It is not impossible to build a stable platform next to the current settlent to establish a new one.
Although there are now two huge chasms next to the settlent, opposite of which is just a small patch of snow supported by the remnants of a building, not fully collapsed, barely enough to park two small airships, and insufficient to set up a settlent.
But there are conditions and foundations to build a stable platform on which a new settlent can be established based on this.
