From the little girl’s recent reaction, not screaming at the sight of a zombie indicated that the apocalypse had forced children to mature prematurely. Was this a good thing or a tragic one?

Tang Ye retracted his head and stood quietly. After a while, he heard footsteps below. Although the person making the sounds was trying to control the noise of their feet touching the ground, how sensitive were the ears of a Level 7 zombie?

He could clearly hear the footsteps below.

"Uncle, a zombie just looked at ."

Five or six seconds later, the little girl’s voice rang out as if she were speaking to an adult. Her voice was very soft but to Tang Ye’s ears very clear, tinged with faint sobbing. Clearly, she had been terrified by the sudden encounter and must have gone to another place, where there were other survivors.

No one responded after she spoke, but there was a succession of footsteps constantly entering Tang Ye’s ears.

This scene was strange. If anyone could see it, they would behold a group of survivors below, cautiously advancing towards the small waterway entrance, weapons in hand, followed by a little girl.

And above them, a white-haired zombie nearly three ters tall with a robust, slender figure, clad in a black robe, stood quietly.

Listening to the footsteps below, Tang Ye had an answer in his mind—there were at least five people coming, plus the little girl, making a total of six.

Tang Ye didn’t know what the survivors below were doing. There had been no noise for quite so ti, but he could guess they were probably checking the situation.

Soon, Tang Ye slled an extrely pungent odor, which instinctively disgusted him. He knew this substance. It was a concoction for driving away zombies, available in the United District Black Market. Bounty Hunters would always carry so with them when venturing outside.

In the wasteland, this was indispensable.

He saw zombies nearby run away screaming at the sll, while he himself, despite the stench, stayed in place. He didn’t even know why he did it.

After a while, there ca the rustling sounds from below, which seed to indicate the survivors were saring themselves with the zombie-repellent concoction. They likely didn’t realize that the zombie in question was one whose intelligence had surpassed regular humans.

They thought he had left, but he hadn’t. He was right above them!

The noise of them splashing the liquid on their clothes soon subsided, then a stick poked out from the drain cover below and knocked forcefully against the ground.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

The sound of the stick striking the ground wasn’t loud, but in the quiet environnt, it seed abrupt. The surrounding zombies heard the noise and howled, turning towards the sound. They ran over, enduring the repellent’s stench, only to be driven away by Tang Ye.

The scene quieted down once again, and then voices could be heard from below again, "Little girl, did you really see a zombie looking at you just now?"

"Yes."

A man asked the little girl, who seed unsure. To be honest, she was still a bit bewildered. Those eyes were not human, yet they were distinctly different from a zombie’s. She couldn’t quite define whether the creature she had seen was a zombie or sothing else.

However, its terrifying appearance was definitely not that of a person!

"Why is there no noise outside? Tell what it looks like."

"You too, what else can a zombie look like? How could a little girl describe it?" The survivors below quickly started bickering.

However, the little girl’s eyes lit up, and she whispered, "Uncle, I know what it looks like. It has white hair, very long, and its eyes are red, and then the whites of its eyes are black. Its eyes are so scary!"

"What?"

The survivors were stunned. What was that thing? Zombie eyes are supposed to be white, so where do the red ones co from?

"Are you sure what you saw was a zombie?"

"Mhm, it looked very scary, nothing like a human."

"Sigh, forget it. The girl just said it didn’t scream, and we made noise but it didn’t co out, it seems to have left."

"Alright, alright, there’s no point going on like this. Little girl, be careful next ti, and let us know promptly if there’s any situation."

"Okay!" The little girl crisply replied.

"Always ’okay, okay,’ when have you ever been fine? Don’t stay here, hurry back to your room. Watching outside all day, what’s there to see? What if it attracts zombies?"

A man’s angry voice rose. After speaking, he pulled the girl out, and then everyone dispersed. After they left, Tang Ye heard two people talking: "Sothing’s not right though, Little Blue Girl wouldn’t lie. Did she really see a zombie?"

"If she really saw one, shouldn’t sothing have happened? After all, we know what zombies are like. Wouldn’t they go mad upon seeing a person?"

"Could it be the intelligent zombie from a few days ago? Has it co back?"

"Possibly. Let’s go down and tell the brothers to be on guard. That zombie can use guns to shoot at people. A few days ago, the guys chopped off one of its hands. Sadly, they didn’t kill it, and we can’t guarantee it won’t hold a grudge against us, seeking revenge. It might have appeared just now, sneaking a peek at us from the sewer, but it didn’t expect to be seen by Little Blue Girl and has probably run off now."

"That’s possible, but..."

The voices of the conversation beca fainter, indicating that the survivors’ living space inside the sewer was not small.

However, the recent incident had given everyone a scare. Fortunately, it was a false alarm.

"Intelligent zombies?" Upon hearing this term, Tang Ye’s interest was piqued. He was short-staffed and to make zombies not attack humans, only those intelligent ones capable of taking orders were suitable, but he only had three at his disposal.

At that mont, Tang Ye had already left, and it was unclear what he was doing, but without anyone noticing, an eyeball with four legs had quickly crawled into the sewer entrance. After a while, the door of a room near the sewer opened, revealing that the once dirty sewer had been transford into a small haven for survivors. The inhabitants living there were not only nurous, but also exceptionally so.

The interconnected sewers had been hollowed out to create various openings, fitted with doors made of woven evolved plants, forming individual rooms for each survivor.

As the door opened, a little girl walked in. It was the sa girl who had spotted Tang Ye earlier. Unable to bear the oppressive world of the adults’ quarrels, she had spent half her life facing these gray-black walls. Only by looking at the outside world could she feel a sense of peace, drawn to its colorful allure, even though it also harbored countless man-eating zombies.
