Watching her pause for a mont, about to step into the elevator, Tang Ye panicked and hastily called out, "Sister!"
The voice seed to carry the shadow of Li Henian, striking like lightning from the sky onto Li Qingtian, causing her body to tremble. The foot she had lifted hovered in mid-air before she retracted it and slowly turned around; Tang Ye saw that her face was already covered in tears.
After quietly observing Tang Ye for a long while, Li Qingtian suddenly ran toward him and embraced him tightly.
In an instant, he felt enveloped by a warm velvety sensation, the dense scales on his mutated heart began to loosen, forming a flower.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have let you co, I’m sorry..."
Li Qingtian sobbed in her arms, her tone full of self-reproach; Tang Ye knew she was talking about the ti when Li Henian had been in a car accident.
"It’s okay, Sister, I’m still here, aren’t I? I’m fine."
"But do you know how much I’ve missed you? Why didn’t you co to look for ?"
Tang Ye was at a loss for words, he didn’t know how to answer Li Qingtian’s question.
Fortunately, Li Qingtian didn’t expect him to answer that question. She smiled at him, and Tang Ye smiled back.
...
June 15, Jiuge.
In the dense jungles of Southern China, amid swirling mists, stood a dium-sized city encircled by steel walls over twenty ters high. The nacing spikes on the walls made it clear this wasn’t a place of beauty.
A malevolent aura seed to drift over the city. This was Cepuguo City, the largest drug production base in the Funan nation and the stronghold of its biggest drug trafficking organization. After the post-apocalyptic outbreak, the drug traffickers ford a powerful ard force and cleared the city of zombies.
In a world wildly altered by anti-life substances, situated in a tropical rainforest, Cepuguo City was surrounded by an overwhelming jungle. Had it not been for the inhabitants’ repair efforts, Cepuguo City would have long turned into a forest city by now.
This city was just non-existent when the Funan nation governnt still existed, but the arrival of the post-apocalyptic outbreak made it notorious. The two largest drug trafficking groups within Funan nation joined hands to create Jiuge. Even before the Apocalypse, due to economic issues, drugs were rampant in the country, with addicts accounting for a staggering twenty percent of the population. After the Apocalypse, the establishnt of Jiuge beca a paradise for these addicts and drug traffickers.
Without laws, taking drugs was no longer an illegal act because there was simply no one to enforce it. You could boldly stand in the middle of the street sucking in that milky white powder!
In the face of a massive base of addicts, the ruling power and deterrence within Jiuge allowed for an efficient establishnt of its ard forces. In the early to middle stages of the post-apocalyptic era, the remaining governnt of Funan nation tried to politicize Jiuge, but their attempts failed without controversy. The remnants of the governnt were engulfed by drug lords, catapulting Jiuge onto a divine pedestal. After that, things escalated uncontrollably, and wielding power comparable to a governnt, Jiuge began to aggressively take over other Survivor Forces within the Funan nation. In just over a year, Jiuge dominated the entire Funan nation!
With the arrival of the Apocalypse, the forr currency had beco worthless, and initially, Jiuge had no plans to continue the drug trade. After all, apart from the locals, there were people from other nations, and Arica was among the largest consur groups. However, in the midst of the Apocalypse, transportation routes were occupied by zombies, making transportation a significant problem. If only the local people were buying drugs in the post-apocalyptic world, the profits would be negligible to the drug lords.
Yet, unexpectedly, people in the midst of the Apocalypse harbored an inexplicable fear of zombies. Facing the threat of death, very few dared to take that step forward, as the saying goes, "It’s rare to walk along the roadside and not get your shoes wet," which was engraved in everyone’s mind. Especially the old humans, when facing zombies, the zombies could fail hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of tis, and they would rely end up hungry. But for the old humans, a single mistake ant reporting to the underworld.
Under such psychological pressure, very few took that step. They all waited for an opportunity, that was to naively hope to transform into the new humans, possessing immunity to the zombie virus before facing off against zombies.
So, people in the post-Apocalyptic world lived numbly. The survivors at Qinshan Base were a case in point, waiting for an elusive chance, escaping reality. It was precisely because of this that mbers of Jiuge discovered that drugs could give people a pleasant dream, imrsing them so deep that they couldn’t extricate themselves.
The potency of drugs in the post-Apocalyptic world was undiminished, even new humans couldn’t resist it. After a brief stint of sales, the traffickers were ecstatic. The drugs were as powerful as before the Apocalypse, captivating everyone. To continue enjoying the euphoric sensation, people in the post-Apocalyptic world dared to venture into the wastelands to hunt evolved zombies, just to obtain Evolution Crystals in exchange for more Yajin to keep using drugs. Jiuge naturally resud its original trade in stride.
Under the influence of drugs, the New World’s Yajin Economic System saw explosive growth. Now, it could be said that Jiuge was ard to the teeth.
This developnt bestowed a new na upon the birthplace of the two biggest drug trafficking groups of the Funan nation—Cepuguo City.
City of Drugs!
The drug dealers within embraced this new na for their city. The arrival of the Apocalypse had twisted people’s perception of morality. In Jiuge, a drug dealer was no longer a derogatory term. It had beco a symbol of status, far more esteed than the common folk. So people went to great lengths, trying to squeeze their way in to beco drug dealers.
Looking down from the sky over the entire City of Drugs, one could see the outskirts piled with rust-colored bones, among which were several semi-decayed corpses. The number of these bodies was so vast it was incalculable, stacked five to six ters high.
The source of these bodies was known to everyone in the City of Drugs, they were left from the initial phases of Jiuge clearing out the zombies of Cepuguo City. There were both human and zombie remains, but among these skeletons, there seed to be no animal corpses.
However, this was not strange. For humans, non-zombie animals were food. In the post-Apocalyptic world, every part of an animal was edible, not to ntion at, even a bone would be gnawed clean like a dog!
