"Did that really work?"
The survivors on the truck stared in disbelief; they hadn’t expected the problem to be solved so easily. It was beyond their imagination.
After dealing with the zombies.
Wu Hao approached the truck to check its condition; he had so experience in car repairs.
The survivors stepped down from the truck and ca to the front.
"Bro, you know how to fix cars?"
They directly elevated Wu Hao’s title to ’Bro.’
This was their way of showing respect to Wu Hao.
It was an expression of the gratitude in their hearts.
"A little bit."
Wu Hao casually tinkered for a while, "Start it up and see."
"Oh."
The survivor quickly started the truck, and the engine ran, really ca to life.
"It’s fixed, the truck’s fixed!" The survivor who started the truck shouted excitedly.
The other survivors also breathed a sigh of relief, then looked at their fellow who tried fixing the car earlier. Although they said nothing, their gaze clearly conveyed, "Look at our Bro, then look at you; his skill levels are just incomparable, right?"
Wu Hao said, "Since the truck is fixed, you should get going. I should be leaving too. Oh, by the way, have you guys heard of the ’Zombie Album’?"
"No." The survivors shook their heads, unfamiliar with the ’Zombie Album’; they hadn’t heard of it at all.
Wu Hao took the album from the back of his motorcycle, "This is it. You can take a look. Although it’s an apocalypse now, there’s actually a shelter in Huangshi called Sunshine Shelter where many people live safely. If you find a satellite phone, you can call them; they’ll send soone to pick you up."
"Ah..." The survivors were shocked by what Wu Hao said, then shook their heads, "Bro, actually, we used to live in a shelter too. We thought it was safe, but eventually, it was destroyed by zombies, and we escaped from there."
The shelter they were in also gave them the idea of being very safe.
But when the zombie surge ca, they helplessly watched the shelter being destroyed.
Wu Hao shook his head and said, "No, the Sunshine Shelter I’m talking about isn’t as simple as you think. There’s soone nad Lin Fan there who’s really capable, able to hunt zombies effortlessly. It’s all recorded in the album. Just take a look, all zombies in Huangshi have been cleared. You can imagine how amazing that is."
He knew that so things are hard to believe.
But that’s the reality.
He wasn’t lying.
Sure enough.
As he spoke, they looked completely stunned, feeling as if they’ve heard sothing unbelievable.
Such an expression is normal; only by seeing it firsthand can you understand.
Wu Hao was prepared to start his motorcycle to leave but was stopped by the survivors.
"Wait, Bro, thank you for saving us. Can you tell us your na?" They looked at Wu Hao with eyes full of gratitude. Those eyes were sincere, not feigned.
"Wu Hao."
"Wu Bro, we’d like to invite you to our current shelter. We want to thank you properly and also ask more about the shelter you ntioned."
Wu Hao looked at them; once again, it was ti for a choice.
To choose to trust in humanity.
Or to refuse.
"Alright, sure."
Wu Hao replied with a smile. Even though he had been deceived before, he chose to trust again.
If he didn’t believe in humanity, he wouldn’t have helped them distract the zombies nor tell them about Sunshine Shelter. He believed there were still many good people.
If so ambitious people knew about his thoughts.
They would surely laugh heartily.
Foolish, just foolish.
Choosing to trust humanity during the apocalypse? Isn’t this asking for trouble?
Wu Hao followed behind the cargo truck on his motorcycle.
He thought the shelter they spoke of was in a building, but apparently, he thought too much; the direction the vehicle was headed was indeed a mountain.
They parked the truck at the base of the mountain, then moved the supplies they found, cooperatively carrying them up the mountain.
"Your shelter is on the mountain?" Wu Hao asked.
"Yeah, it’s on the mountain. We felt safer here. Outlying buildings may have walls to block them, but if you’re unlucky enough to be surrounded by zombies, there’s no way to escape."
Listening to this.
Wu Hao nodded in agreent.
What they said made sense.
Upon reaching a relatively flat area on the mountain, he could hear voices talking and the laughter of children.
In front of him were man-made wooden fences.
In a mountain full of trees, there’s no shortage of wood for whatever you need.
Wu Hao felt these wooden fences were rely decorative; they definitely weren’t the point. He realized this upon entering, never underestimate the will to live of humans.
Because they can have any idea.
Looking up.
Houses were actually built in the trees.
It takes so skill to pull that off.
"Wu Bro, we built the houses in the trees. Even if zombies show up here, we can protect ourselves. The wooden fence can block zombies, buying us ti to get to the trees."
"It’s indeed a good idea."
Wu Hao highly agreed; zombies can’t climb trees. As long as their numbers aren’t overwhelming, it really might not pose much threat here.
The houses in the trees are connected by pathways made of tree vines, making it easier to shift positions.
"Wu Bro, the mountain is relatively safe. Sotis we’re lucky enough to catch wild animals, like wild chickens or wild boars. We’ve dosticated them, and not far from here is a spring, securing our water supply. Life is not too problematic; the only thing we need is dication. Adults can endure fevers and colds, but children need dicine to recover."
The survivor leading Wu Hao was nad Liang Jun.
He explained the situation here.
Wu Hao asked, "Has it always been safe here?"
Liang Jun replied, "Yes, ever since we fled here, there hasn’t been any danger."
Wu Hao was drawn to the surrounding circumstances. He thought that while the apocalypse is indeed terrifying, humans seeking survival always find opportunities to live amidst danger.
