Chapter 14 – “Hubby, I Got the Household Register—We Can Get Married Now!”
Zheng Wanqing got out of the car and jogged to the gate of their family villa.
The housekeeper’s auntie’s electric scooter didn’t seem to be there.
So it looked like no one was ho.
Great!
That way, sneaking the household register would be much easier—no need to tiptoe or worry about getting caught.
“Huh? The door’s not locked?”
“What’s going on?”
“Could it be that Mom and Dad ca ho?”
Zheng Wanqing’s expression changed and she grew nervous.
No way!
If her parents were ho, how could she possibly steal it?
If she rembered correctly, the household register was under her parents’ mattress.
Zheng Wanqing nervously peeked in.
“Mom, are you ho?”
As she stepped into the living room, she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.
“Mom, are you the one taking a shower in there?”
From inside the bathroom ca Zheng Wanyu’s voice: “Wanqing, it’s your big sis!”
“Oh, it’s you, sis. You scared .” Zheng Wanqing let out a breath of relief.
Just as the bathroom door creaked open, Zheng Wanyu peeked her head out mid-shower.
“What’s up, Wanqing? Hiding sothing from ?”
“Ah, no! Why would I?” Zheng Wanqing stamred nervously.
Her sister’s intuition is way too sharp!
“Really?”
Zheng Wanyu remained suspicious.
“Really, of course!” Zheng Wanqing emphasized.
Then quickly changed the subject: “Oh right, sis, shouldn’t you be at the office by now?”
“Why are you ho?”
“Don’t you have to work this afternoon?”
From inside the bathroom ca Zheng Wanyu’s voice: “Of course I do! Mom and Dad and I probably won’t be back until late tonight.”
“So just sleep at the dorm tonight. No one will be ho. Auntie Wang is off, too.”
“I don’t feel safe leaving you alone here.”
Zheng Wanqing nodded, “Oh, okay. Got it!”
“By the way, sis, after eting my boyfriend today—what do you think of him?”
Zheng Wanyu comnted, “That guy’s… passable, I guess.”
“He is handso, and you two look good together.”
“But I’m not sure how our parents will react.”
“Anyway, I’ll try to put in a good word for you. As for Mom and Dad, no guarantees.”
“So don’t get your hopes up.”
Zheng Wanqing giggled, “I won’t. But when big sis makes a move, it’s like sending two people!”
“Sweet talker. Go upstairs and get that evening dress from my closet.”
“Evening dress?” Zheng Wanqing asked, surprised. “Sis, are you going on a blind date tonight?”
“Blind date, my foot. I’m heading out with Mom and Dad to clean up your ss!”
“You really pissed off the Zhao family this ti.”
“We need to go and make a proper apology.”
Zheng Wanqing said sheepishly, “Sorry about that.”
“With a sister like you, what bad luck I have.” Zheng Wanyu muttered.
“Also, while I’m still in a good mood today, if there’s anything else you’re hiding, spill it now.”
“Aside from dating Ye Fei for three years behind our backs—is there anything else?”
Zheng Wanqing stamred, “N-n-no! That’s all!”
Zheng Wanyu didn’t push further. “Alright, hurry upstairs and grab my dress.”
“Okay, sis! One sec. I’ll get it right away!”
Zheng Wanqing headed up to the second floor and first went into her parents’ room.
She reached under the mattress and quietly took the household register, hiding it on her person.
Then she went into Zheng Wanyu’s room.
She opened the wardrobe and took out the evening gown her sister wanted.
When she reached the bathroom door—
She placed the dress down sowhere nearby.
Then said, “Sis, I got your dress. It’s right outside. Co grab it yourself!”
“I’ve got sothing to do, so I’m heading out. Bye!”
Zheng Wanyu pushed open the bathroom door.
She was just about to speak when her sister had already dashed off.
“You little rascal—running off faster than a rabbit!”
“What’s the big rush? Who’re you off to et now?!”
“Ye Fei again, huh?”
But truthfully— She had a pretty decent impression of Ye Fei after today.
He was handso, and seed to have a good personality.
Standing next to her sister, they did look like a perfect match.
Oh well, she thought. I’ve spoiled this sister since we were little. Might as well help her out this ti.
After successfully sneaking out the household register— Zheng Wanqing t up with Ye Fei.
“So? Did you get it?” Ye Fei asked.
“I did. Look, here it is.”
Zheng Wanqing handed the household register to Ye Fei.
Seeing her all sweaty, he asked:
“Why are you sweating so much? Did soone catch you?”
Still catching her breath, Zheng Wanqing said, “No, no! My sister was ho taking a shower. I snuck it out while she wasn’t paying attention.”
Ye Fei held Zheng Wanqing’s hand and got into the taxi in front of them.
“Driver, take us to No. 349 Beiyuan Hutong!”
That was Ye Fei’s ho address.
He usually stayed in the dorms and only went ho on holidays.
