Chapter: Confronting Predictions

---

The night had firmly settled in, and the clock in Adam’s room ticked past 9 PM. The once-bustling space was now eerily quiet, with all his companions off pursuing their designated tasks. Adam sat alone at his desk, the dim light of the room casting long shadows.

Taking a deep breath, Adam reached for his phone and dialed a familiar number—Leo. He watched the screen as it rang a few tis before the call connected.

"Adam?" Leo’s voice ca through, tinged with curiosity. "What’s going on? Calling this late, is everything alright?"

Adam’s tone was firm yet urgent. "Leo, can you and Susan co to my place imdiately? It’s important."

Leo hesitated for a mont. "Important? What’s going on?"

"I can’t explain over the phone," Adam replied, his voice dropping slightly. "Just co over as soon as possible. If you can’t bring Susan, let know, and I’ll co to you."

Sensing the seriousness in Adam’s voice, Leo quickly agreed. "Alright, we’ll be there shortly."

Adam ended the call, placing his phone on the desk.

For a mont, silence filled the room, broken only by the faint hum of his monitor. Then, a mory flashed through Adam’s mind—Lisa. Without hesitation, he picked up his phone again and dialed her number.

Lisa answered after just a couple of rings, her voice warm but curious. "Hello, Adam?"

"I need to et you at the park," Adam said, his tone calm but direct.

Lisa paused for a few seconds, seemingly caught off guard by the sudden request. "At this hour? Alright, I’ll be there."

The line went dead as Lisa hung up, and Adam stood up from his chair.

Descending the stairs quietly, he noticed his mother busy in the kitchen, preparing dinner, while his father was engrossed in work on his laptop, seated on the sofa.

Adam observed them for a mont, the warmth of his family filling him with a bittersweet feeling. Not wanting to disturb them, he turned and silently returned to his room.

He prepared himself quickly, ensuring he had everything he needed. Then, with a final glance around, he teleported away.

In an instant, Adam found himself in the familiar park within Lisa’s city. The soft glow of streetlights bathed the empty pathways, and a cool breeze rustled through the trees.

Adam chose a public bench and sat down, his gaze scanning the park for any sign of Lisa.

Minutes passed, and then, from a distance, he saw a silhouette approaching—Lisa. Her figure beca clearer as she walked closer, her steps steady and purposeful.

Adam stood up as she neared, his expression apologetic. "I’m sorry for calling you out so late," he said sincerely.

Lisa smiled softly, her curiosity evident. "It’s alright, Adam. What’s this about?"

Reaching into his pocket, Adam pulled out two sleek rubber wristbands and held them out to her.

"These are for you and Susan. As long as you’re wearing these, no one will be able to detect that you’re Power Holders."

Lisa’s eyes widened in astonishnt as she took the bands, running her fingers over their smooth surface.

"This... this is incredible, Adam. I didn’t expect you to create sothing like this so quickly." Her voice brimd with excitent and gratitude.

Adam’s tone remained steady, though a hint of pride flickered in his eyes. "Just wear them and stay safe. Now, you should head back quickly."

Lisa nodded, clutching the bands tightly. "Thank you, Adam," she said with a genuine smile before turning and walking away.

Watching her silhouette fade into the distance, Adam teleported back to his room.

The familiar surroundings of his room greeted him as he reappeared. But just as he was about to relax, a voice called out from downstairs—his mother.

"Adam! Your friend is here!"

Startled, Adam realized Leo and Susan must have arrived. "Send them up," he called back.

Monts later, the door creaked open, and Leo and Susan entered.

Both looked slightly concerned, likely sensing the weight of the situation from Adam’s earlier call.

Adam gestured for them to sit on the floor by the low Japanese tea table, where a simple mat had been laid out.

Leo and Susan settled down, their eyes fixed on Adam, waiting for him to speak. Adam took a seat across from them, his expression serious.

"I have news," Adam began, his tone steady but grave. "One good and one bad."

Leo and Susan exchanged uneasy glances before turning their attention back to Adam, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity.

Adam sat in his chair, his fingers lightly tapping the table before him.

Below, his friends Leo and Susan sat cross-legged on the floor, their expressions a mix of concern and anticipation.

Breaking the silence, Adam spoke, his voice steady but heavy with significance.

"I have both good news and bad news for you."

Leo’s eyebrows furrowed, and he exchanged a glance with Susan before leaning slightly forward.

