"I only found out about these things when Jin Liudong unaccountably disappeared. All this ti, the United District has been losing in the struggle against Jiuge. Originally, the United District held a slight advantage, but the disagreent among the seven committee mbers in the United District often leads to conflict. anwhile, Jiuge is run by a dictator, so their decision-making process is always a step ahead of the United District’s."
"So why did you co to the prison? It seems Jin Wenyi, the son of Jin Liudong, is locked up here. You didn’t co to see him, did you? If Jin Liudong has disappeared without reason, or died, then this rich kid is probably of no use anymore, right?"
The bedraggled soldier gave a bitter laugh and said, "Searching for him was not only my idea. I don’t know if you’ve heard the legend of the dead coming back to life, but it really did happen."
"The dead co back to life?"
"Yes, the resurrection of the dead. I don’t know who discovered this, but allegedly soone saw a man dismbered one day, only to see him alive a few days later. This spurred research and the establishnt of a mysterious organization called The Resting Research Institute."
Tang Ye suddenly realized it. He wasn’t quite sure what caused the Resting, but they seed to be quite different from normal human beings."
"Please go on."
"This organization is very secretive, no one knows where it is located. But I’ve heard that the resurrected people are no longer human. They are entirely different from their previous selves and possess characteristics similar to zombies. They cannot be killed unless you blow their heads off. The institute found out so secrets of the Resting after many years of research. The lunatics inside even wanted to create immortal superhumans. However, creating superhumans required experinting on people with unique physical constitutions. Thus, the organization would send strange invitation cards to the selected individuals, like an invitation to join them, Jin Liudong received one."
"I have also heard that this organization can resurrect certain dead people artificially. However, God knows whether they would co back as humans or ghosts."
Tang Ye’s eyes narrowed slightly. Resurrecting the dead violated the laws of nature. He didn’t let the bedraggled soldier continue because he had pretty much guessed it. He said, "The invitation...is it essentially a key to enter The Resting Research Institute?"
"Yes, you’re correct, Chairman. Those who possess the invitation can enter the organization and beco a superhuman."
"So, after Jin Liudong disappeared and you got the news, you wanted to enter the organization too. But without an invitation, you couldn’t find the organization, so you ca looking for Jin Wenyi?"
"Exactly. After all, the appeal of immortality is strong for us."
Tang Ye didn’t say anything further. His gaze reflected deep thoughts. He didn’t care about the Resting Research Institute that the bedraggled soldier ntioned. Instead, he was pondering about sothing else - the eting the soldier ntioned.
"Wait, did you ntion that the United District is holding a conference?"
"Yeah, what’s wrong?" The bedraggled soldier looked puzzled.
"In fact, these seven committee mbers have held many etings. Basically, they convene a eting whenever sothing cos up. The final decision is made by their votes. However, even small matters take a long ti because of this."
"So, all seven committee mbers attend these etings, right?" Tang Ye asked.
The bedraggled soldier looked at him curiously, then nodded. What he didn’t see was the spark of malicious intent in Tang Ye’s eyes.
"That can work...very well, haha!"
He suddenly burst into laughter, startling the disheveled soldier.
"What’s going on?"
"When are they holding the eting?"
"I don’t know, but it should be in the next few days. Co to think of it, tomorrow seems to be the day that Jiuge and United District are about to sign a ceasefire agreent."
"Good."
Tang Ye smiled and walked to the disheveled soldier, patted him friendlily on the shoulder. Just as the soldier assud Tang Ye was going to reward him, Tang Ye suddenly ordered, "Guards, take him to the prison."
"Yes!"
The disheveled soldier looked bewildered, and before he ca to his senses, several Peace Party soldiers ca up in front of him, took him away to the prison. As Tang Ye was about to go upstairs, he heard a commotion coming from above.
"Beautiful woman, don’t run!"
The sound of footsteps descending the staircase ca from above. Soon, a panic-stricken Gong Xiao appeared before Tang Ye. Seeing Tang Ye, she looked relieved and hurriedly hid behind him.
"Boss, sobody is trying to kill !"
Tang Ye looked ahead and saw Ah Fu rushing down the staircase. But when Ah Fu saw Tang Ye, he froze, turned around, and tried to run back up.
"What are you doing? Co here!"
"Hehehe... Boss..."
"Are you sure you want to ss with her?"
Ah Fu snapped back to reality, looking embarrassed, but still asked curiously, "Why not?"
Tang Ye did not respond directly. He scanned the surrounding, then walked with Gong Xiao over to Ah Fu and whispered, "I think you’re sex-mad and can’t distinguish between humans and ghosts."
Ah Fu was initially confused, but after pondering over Tang Ye’s words, he imdiately noticed sothing was off in what Tang Ye had said. His eyes widened like copper bells as he turned to look at Gong Xiao, who returned him a teasing smile.
This smile not only failed to arouse Ah Fu’s lustful thoughts but scared him instead.
"I was wondering what was wrong, so it turns out..."
He then scratched his head and sidled over to Tang Ye, strictly avoiding looking at Gong Xiao, who, inexplicably, was no longer afraid of Ah Fu. Instead, she seed eager to tease him, her laughter nonstop.
"Ah Fu, I need you to co with to Pingnan Base later."
"Oh, okay."
Ah Fu answered, avoiding eye contact. His behavior was unusually disciplined. Tang Ye glanced at Gong Xiao, who was still flirting and giggling, eager to have Ah Fu devour her.
"Didn’t I arrange a place for you? Why did you co here?" Tang Ye curiously asked Gong Xiao. To ensure that Ah Fu wasn’t distracted by Gong Xiao, he had specifically arranged for Gong Xiao to stay elsewhere. So why had she co to the Peace Party? Was it because she needed sothing from him?
Unexpectedly, Gong Xiao didn’t say anything. She shyly glanced at Tang Ye, lowered her head, and Tang Ye instantly understood. He scoffed.
This damned woman didn’t co here because of so matter, she clearly just wanted to have so fun based on what he had said the other day. She ca to the Peace Party specifically to et Ah Fu.
Maybe it was because Ah Fu’s lustful reputation was so widespread that Gong Xiao decided to co to the Peace Party to see him.
However, by her behavior, she probably had no idea that Ah Fu was actually a zombie, while Ah Fu had already figured out that she was a zombie.
