in a post-apocalyptic world, aside from himself, everyone seed to be repressing sothing, their spirits suffering in one way or another.
He thought he might want to rent a book on psychology from the library and study it so that once he had so expertise, he could offer psychological counseling. Perhaps it could also earn him so side inco to help with household expenses.
"Lin Fan, could you help buy so stuff? My ’relative’ is visiting," said Yan Nini shyly.
"Relatives..." Lin Fan was montarily taken aback, then suddenly, he understood, "Oh, I get it, I know. I actually forgot to stock up on those supplies. What brand and style do you need?"
He wasn’t ignorant, getting the hint. A woman’s period with bleeding and cramps was indeed troubleso in an apocalyptic world.
"Whatever is fine," Yan Nini mumbled, not expecting Lin Fan to be so forthright with his question. Although it wasn’t sothing to be embarrassed about, she had only known Lin Fan for two days, and the directness of the inquiry made her feel a bit weird.
"This is a personal item, ’whatever’ can’t be too careless; comfort is the most important thing. If it’s not comfortable, it defeats the purpose. I’ve seen a forr colleague use them, I think she used Sophie. What do you think about Sophie?" Lin Fan said.
"Sure," Yan Nini nodded.
"Alright then, don’t worry. I’ll be going out this afternoon and will bring them back for you."
Lin Fan thought about Li Jie and Yang Hui’s needs; they would definitely need them too. As for the two grannies, they surely wouldn’t, considering their age they shouldn’t have this kind of need.
"Thank you, Lin Fan." Yan Nini was grateful. The apocalypse was really unfriendly to won, the inconvenience of nstruation without sanitary pads was hard to manage. Logically, if the apocalypse had to co, it should have at least relieved won from their periods, that would have been fairer.
"No need to thank . I’m the security guard of Sunshine District, protecting the district is my job, and running errands is fine too. As for the travel cost, fifty bucks will do; it’s on my way anyway," Lin Fan said with a smile.
He thought about the hundred bucks Yan Nini had tipped him before, and now, he was about to earn fifty back, which felt pretty good.
"Ok, that’s fine," Yan Nini could sowhat understand Lin Fan’s reasoning. The old master had taught them how to interpret Lin Fan’s way of thinking, and it seed logical and without issue.
...
The water facility.
Lin Fan hadn’t rested for long at ho before he took Wang Kai to patrol the water facility, a daily necessity. The water from the facility supplied the entire city, crucial for every survivor.
Lin Fan and his dog followed Wang Kai.
With Lin Fan’s protection, Wang Kai had no fear.
Standing in front of the machinery, he fiddled with it slowly, and checked carefully for any unnoticed issues; there was no rush, they had ti.
After quite so ti.
"Lin Fan, it’s done, we can go back now," Wang Kai said.
It was at the water facility where he felt useful.
No one wants to be seen as useless.
In the past, he liked to slack off at the facility, but now, he was the only one capable of operating the equipnt and understanding the facility’s process. If he didn’t do it, who would? It wasn’t just about supplying water to Sunshine District, but to other survivors as well.
On the way back, they crossed the earlier bridge.
Music sounded from beneath the bridge.
It was pumping.
As if a party was going on.
After parking the electric bike, they stopped at the head of the bridge and looked down to see a yacht moving along the river. There were people dancing on the yacht, and so sitting by the side, fishing.
"They’re survivors," Wang Kai said.
"I see them, a total of five people, three won and two n," Lin Fan nodded. This was the first ti he had seen survivors on the river.
