Chapter: Uncovering The Truth
---
Adam remained standing in the hall, surrounded by his companions, as the tension in the air thickened.
The air humd with anticipation before a bright flash signaled Sona’s return. Her wings fluttered gracefully, casting shimring patterns on the walls.
Just beneath her, Krish appeared, unceremoniously deposited on the floor.
Krish looked disoriented, his eyes half-closed as though yanked from the depths of a deep sleep.
He blinked rapidly, struggling to adjust to the unfamiliar surroundings. His gaze flitted around the room, landing on Adam and his companions, and his expression shifted from confusion to alarm.
"Adam— I an, Master Adam!" Krish stamred, his voice betraying his nerves.
Adam ignored the formal greeting. Instead, he crouched to Krish’s level, his piercing gaze locking onto him.
It didn’t escape Adam’s notice that Krish was groggy, the faint lines of sleep still etched on his face. Clearly, Sona had teleported him straight from his bed.
Adam doesn’t care about any of this; right now all he wants to know is whether Krish has talked to the governnt or not.
"Did you speak to the governnt on behalf of The Union?" Adam asked sharply. "Did you tell the President to form an alliance without consulting us?"
Adam is extrely frustrated and he just wants answers right now; he doesn’t want to see any kind of drama right now.
Krish’s eyes widened in shock. "Alliance?" he exclaid, his voice rising with disbelief. "But the talks haven’t even started yet! The governnt is supposed to send you an invitation in a few days."
Adam’s stomach sank at the reply, a grim sense of foreboding tightening his chest.
What Adam feared has happened, this statent from Krish has confird that he has not had any conversation with the governnt.
He leaned back, lowering himself to sit on the floor, his gaze distant as he processed Krish’s words. If Krish didn’t arrange the alliance, then what exactly is going on?
Adam begins to wonder if the governnt can take such a decision on its own. He never feels that the governnt would take such a decision on its own without their permission.
Hovering nearby, Sona had remained silent, observing the exchange with growing irritation. When Krish spoke, her patience snapped. "If you don’t know what’s happening," she interrupted sharply, "then how do you explain this?"
She raised a hand, directing Krish’s attention to the holographic screens, where Pratham had replayed the governnt’s press conference.
Krish followed her gesture, turning toward the large display. His jaw slackened as the footage played, showing the President’s official mber bold declaration of an alliance with The Union. His expression shifted from confusion to disbelief. He staggered to his feet, moving closer to the screens as if proximity would make the announcent any less real.
"How is this possible?" Krish muttered, his voice barely audible. He turned back to Adam, his expression pleading for answers. "Master, did you... did you speak to the governnt?"
Adam, still seated on the floor, exhaled deeply, his frustration carefully contained. Rising to his full height, he towered over Krish, his voice asured but unyielding. "If I had spoken to the governnt, would I be asking you these questions?"
Krish’s face flushed with embarrassnt, but the confusion in his eyes didn’t waver. "But the President told he would invite you for alliance talks," he insisted. "Why would he go ahead and declare an alliance on his own?"
He paused, a flicker of hope lighting his face as a thought struck him. "But this is a good thing, isn’t it? Now you don’t have to go out of your way, and The Union gains more power without you even lifting a finger!"
The room fell into a contemplative silence as Krish’s reasoning hung in the air.
Several of Adam’s companions exchanged glances, so nodding hesitantly as they mulled over the apparent benefits.
Even Adam found himself considering the possibility. It’s not entirely wrong, he admitted silently. Still, unease coiled tightly in his chest.
Adam’s instincts stirred. Every ti he had ignored such feelings in the past, the consequences had been catastrophic. Sothing about this sudden announcent felt wrong—dangerously wrong.
Sona, floating nearby, seed to share his unease. Her sharp eyes t Adam’s, a flicker of concern mirrored in her gaze.
She folded her arms across her chest, her wings twitching with restless energy.
anwhile, the rest of the group appeared increasingly inclined to agree with Krish, seeing the alliance as an unexpected boon.
The tense atmosphere was broken by Pratham’s voice, steady and resolute, emanating from the holographic screen.
"I don’t think this is as simple as it seems," he stated, his tone carrying an edge of warning.
"The governnt wouldn’t take such a significant step without consulting the other parties involved—no matter how much influence you have over the President. If the President acted unilaterally, it could destabilize the entire governnt."
All eyes turned to Pratham’s holographic form, his words slicing through the room’s uncertainty like a blade.
Adam’s jaw tightened as he considered the implications. Sona’s expression darkened further, her fingers twitching as if itching to take action.
Krish frowned, visibly grappling with Pratham’s logic. "But if the President made this move, maybe it’s because he trusts The Union’s leadership," he suggested weakly, though his voice lacked conviction.
"No," Adam said firmly, his tone leaving no room for argunt. "Trust doesn’t explain this. There’s more to this than we’re seeing."
The room lapsed into silence once more, the weight of Adam’s declaration pressing down on everyone present.
Even those who had been optimistic monts earlier began to reconsider, their faces shadowed with doubt.
Pratham, ever the strategist, pressed on. "If this alliance was orchestrated without your knowledge, it could be a trap. A premature announcent like this could provoke opposition from rival factions or alienate key allies. The risks are too great to ignore."
Adam nodded, his resolve solidifying. "We need answers. We can’t afford to assu this is just a lucky break."
Krish hesitated, then nodded reluctantly. "I’ll contact the President," he offered. "If anyone knows why this happened, it’s him."
Adam shakes his head and says, "That’s a good idea. You should have put the call on speaker so I could hear what the President is saying."
Krish nodded vigorously, his earlier confusion replaced by determination. "Understood, Master."
The room fell quiet once more, the weight of the situation settling heavily on everyone.
Though the alliance announcent had initially seed like a gift, it now lood over them as a potential harbinger of danger.
Adam’s gaze lingered on the holographic screen, his mind racing to piece together the puzzle.
Sothing about this alliance wasn’t right, and until he uncovered the truth, he couldn’t let his guard down.
As the others began to disperse to their respective tasks, Adam stood in the center of the room, his expression grim.
If this was the beginning of a larger sche, he needed to be ready. No matter the cost, he would protect The Union.