"Well, Adam," Leo began cautiously, "we have so news for you too."

Adam’s head tilted slightly in surprise. He stood up from his chair, stepped around the table, and took a seat directly across from them on the floor.

The small Japanese tea table between them felt like the only barrier in an increasingly tense conversation. His voice grew sharper, though still curious. "What kind of news?"

Leo hesitated, nodding toward Susan, silently urging her to speak. Susan took a deep breath, her fingers clasping nervously. "The Oracle activated again yesterday," she began, her voice low but steady. "And it made a prediction... about you."

Adam’s brow furrowed instantly, his mind racing with possibilities.

The room seed to grow heavier as he leaned closer, his frustration evident. "Why didn’t you tell this sooner?" he demanded, his tone carrying both hurt and urgency.

Susan’s gaze fell to the table, guilt flashing across her face. "I was scared, Adam," she admitted softly. "What the Oracle said... it terrified . But when you called, we decided it was ti to tell you."

Adam leaned back, processing her words. A wave of disappointnt washed over him, but he quickly pushed the feeling aside.

He needed answers, not resentnt. Looking at both of them, he spoke with a asured tone. "Tell everything. Quickly. You have no idea what I’m already dealing with."

Leo, sensing Adam’s internal struggle, sighed deeply. "Adam, we know you’re carrying a lot. But try to understand—this wasn’t easy for us either."

Adam clenched his jaw, his fists tightening for a mont before he exhaled slowly. "I get it," he said, his voice softening slightly. "I just wish you’d told sooner. Now, please, don’t hold anything back."

Susan, emboldened by his response, nodded and began again. "The Oracle predicted sothing troubling. It said your entire family is in danger." Her voice wavered slightly but remained firm.

"And... your opponent—this one in particular—is unlike anything you’ve faced before. Their power is tied to space itself. They’re powerful, Adam. Unbelievably powerful."

Adam’s eyes widened as her words sank in. mories of Krish surfaced, his mind replaying the mont when Krish had escaped using a black hole-like ability.

Adam’s breath quickened as he recalled Krish’s ominous reference to his master—the Cosmic Being.

Turning to Susan, his expression hardened. "What exactly did the Oracle predict?" he asked, his voice low and intense.

Susan hesitated but eventually spoke. "The Oracle said that an enemy is targeting you, your creations, and even your family.

It said they’ll co after everyone connected to you, one by one... and they’ll stop at nothing."

Adam’s stomach dropped, and his heart raced. He stared at the floor for a mont, his thoughts spiraling.

If the Oracle saw this, it must be inevitable. Could this truly be connected to the Cosmic Being? And if so, how do I protect everyone?

Adam stood abruptly, pacing the room. Leo and Susan watched him nervously, unsure whether to speak.

Finally, Leo broke the silence. "Adam, this is why we didn’t want to tell you earlier. You’re already carrying so much responsibility. We didn’t want to add to your burden."

Adam stopped and turned to face Leo, his expression unreadable. "I’ve already t one of the Cosmic Being’s subordinates," he revealed, his voice steady but filled with tension.

"If this enemy is truly as powerful as the Oracle says, then you did the right thing by telling . At least now I can prepare."

Susan leaned forward, her concern evident. "What will you do now, Adam?"

He looked at her, his determination returning. "First, I’ll rest," he said, though his tone suggested rest was the furthest thing from his mind.

Leo, sensing a shift in the conversation, reminded Adam, "You were going to share so news with us too."

Adam blinked, montarily caught off guard. "Ah, right," he said, settling back down across from them.

Folding his arms across his chest, he leaned slightly forward. "I’ve found a counterasure to the national investigation the governnt is planning against Power Holders."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sleek rubber wristband, handing it to Susan. "Wear this," he instructed. "As long as you have it on, no device will be able to detect that you’re a Power Holder."

Susan examined the wristband, her expression shifting from curiosity to amazent. "This is incredible, Adam," she said, slipping it onto her wrist.

Leo, however, remained cautious. "If this is the good news, what’s the bad news?"

Adam’s face darkened as he replied. "The Oracle’s prediction and the governnt’s actions are connected. The sa force controlling the governnt... is also orchestrating the investigation. And they’re targeting Power Holders—every single one of them."

His words hung in the air like a storm cloud, casting a heavy shadow over the room.
