"That’s true, so are so powerful that the weak below them have no ability to resist. The world is not what it used to be."
"Yes, humans should not possess such great power."
"You’ve taken so many places, but tell , what exactly are you looking for?"
"I just want to find one truth."
"Huh? What truth?"
"The truth of the apocalypse. It’s too bizarre, there was no warning, it just happened. It’s like soone suddenly getting angry and causing all of this."
"So you’ve been wandering around? And telling fortunes for people, yet you haven’t found a single clue?"
"Clues... there are so, but too few to make any deductions."
"What clues?"
"Clues about the apocalypse. On the day the Yindan Base fell, I did a fortune-telling for soone. That person was quite peculiar."
"How peculiar?"
"He wasn’t human."
"Oh, not human..."
"And then I fled..."
"You fled, and that’s it? What clue did you get?"
"I encountered another person. I don’t know how he appeared before , as if out of thin air."
"And then?"
"After that, I got a clue."
"..."
"The na of the clue is ’Disaster God’."
"Disaster God?"
"I don’t know what it ans, but do you dare to believe that ti is actually a loop, with its end connected to its beginning? We walk back and forth on this line, constantly cycling, and soone wants to change that. To stretch ti into a line that can be infinitely postponed, and then, he sent soone out, a person without a na."
"Without a na?"
"Yes, but he has a codena, called ’Break’."
"What a strange na."
"It should be so, but there are two more people, one of them is called ’dicine’. The other person’s codena, I still don’t know."
"The one who wants to change ti, his subordinates must be very powerful, right? Are they gods? But you ntioned ’Disaster God’, isn’t it the person you’re talking about? But are there really gods in this world? If they are gods, you couldn’t possibly defeat his subordinates, could you?"
"Heh, gods? What is a god? Humans haven’t precisely defined them. They can be people who are very strong in a certain field, or those very strong people could be mythical beings who control the weather and the clouds with a wave of their hands. But what they really are, neither you nor I know. As for those three people, they are not gods either. They are now, like us, doing what they want to do, unaware of their responsibilities. However, they will play their respective roles in the future."
"Like ’dicine’?"
"That should be the case. Their nas and codenas serve the sa purpose."
"dicine, it’s sothing that alleviates pain and illness. Does it have so special aning?"
"I’m not sure, there’s too little to grasp, many things are too vague. Let ask you a question."
"What question?"
"What is this world, really?"
"I... I don’t know."
"But I hope you can understand."
"Huh? What do you an?"
In the crowd, a middle-aged man in a black, retro Zhongshan suit, who looked sowhat bulky, and a young girl in a brown cloak intently watched the fireworks burst into the sky.
The girl was confused and clouded in a fog of bewildernt, but the middle-aged man shook his head and thought to himself, "You could very well be one of those three..."
...
rcenary Guild Building.
The firmly closed doors finally opened to the outside, and survivors from the apocalyptic world began to trickle in and out. So ca to receive their tasks for the new day, so strong newcors to the United District ca to register their bounty accounts, and there were employers who wanted to issue bounty quests for certain tasks.
The comings and goings created a bustling scene until suddenly, an extensively modified large truck drove up, screeching to a halt in front of the building. The wildly modified body of the truck was covered with an air of ferocity, and on its cargo bed was a behemoth of a thing covered in cloth with thick pus oozing from underneath.
A Level 4 New Human jumped out of the truck, wrung the cloth underneath into a twist, and fiercely pulled down the behemoth from the top.
Soon after, several more people descended from the vehicle, and those who recognized them let out exclamations of surprise.
"It’s the Grey Line rcenary Group; they’ve completed a bounty task."
"Tsk tsk, looks like they made it, another 3,000 Yajin in the bag."
Among those who got off the truck was a burly man exuding a thick scent of blood. He, indeed, carried an aura of genuine substance, standing there so that even ordinary people could feel the murderous aura bursting from within him at any mont!
The burly man seed to enjoy being revered. After standing in place for a while, he finally turned to the few behind him and said, "You guys, help drag that thing inside!"
"Yes!"
The high-level New Humans following the burly man imdiately sprang into action, helping the Level 4 New Human drag the monstrosity into the rcenary Guild Building.
Judging by the shape of the behemoth, it was clearly so creature’s massive head, with pus still streaming from its severed connections, the color making it evident that it was a high-level zombie’s head.
As the Grey Line rcenary Group dragged it, a thick black and yellow trail of blood ford on the ground, and a hard-to-describe stench began to perate the air.
After dragging the zombie head into the building’s delivery plaza, the burly man confidently approached Uncle Lei’s counter and flung his phone on the desk.
"Old Lei, it’s done. Take a look for yourself, is this the thing?"
As he spoke, he unlocked his phone, revealing an image of a zombie, but one that was clearly dead.
"Yes, yes, that’s it. Where’s the rchandise?"
"In the plaza."
The burly man casually pointed backwards with his thumb. Uncle Lei nodded and instructed a few people from the rcenary Guild to check. Shortly, they returned and gave Uncle Lei a nod of confirmation. Smiling, Uncle Lei sat down, booted up his computer and started typing.
Soon after, the burly man’s phone chid, and the account was credited with more than 3,000 Yajin.
"Hey, that settles it. Keep busy, Old Lei. We’re heading back now. The past few days we’ve been exhaustively searching for this guy; it’s worn us all out."
As the burly man turned to leave, Uncle Lei, unexpectedly, grabbed a corner of his clothing.
"Hey, Zhiyuan brother, wait a second!"
The burly man raised an eyebrow, teasingly looking at Uncle Lei, "Yo, it’s not often you act like this. What’s up, got sothing for ?"
"Of course, there’s sothing!" Uncle Lei said with animated eyebrows, beckoning the burly man with his finger.
The burly man was quick to catch on, imdiately leaning his head closer.
"Got a secret mission for you, interested?"
"Secret mission?"
The burly man’s eyes lit up. As an S-level bounty hunter of the rcenary Guild, he was well aware of what a secret mission involved!
