At that mont, the child’s clothes were completely soaked by the spilled drink; the head of the regint jumped in fright and hurriedly said, "Sorry, sorry, uncle didn’t do it on purpose. Are you alright?"
The head of the regint tried to wipe the drink off the child’s clothes with his hand, but most people had clearly seen his previous action; it was obviously intentional, but no one dared to say anything, only watching as the head of the regint continued to pretend.
Perhaps he had so important matter to attend to.
The child was also stunned for a mont, but ultimately didn’t have as many sches as the adults; he shook his head and looked towards the head of the regint, uttering a few words that were difficult to comprehend.
"Head of the regint, he says it’s okay."
"Oh oh! If it’s all right, then that’s good!" The head of the regint nodded, continued to speak to the child, "I’m really sorry, uncle didn’t do it on purpose. Your clothes are wet, take them off."
The child nodded his head. How could he see what the head of the regint’s purpose was?
In this way, his wet clothes were taken off; the head of the regint pinched the clothes he was wearing underneath and said, "Oh, I really wasn’t careful enough, the inside is wet too, take that off as well. Wearing wet clothes can give you a cold, here, wear mine."
The nearby staff translated, and after understanding, the child didn’t resist. He reached to take off his long-sleeved shirt underneath, even though he kept grasping a cloth bag next to him the whole ti. The head of the regint glanced at it unwittingly and then took off his coat.
"Take it off, wear this one."
The child smoothly took off his clothes, revealing the skin on his upper body, and on his chest, there was a striking purple-red pattern!
Unlike before, when the head of the regint could only see part of the pattern, now it was fully exposed in front of him! That emblem with nine and a half feathers, only soldiers from Jiuge had such a thing.
The head of the regint’s gaze flickered, his face showing no change; he looked at the child’s hand, tightly clutching the drawstring of the cloth bag. What could be inside the bag?
After draping the coat over him, the head of the regint stood up, went over to a soldier and asked, "How long have you been here?"
"Since a year ago."
"Hmm." Captain Wang nodded.
"Been through quite a few life-and-death situations, haven’t you?"
"Of course, I’ve gotten used to it. It feels particularly thrilling to crawl out alive from a pile of corpses every ti."
"Indeed."
"Head of the regint, you suddenly called for ; is there sothing up? Don’t worry, if you have any problems, I’d climb a mountain of knives or descend into a sea of fire to help you sort it out."
"You little rascal, who asked you to climb mountains of knives or descend into seas of fire, really!"
The head of the regint laughingly raised his hand and slapped it onto the soldier’s head, then said, "But indeed, there is one thing. Do you know that every soldier in Jiuge who joins the military has a tattoo of the Jiuge emblem?"
"What about it? When the seven commissioners were here, I didn’t know how many tis I fought with people from Jiuge, and they all had these tattoos; it’s a half-wing, right?"
"Hmm," the head of the regint nodded.
"Hey, head of the regint, why are you asking these questions? You’ve been here even longer than , how can you not know about this?"
"Of course, I know, but there’s sothing very strange, all those children saw it, right?"
"What do you see, what’s wrong?" the soldier turned his head back to take a look, nodded, and asked, puzzled.
"They all have Jiuge logo tattoos as well."
"They have them, too?"
"Yes, it’s strange, but never mind, I’ll look again."
Having said that, the Head of the regint was about to go inside, but just as he moved his foot, a voice from the staff inside, speaking the Funan language, ca through. He couldn’t understand it, but when he entered, he saw the staff were searching the child’s cloth bag.
"There’s nothing inside, quickly put your hands in, or you’ll catch a cold."
"Alright, put it down for now. We’re not taking your stuff, just put your clothes on properly."
"Don’t be afraid, we’re not the bad guys, okay?"
The Head of the regint entered and saw two staff mbers telling the child to put down his cloth bag, seemingly wanting the child to get dressed. But when a staff mber tried to forcefully make the child let go of the tight grasp on his cloth bag, the child suddenly erupted, let out a roar, and pushed the woman in front of him away!
But how could a child’s strength compare to an adult’s, even if she was a woman? An adult’s strength is not sothing a child can match, but the staff mber didn’t want to hurt him; the way he pushed made the woman nad Caishu fall backward.
Facing danger, her survival instincts kicked in; she grasped at the child’s cloth bag trying to pull herself up, but how could the child’s strength support the tendency of her fall?
Bang!
With a dull thud, Caishu fell to the ground, her body reeling backward, and the bag snaptured from her hand spun out, hitting the ground and opening from the force, its contents spilling out not far from the Head of the regint!
The contents that spilled out froze the atmosphere instantly, as if ti stopped!
The items that tumbled out, besides so odds and ends, most notably included two handheld ray guns!
Everyone was stunned at that mont, including the Head of the regint who stared wide-eyed, his mind buzzing.
The child from whom the bag was snatched just stared blankly, the other staff mbers shocked, all turned to look upon seeing the shiny weapons; their faces filled with confusion.
A child had a gun? What did this an?
There were weapons in the child’s bag; recalling the strange behaviour they had just witnessed, the Head of the regint’s mind halted, leaving only three words!
Child soldiers!
He quickly realized, shouting, "Get out of here! It’s dangerous!"
His voice snapped everyone to attention; still unclear what was happening, a child standing in the corner suddenly stood up, glaring angrily at the child who had lost the bag, yelling sothing in their language, which the Head of the regint couldn’t understand, but the other staff mbers did, and they shook visibly.
"You are... you really are... let’s go!"
Several staff mbers who understood the Funan language shouted and hurried towards the door. However, at the sa ti, the child in the corner uttered a few syllables, and imdiately, all the children stood up, from as old as eleven or twelve to as young as six or seven. No matter who they were, at this mont, their faces bore a fierceness not matching their ages!
Suddenly, the scene beca extrely chaotic, with the children babbling sothing unrecognizable, each one opening their own "luggage" and without hesitation pulling out a laser weapon, crazily shooting at the fleeing staff and the soldiers!
