United District... Jiang Cong Headquarters... Zombie King?

Wait! Zombie King?

Qiongli suddenly realized the reason for Lin City’s bombing. Zombie King?

"Wait a second, husband, what does this Zombie King look like?"

The man on the other end paused for a mont, his ensuing words filled with dread - a fear of magic.

"It’s hard to explain. He has long, white hair; no wings, but he can fly. Moreover, he possesses sothing similar to magic powers. As for his appearance... well, I can’t describe it. Anyway, where are you guys right now, Qiongli? Are you safe? You must ensure your safety!"

Listening to her husband’s concerned words, a smile spread across Qiongli’s face, her heart ward, "Hush now, I’m fine. We’ve already left Lin City, and we should be close to the border of S Province soon. Don’t worry."

"Ok, you guys don’t need to rush anymore. Find sowhere safe first. You’re traveling on the expressway, right? It’s quite dangerous - there are carjacking gangs. Just let know your current location. I’ll do whatever I can to have the higher-ups send a chopper for you."

Yang Daowei firmly said, and Qiongli chuckled, not taking it seriously. She was well aware of Yang Daowei’s predicant.

She was a Level 3 New Human, but her husband, Yang Daowei, was rely a Level 1 New Human.

Although Chenyang Base No.169 did not promote the survival of the fittest, those with less power still faced difficulties in getting things done within the base.

Before the Apocalypse, Yang Daowei was the second generation of governnt officials. Leveraging his parents’ connections, he had reached a rather high position, thus having more resources than others after the Apocalypse.

"No need. I’ll be fine. I certainly will co back to see you. Don’t bother yourself, we’re alright."

"What do you an ’alright’? It’s incredibly dangerous out there. If anything happens to you..." Yang Daowei anxiously interjected, but after a mont, he sighed heavily. His current powers counted for nothing. Indeed, Chenyang Base No.169 was far superior to other bases. Yet, under the prevailing circumstances, those short of power will still face restrictions, just not life-threatening ones.

Given Yang Daowei’s current status, requesting a helicopter to pick up Qiongli would be quite challenging, whether they would send a helicopter or not would depend on the superior officers.

But these superior officers were not known for their compassion, making it a hopeless cause for Chen Daowei.

However, the more considerate Qiongli was, the more upset Chen Daowei felt.

"Yes, you must return safely. I’m just... a useless husband! I’m sorry~"

There was a series of slaps across the line, seemingly Chen Daowei slapping himself feeling guilty towards Qiongli.

Hearing the commotion at the other end, Qiongli tensed up, wanting to say sothing but unable to find the words.

"Qiongli, our son says he misses you. Would you like to talk with him?"

"Yes, please give him the phone."

"Mommy..."

A naive voice of a little boy ca through the phone. Only after chatting with him for a while did Qiongli reluctantly end the call.

As she put away her "Nokia" handset as if it were a treasure, she suddenly noticed Tian Ye’s tense expression.

It was an expression she’d never seen on Tian Ye.

"You have a son?"

"I know what you’re thinking. Maybe the boy’s father had his reasons for handing him to . But don’t worry, since we are predestined, I will treat him like my own."

Doubt flickered across Tian Ye’s face, but he ultimately said nothing. Due to a TV series from his childhood called "Warm Spring", although he discovered later on that it was actually the aunt who is unkind to the female lead, the misimpression that it was the stepmother has stuck with him, and he has always seen stepmothers as harmful beings.

Hearing that Qiongli had her own son, he couldn’t help worrying if Qiongli would mistreat Nannan.

With that thought, a fierce light occasionally flashed in Tian Ye’s eyes. If Qiongli ever dared to do so, he would be ready to kill her entire family!

But judging by Qiongli’s words, they were probably true. After spending a few days with her, Tian Ye had a rough idea of the type of person she was - a righteous Western woman who felt right to trust.

If she were in a movie, she’d be the lead character, always gaining people’s trust involuntarily. Otherwise, there wouldn’t have been so many people listening to her in the beginning.

However, Qiongli didn’t make excessive promises to Tian Ye. Talking too much would save her from sounding verbose and dishonest, and it would seem more like she was trying to please Tian Ye, which she disdained to do.

Glancing at the mobile phone on her waist and then at Nannan who was in Bai Xinran’s arms fast asleep, she suddenly rembered what Nannan had said earlier. Although her words seed naive, her husband’s words about the Zombie King had provided so clues.

Nannan’s father was said to be very strong and could command zombies. Considering from multiple angles, he should be a zombie, a high-level zombie...

Long white hair and can fly. Nannan’s father can fly too. Also, it was in Lin City that she encountered Nannan. What was weird was the group of zombies around her. Now that she thinks about it, Qiongli felt that those zombies were protecting Nannan, and she herself was chosen by Nannan’s father.

The young man nad Li Henian was possibly assigned to protect Nannan’s safety or to monitor her...

"Hey, is her father the Zombie King?" Qiongli turned and asked. Although she’d guessed so of it, she didn’t dare to be certain. Was a zombie that could force the United District to destroy it with a nuclear bomb of low rank?

Gazing at the star-lit night sky, Tian Ye mumbled, "You don’t need to know all this. As long as you can do what you said you would, I will protect you guys all the way to the base. She really has to go."

Qiongli’s gaze dropped. She seed to sense the father’s reluctance to part with his children from Tian Ye’s words.

"He must be very reluctant, right?"

Tian Ye didn’t answer, but Qiongli continued, "Actually, it doesn’t matter if he really is a zombie. Regardless of what he has done, at least he was able to remain rational for his children. He’s the bravest."

"Perhaps, still, thank you."

Qiongli gave a light smile, then closed her eyes to rest. Tian Ye remained blankly staring until sunrise when his eyes suddenly beca vacant.

In the Qinshan Base on the other side, Tian Ye opened the door and looked at the sparse sunlight. The atmosphere in the Qinshan Base was oppressive, just like its society, full of violence and bloodshed in the darkness.

He didn’t even know how many days he’d been in this room. As his avatar moved farther and farther from him, the energy he used to control it beca greater and greater.

He didn’t even know how many days had passed, but he felt that preparations from Xu Haishui’s side should be nearly complete.

Perhaps because of the weather, Titan Ye felt a certain pressure, similar to the pressure that normal people feel. He chose to go out, just like what the elders say, getting out could help clear his mind.

As he walked past the door of a room in the corridor, he heard a suppressed roar from inside.
