Chapter: Capturing Samuel
The psychic spirits hovered, their collective energy radiating across the room. As one of them extended a glowing finger to touch Samuel’s forehead, an invisible surge of power coursed through his body, neutralizing every ounce of his Cosmic Being’s abilities.
Samuel let out a bloodcurdling scream before collapsing to the ground, unconscious. Ninja stepped forward, his movents precise and thodical.
With a flick of his wrist, nanotechnology particles erged from his hand, forming a sleek set of restraints. In re monts, Ninja had bound Samuel’s hands and feet, ensuring he could not move.
As a final asure, Ninja created a neck collar embedded with a gleaming blue crystal at its center.
Securing the device around Samuel’s neck, he stepped back to inspect his work. Adam, observing closely, nodded in approval.
Nearby, Ninja still held Emily in his grasp, his hands tightening around her throat. Her face was pale, her breathing shallow. Noticing the intensity of Ninja’s actions, Adam raised his hand.
"Ninja," Adam called out firmly, "I think that’s enough."
Recognizing the command, Ninja released Emily, letting her crumple to the ground, unconscious.
Her neck was flushed red, and she lay motionless, her chest rising and falling faintly. Ninja straightened, sheathed his swords, and turned to Adam.
Bowing slightly, he said, "My apologies, Lord Adam. I may have gone too far."
Adam offered a faint smile. "No harm done. It’s good to see this side of you, Ninja."
Adam turned his gaze to Sona, who floated gracefully nearby. Catching his signal, Sona descended, her golden aura illuminating the room.
Adam pointed toward Krish, who was trembling violently, still reeling from the chaos he had witnessed.
"Sona," Adam commanded, "heal his wound, but don’t restore his hand. I want him alive, but I don’t want him whole."
Fear washed over Krish as Adam’s words sank in. The mories of his arrogance and taunts flashed before him, and for the first ti, he fully grasped the gravity of his mistakes.
His wide eyes t Adam’s cold, furious gaze, and he shivered under the weight of his regret.
Sona floated toward him, her golden aura glowing brighter. She looked down at Krish and spoke with a mocking tone,
"I’ve thought of so interesting plans for you, Mr. Mind Controller." Extending her hand, she muttered softly, "Gentle Touch."
A warm light enveloped Krish’s severed arm. His wound closed swiftly, leaving behind smooth, scarred skin.
However, his missing hand remained unchanged—a permanent reminder of his hubris.
Before Krish could muster a word of protest, Ninja appeared beside him and delivered a single, powerful punch to his face. Krish collapsed instantly, unconscious.
Sona raised an eyebrow, glancing at Ninja. "I wanted to do that," she said, half-joking.
Zero chuckled softly and replied, "Forgive , Sona. I couldn’t resist."
Sona waved dismissively as she turned to leave. "No matter. You did it, so it’s as good as doing it."
With Samuel subdued and Krish neutralized, Adam turned his attention to Anya, Leo, and Susan. Moving to their side, he gently freed them from their restraints.
Standing before Anya, he placed a hand on her cheek, his voice filled with concern. "Are you okay?"
Anya, overwheld by emotion, nodded, her eyes brimming with tears. Struggling to hold them back, she managed to whisper,
"I’m fine." But as the words left her lips, she broke down, throwing her arms around Adam and burying her face in his chest.
Leo and Susan exchanged a glance before embracing each other. Watching Anya and Adam, Leo smiled and said, "Adam, she’s incredibly strong."
Hearing this, Adam and Anya slowly pulled apart. Adam turned to Leo, placing a reassuring hand on his friend’s shoulder. "And what about you, Leo? Are you alright, my friend?"
Leo grinned, though his face showed signs of exhaustion. "If you’d been even a few seconds later, I think I’d have been reduced to paste by now."
Adam laughed lightly. "I could never let that happen, could I?"
Leo’s grin widened. "No, I guess not."
The tension in the room eased slightly as Adam looked around at his companions, the remnants of battle still lingering in the air. He knew the fight wasn’t over, but for now, they had won a crucial victory.
The tension in the air began to dissipate as Susan stepped forward, her voice trembling slightly. "Adam, I’m sorry," she said softly. Her guilt was evident as she lowered her gaze, avoiding his eyes.
