Chapter 55: 055 Core Disciples (3/3 asking for more reading)_1
That injury went deep, and it robbed the talented Lixia of her potential martial arts journey. And Naz, whose comprehension was even higher than Lixia’s, had died directly as a result. Oumai had tried every ans to heal Lixia, but all had ended in failure. Any dicine she consud would be purged in a day or two. The fact that Lixia could hold on until now was nothing short of miraculous.
However, she was on the brink of collapse, likely to live only a year or two more at most. Oumai’s voice was filled with sadness when he spoke these words.
But after recounting the past, he looked fervently towards Casio and shared what Lixia had told him two months ago. Casio finally understood why Lixia was so determined and relentlessly committed to training him.
Lixia’s endless yearning for martial arts, her infinite hope to perfect the Azure Wind Current, all of it relied on Casio. In her heart, Casio might be more important than she was because her dream resided within him.
And the silver pocket watch was in fact a relic from Naz, Lixia’s senior brother. Lixia had given it to Casio in hopes that he could beco an outstanding, brave, and strong person like Naz.
The reason Oumai revealed all this to Casio was, of course, to make him realize there was soone who considered him more important than her own life. He needed to try harder, to keep from disappointing Lixia.
October 18, sunny weather, broad daylight.
Lixia was discharged from the hospital, accompanied by Casio. During their walk, Lixia playfully complained about how Casio had wasted his cultivation ti while doting on her like a nanny in the hospital.
Moreover, the enthusiasm of the usually reserved Casio felt sowhat odd, like a muscular hunk wearing a dress.
Casio remained silent, feeling a bit wronged. After more than forty years in past and present lives, he had grown accustod to being a man of few words. Perhaps because he had spent too long alone, Casio wasn’t adept at expressing his emotions to others, even fearing the emotions that others expressed towards him. Now, after finally making a step forward, he was scolded for it.
Even so, he swallowed his grievances and focused on what needed to be done.
He didn’t know how to sweet talk others into feeling better, but he knew how to make practical decisions and learn from them, step by step, from novice to expert.
This was so like Casio…
November 4, clear skies.
Casio used up the third Calming Incense stick. This ti, he wasn’t scolded by Lixia as his progress in the Wind Elephant Fist had significantly improved.
Over these last few days, Casio’s progress was much faster than before. Having switched from trying hard to giving it his all, he learned faster, ca to an understanding quicker, and his movents beca more standardized. This way, Lixia didn’t have to repeat instructions ti after ti.
She would get so ti to rest, and seeing Casio’s progress being made faster, would bring her joy and satisfaction.
Whilst in the past Casio needed occasional prompting from others, now he was whipping himself forward. No one wanted him to progress more than he did.
************************
Two months passed…
Federation Calendar, Year 98, January 7.
In a quiet room, the strong, pungent sll of potion filled the air. In a corner stood a light yellow wooden tub, with Casio’s body imrsed in the potion, only his head exposed.
His eyes were tightly closed and his body was in a specific position of the Elephant Soul Secret Technique, a position he had practiced countless tis. Invisible dicinal properties layered on his skin, slowly seeping in, and intense waves of pain spread throughout his body.
It genuinely felt as though thousands of needles were piercing his flesh.
This was the outco of achieving a 100 percent effectiveness in the first level of the Elephant Soul Secret Technique. Each ti he practiced, he had to endure this kind of pain.
Six months, a full half-year’s ti. He had finally reached the pinnacle of his progress, and it hadn’t been easy.
Especially the last few percentages, moving them even a bit had required an imnse amount of ti. Fortunately, he had accomplished what he wanted.
In his line of sight, a series of words appeared.
“Elephant Soul Secret Technique: Spike 100.0% (Total of 3 levels)”
“Wind Elephant Fist: Wild Wind 99.5% (Total of 3 levels)”
He was only 0.5 percent away from breaking through the first level of the Wind Elephant Secret Martial Art. However, it seed that it would still take half a month’s diligent training to reach it…
Taking a deep breath of the air laden with the aroma of potion, Casio stood up and went to the washroom nearby for a bath.
He then returned to pour out the used potion and cleaned the wooden tub.
Finally, he neatly placed the tub in the corner of the room.
In the quiet room, Casio, naked from the waist up, was getting dressed.
He had grown taller and stronger than before, standing at approximately 1.87 to 1.88 ters. This was due to the purification and marrow-nourishing effect of the Wind Elephant Pill, which had caused Casio to grow a few centiters taller and his skeleton seed to have subtly increased in size.
Sunlight shone on his half-naked body, reflecting off his bronze skin. His muscular body seed robust from head to toe, neatly and evenly proportioned. Casio had a developed musculature but maintained a balanced physique.
This was a flawless streamlined symtry, which might not be noticeable when clothed, but the mont he revealed his large skeleton and bronze muscles, he seed overwhelmingly muscular.
After getting dressed, he slightly twisted his neck, producing cracking sounds from his joints. Casio then stretched languidly.
He walked over to a window, propped it open, and let the cold air replace the warm air inside the room.
It was already January, and although it wasn’t snowing, the temperature was close to freezing. The room’s warm air was quickly replaced by the crisp freshness from outside.
Soone suddenly pushed the door open and entered the room.
Casio turned his head and saw it was Lixia.
“Teacher…”
“Quickly gather your things. Let’s go to Oak City right now!” Lixia’s tone seed hurried, “And rember to wear that suit and pendant representing a Core Disciple.”
“Teacher, what’s going on?” asked Casio.
“Your eldest senior brother has returned. The other two Core Disciples have gone to greet him. They’re hosting a banquet in Oak City,” Lixia explained.
Upon hearing this, Casio understood imdiately.
The eldest senior brother referred to here wasn’t soone who was also a disciple of Teacher Lixia, but the eldest of all this generation’s disciples from Wind Elephant Gate. In other words, the highest-ranking individual among all Core Disciples.
Once a regular disciple is promoted to a Core Disciple, they automatically move up a rank and only address other Core Disciples as senior or junior brothers and sisters. Regardless of their age or how much earlier they had beco disciples, they uniformly address other Core Disciples as senior brother or senior sister.
“Let
grab it.” Casio imdiately went back to his room to change into the appointed attire and then waited at the door.
After a mont, Lixia’s silhouette appeared in the distance, quickly making her way towards him. She hadn’t changed clothes and didn’t need to.
Lixia was just there to guide Casio.
At ten in the morning, the two descended the mountain.
