Chapter 60: 060 Doubt (3/3)_1

“What are they laughing about?”

A businessman wearing a top hat inquired from afar.

“Perhaps their business is doing well, and they’ve made a lot of money?”

Soone nearby answered.

“Then we should ask them about it later.” The businessman glanced at the person who replied, and they both had faint smiles on their faces.

Businessn derive joy from their work and so do martial artists. Wealth isn’t the only source of happiness in this world.

Ti ticked away, and in no ti, it was midnight.

Heige, dressed in a specially-made blue suit, didn’t have a sleeve on his left hand – instead, there was sothing similar to a floating epaulette.

This was to minimize the noticeable difference caused by his amputated hand.

He strode to the center of the banquet hall, rose a glass goblet, loudly announced the start of the banquet, and then drained his drink. Imdiately, everyone else around him also lifted their glasses in toast.

So people stood by the long table filled with food, symbolically picking up a few items to eat. However, most people, too informal even for symbolism, simply held their wine glasses and sought out individuals to chat with.

The main purpose of the banquet wasn’t to fill their stomachs.

It was a chance for networking.

Evidently, the seventy to eighty guests at the banquet had broken off into several circles. One group composed of older gentlen, likely the owners of various businesses. They were engrossed in discussing business, the atmosphere among them rather formal and solemn.

Another group consisted of glamorous high-society ladies. They were whispering and giggling, mostly discussing about juicy gossips from the upper echelons of society or luxury goods.

The last group comprised of younger people, both n and won. Most of them were refined and good-looking. They were chattering and laughing, their area occasionally punctuated by shouts of surprise and boasts.

Elsewhere, by the long table, Moses and Casio were digging into their food, each with a fork and a plate in hand, picking and choosing as they pleased.

Moses took a big bite, tearing off half of a juicy, roasted pork hind leg. Chewing appreciatively, he glanced at Casio next to him, who was similarly gnawing at a piece of pork leg.

Perhaps feeling the attention from his ‘big brother’, Casio responded with a smile.

The two exchanged looks and suddenly burst out laughing.

“Hey, you two foodies, stop eating for once and co help!” Lanxi, who had been bombarded with endless questions, complained from the side.

“You need to let us eat our fill first!” Moses replied with his head lifted.

“Hmph, you won’t die from stuffing yourselves,” Lanxi responded, sowhat exasperated.

Moses chuckled in response.

Casio swallowed a large piece of rib, savoring the flavor. The food served here at the banquet was markedly superior to that of the Cafeteria he was accustod to, despite its decent taste. He felt a bit greasy from all the food he’d eaten.

Casio stopped a waiter and grabbed a glass of wine from a tray for a quick rinse. More than a dozen waiters were moving around the banquet hall, all of them tall, handso n.

They were clad in black and white uniforms, with a black garter around their white shirt sleeves. The garters served to adjust the length of the sleeves – fix it on the upper arm, pull the shirt up, and the length could be adjusted accordingly.

Of course, it could also be used to secure rolled-up sleeves. Many gentlen used to fasten garters on their sleeves in sumr.

“Mr. Li Wei, may I have a chat with you?”

Suddenly, a pleasant voice ca from his left.

Casio swallowed his drink and turned to look.

Unsurprisingly, it was a pretty girl. She wore a pink silk robe that accentuated her long, straight legs. Her robe was deliberately tightened at the waist, giving her an hourglass figure. Her face was exquisite, and her eyes were modest yet seductive.

Her hair was a wine-red color and was styled in a high bun. This made her snowy white neck and chest all the more noticeable, resembling glacial ice floating on the sea surface.

“Nice to et you, my na is Mouxue Romiro.”

The girl smiled, a hint of confidence playing at the corners of her lips.

Five minutes later, Mouxue returned to her group, looking defeated. The other girls in the group inquired curiously about the incident.

“Forget about it… I can only say he’s quite a unique man…”

Mouxue murmured to herself, “A solitary, eccentric man…”

As ten minutes passed, one girl after another retreated in defeat after trying to strike up a conversation with Casio. A refined gentleman would normally liven up the atmosphere in the presence of ladies; however, unfortunately for Casio, what he did best was kill the conversation.

“Mr. Li Wei, you’re so tall and big!”

“Yes.”

“Mr. Li Wei, you seem to really enjoy eating!”

“Yes.”

“Mr. Li Wei, you must be really skilled in martial arts!”

“Hmmm.”

???

Shouldn’t a normal person expand on their response?

For example, if soone complinted your physique, a socially adept person would flex a muscle and start talking about their exhaustive training regin. If soone ntioned you liked food, they probably wanted to know what kind of food you enjoyed.

The girls weren’t asking a yes-or-no question; they were trying to initiate a conversation that required him to talk at length.

But Casio was just Casio. He was like this in nature, and he had no intention to change for soone irrelevant.

No quantity of fancy words could replace a single punch from him.

Gradually, no one was surrounding Casio anymore. He happily relished his solitude, gnawing on his ribs alongside Moses, his favorite Big Brother, while gleefully watching Heige and Lanxi bustling about.

Ti rolled on until it was two or three in the afternoon.

As the music played by the orchestra shifted, the customary paired dancing began. A throng of lavishly dressed n and won paired up under the soothing music, typically with the gentleman’s arm gently around the lower edge of the lady’s left scapula, not the waist.

With the lady’s hand resting on the man’s right shoulder, their left arms touched and moved as one, swaying to the music left and right.

“Hey, junior bro, don’t you think our third brother there looks like he’s dancing with another woman?” Moses, reclining blissfully on a sofa in a corner, lifted an eyebrow at Casio.

Casio, who was drinking a glass of wine next to him, turned to look.

In the distance, Lanxi was gracefully dancing with a girl, who had an innocent and adorable face. But upon comparison, it seed like Lanxi was even prettier and more delicate.

On the left, Heige was dancing with a beautiful high-society lady. Despite having only one hand, he was dancing gracefully, exuding an air of elegance that was imnsely attractive.

“Big brother really can dance well.” Casio mused.

“Isn’t that the truth? Brother Heige is really quick at catching on; once he practices sothing, he masters it.” Moses grabbed a cherry from the coffee table and popped it into his mouth.

Five minutes later, Casio, with a glass of wine in hand, walked along the wall towards the long table, intending to get so dessert.

Halfway there, a tall and skinny middle-aged gentleman greeted him, “Hello, Mr. Li Wei, my na is Negri, and I’m the owner of Sunset Antique Company. This is my business card, please take it.”

Casio accepted the business card and suddenly thought of a question.

Could he absorb the Obsession Energy from Legendary Antiques or Obsession Antiques if he found them in the Era of Retrospection?