Adam turned to her, his tone calm and reassuring. "Don’t worry, Christina is fine. She’s just been captured temporarily. I’ll rescue her soon and bring her back safely."
Hearing this, Susan visibly relaxed, but her shoulders still carried the weight of worry.
Leo placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Susan, trust Adam. If he says he’ll do it, he will."
Adam nodded in agreent. "It’s getting late. Let take you both ho," he said decisively.
Before either of them could respond, Sona floated gracefully toward them, her golden aura glowing faintly. Placing a hand on each of their shoulders, she asked, "Ready?"
Before Susan or Leo could utter a word, Sona activated her teleportation skill, and in the blink of an eye, they vanished from the room.
Adam turned back toward Anya, who had been quietly observing. He noticed the uncertainty in her expression and spoke gently. "Shall I take you ho as well? Your sister Yami must be worried about you."
Anya hesitated, then looked up at him with hopeful eyes. "Can I stay with you for a while longer?"
Her request caught Adam off guard, but he smiled warmly. "Of course, you can."
His attention shifted to the others in the room—Ninja, Zero, and Phantom—each awaiting his orders. "Search this entire area thoroughly," Adam commanded.
"Gather as much evidence as possible. We need to find out if these were all of Cosmic Being’s followers or if there are more hiding in the shadows."
Zero nodded sharply. "Understood, Lord Adam."
With his team set to work, Adam turned to Anya. Gently taking her hand, he teleported them away.
They reappeared in a vast, open field. The sky stretched endlessly above them, the moon casting a silver glow over the grassy expanse. The air was crisp and fresh, carrying the faint scent of wildflowers.
Adam and Anya sat down on the soft grass, side by side. The silence was comforting, broken only by the occasional rustling of the wind.
Adam glanced at her, his voice soft. "Were you scared?"
Anya didn’t et his gaze. Instead, she stared at the moon, its light reflecting in her eyes. "I was terrified," she admitted. "But I knew you would co. That thought kept from losing hope."
A small smile ford on Adam’s face. "I’m sorry," he said, his voice tinged with guilt. "It’s my fault your family was attacked."
Anya finally turned to him, her expression serious. "I knew you would save us. But... I have one question."
Adam, sensing her hesitation, spoke before she could continue. "Don’t worry. I healed Yami. She’s fine now."
Hearing this, Anya smiled softly, her shoulders relaxing. "I knew you wouldn’t let anything happen to her. That’s why I didn’t worry too much about her."
They sat together in peaceful silence, the moonlight enveloping them in a gentle embrace.
The scene shifted back to the abandoned building. Dozens of psychic spirits still hovered above, their luminous forms illuminating the dark surroundings. On the ground, Phantom knelt, placing her hands on the dirt. A pulse of red energy rippled outward in waves, scanning the area.
Zero stood beside her, watching closely. "Did you find anything?" he asked.
Phantom slowly rose to her feet, shaking her head. "There’s nothing here," she replied, her voice steady.
Zero sighed, nodding in acknowledgnt. Without another word, he gestured to the others, and together they teleported away, leaving the site empty and silent.
Adam and Anya returned to her ho. The mont they stepped inside, Yami rushed to her sister, relief evident on her face. She hugged Anya tightly, her voice trembling as she spoke. "Thank you, Adam," she said, turning to him with sincere gratitude.
Adam raised his hands slightly in protest. "I should be the one apologizing. This attack happened because of—"
Before he could finish, Yami interrupted, raising her hand to stop him. "I don’t want to hear it," she said firmly. "All I know is that you saved my sister and from danger. That’s enough for ."
Her words left Adam montarily speechless. He had carried the weight of guilt, but Yami’s unwavering gratitude eased his burden.
"See?" Anya chid in, glancing at her sister. "I’ve been saying the sa thing, but he just won’t stop worrying."
Yami smiled, her eyes warm. The three of them shared a quiet mont of understanding before Adam eventually took his leave.
Returning to his room, Adam was surprised to find it empty. Confused, he glanced around. "Where is everyone?" he muttered to himself.
Realization struck him. "They must have gone back to the abandoned building to interrogate Atlas," he thought.
Without hesitation, Adam teleported to the site, determined to regroup with his team.
