And they were close from the very beginning, so Kyoya wasn't worried much. His wife was naturally on his back with her eyes scouting the place. Even so, Xaya also couldn't see through this darkness and could only wait for the clues.

A greenish and transparent creature passed through the floor to appear in front of Maria. She already beca pale from the grotesque big eyes and big head. The rest of its body looked like a greenish blanket, so it was a rather comical sight, but not for the lady.
She was trembling so much that her body moved on her own!
"Begone evil!"
"Maria!"
Boom!
She chucked a small stone that turned into several pebbles to make sure to not miss the scary creature. It obviously passed through the ghost, but it successfully ran away to the upper floor.
The silence lasted only a few seconds, however.
"Hiii!"
"Hihihi!"
"Hihihi!"
The ghost ca back with the buddy. Both ghosts laughed at Maria whose body was trembling more and more. It was kinda too obvious at this point that she beca the target of these ghosts.
However, Maria wasn't thinking like that. She just felt like she was scared of those creatures from the very beginning! Her trembling body took a step back in a fear, then her boyfriend appeared in front.
He spread his arms widely to protect her.
"Josef…"
"It's fine. I am here, so collect your thoughts!"
"Yes… Thank you…"
Josef flashed his white teeth to reassure her, then faced the ghosts! He even felt like taunting these, but it wouldn't be appropriate in the current situation. As he raised his face to look at the ghosts, Josef blinked his eyes.
"Ah."
The ghosts rushed at Maria while totally ignoring him. They were intangible and so their forms could easily pass through Josef's body. He felt an unknown emotion increasing his heartbeat which caused his whole body to freeze.
It didn't an Josef would stay frozen for the rest of the ti here.
"Josef, you fucking idiot!"
"S-sorry!"
His girlfriend shattered this very ice cage with her words alone, then he spun around to help her! As he did, Josef spotted his wife being held by the two ghosts as they coiled around her.
It seed as if they beca attached to Maria!
"Hihihi!"
"Hihihi!"
"B-bastards, let go… Let go…"
As Josef couldn't stand his girlfriend being abused like that with an unknown power, he threw his fists at those ghosts, but all to no avail. He just couldn't hit them at all! Even Xiaoxiao's fla spear passed through the ghosts.
They also had to be careful to not hurt her!
Kyoya himself wasn't liking this, but what could he do here? He also felt like the divine energy of the father of law wouldn't allow him to strike these ghosts yet and that a key to make them tangible had yet to appear in the tower.
He eyed the ghosts carefully, then as Maria couldn't take it anymore, she rushed to the middle of the first floor.
"Be careful, Maria! Damn it, I will ask Lord Aron for so ntal defensive treasure after this!"
"I feel like nothing could be done here, Josef. This is the test we have to go through. If we lose our composure, then we will be the ones to get affected. I feel like Maria was just the first target to show the effects of this floor… Hmm?"
"What's wrong? Did you notice sothing, Kyoya?"
The husband felt like he saw sothing while looking at running Maria. He focused more and the small part of the stairs appeared in his eyes! It could be seen through the ghosts and their laughing bodies.
"The ghosts are the key to finding the staircase. Maria, try to get more of these ghosts!"
"F-F-Fuck you, Kyoya!"
It was a rather expected answer, so Kyoya just chuckled and decided to begin the marking on his minimap. His eyesight was surely the best out of everyone from his party, so it was the appropriate job for him.
In the anti, Josef realized that he has to do his very best here, otherwise, both his girlfriend and the test will fail. The failure during the adventures sotis can cause the adventurer to wholly give up on such life.
It would be a pity to only et his girlfriend once in a while in the house as she would live her common life sowhere else on a low floor.
That was why Josef just exerted every drop of his strength to hug his girlfriend.
"Ah!"
In a shock from this sudden movent, Maria let out a rather lovely gasp then her eyes shifted to look at her boyfriend. A small seed of security began to appear within his heart, but the ghosts began to attack more offensively.
They whipped their tongues out to lick Maria…
And since nothing could be done to stop them, Josef hid her face within his chest, then stroked Maria's hair while guiding her per Kyoya's instructions. Since the husband began mapping, he was the only one to guide them!
The two other mbers kept an eye on the surroundings with Xiaoxiao at the helm with her spear raised high. Its flas were currently devoured by the darkness that originated from the floor, but it didn't lower her strength at all.
Soon, the whole staircases were properly mapped on the minimap and everyone from the party could see it.
Boom!
"Mini boss is here!"
Xiaoxiao shouted first when she felt the new presence erging from the darkness! It ca from below the staircases, so before beating this mini boss no one could go up!
"Leave it to us, Josef. Hold your girlfriend tightly."
"He will, bastard husband! I will rember your words from today!"
"Enough, enough. Calm down and rest."
The first mini boss was also a ghost.

It was a ghost mouse on its two.
