Smack!

Boom!

The severed tail of the pseudo-dragon spun in the air, emitting a crisp noise before smashing towards Tang Ye. Accompanying that was a loud crash, as Tang Ye, along with Ah Fu writhed in his arms, was flung into the sky, an unknown height and distance away...

The pseudo-dragon’s half body then shot straight out, its massive recoil sending it up into the sky, disappearing into the horizon with Xu Haishui as nothing more than a black dot.

The airborne insects that were knocked away fluttered like fairy dust, seemingly afraid of sunlight. Under its glare, their wings fluttered feebly before they dropped onto the ground lifelessly.

In mid-air, Tang Ye held Ah Fu with one hand, and on checking behind him, realized he was about to collide with this gigantic tree. He quickly folded his flesh wings and spread out the wings on his back to stabilize his spinning body, landing on an "island" at where the base of the huge tree trunk had been pulled up.

Thud...!

Just as his feet hit the ground, Tang Ye instinctively let go of Ah Fu. But since Ah Fu was still in mid-air when he let go, Ah Fu rolled out like a ping pong ball, disturbing a field of flowers before eventually coming to a stop.

Tang Ye rushed to fetch him, only taking a few steps before seeing that Ah Fu was wriggling in place, so he went over and untied Ah Fu’s tentacles.

After dragging Ah Fu to lie down under the tree trunk, Tang Ye took a careful look at the surroundings.

They were now under a massive tree, a tree root that had bulged the ground to an extre height. In Tang Ye’s view, this root looked like a mountain range, with spaces large enough in the bark to fit several Tang Ye’s!

"An evolved plant, is it edible?"

Doubt and surprise filled Tang Ye’s eyes. He touched the bark and then broke off a piece of it, revealing the layers inside.

This kind of tall tree, a few hundred ters in height, certainly didn’t exist before the apocalypse. But in the apocalypse, anything could happen. Humans and animals could turn into zombies or evolve, so why couldn’t plants evolve too?

This tree, he thought, must have also evolved into its current shape.

If it’s evolved, perhaps it’s edible. If it is, then this huge tree would be a real treasure!

With this thought in mind, Tang Ye felt a surge of excitent. His anticipation for the road to evolution was growing stronger.

Anyone would feel the sa way. This was sothing that none had seen before the apocalypse. It was sothing that could only be seen in novels, in fantasy tales!

In this world, who wouldn’t yearn to fly on a sword like in the world of Xianxia? To explore the boundless, endless universe?

The universe is so vast that humans seem insignificant in comparison. Earth is big, but in the grand sche of the universe, it’s nothing more than a grain of sand in a desert, or even a re bacterium.

Who would be content living in such a mysterious universe, where they can’t even afford a thirty-square ter property?

If there is a chance, a chance to explore the entire universe rely by one’s own physical body, who would choose to remain ordinary?

Perhaps there are so, but Tang Ye refused. Despite his twisted mind due to the zombified state, he was still curious about this universe and wanted to fulfill a dream that wasn’t his own...

All of this requires becoming stronger!

Strong to an extent similar to the mythical gods. At that point, what he wanted was simple – to see the expression of that girl when she t him again.

All of this, was sothing he eagerly anticipated.

Anyway, Tang Ye took another look at the bark in his hand, and cautiously took a little shape.

Yuck!

Tang Ye dry-retched as soon as his tongue touched the bark. It reminded him of the first bag of chips he ate right after turning into a zombie – the taste was abhorrent, he couldn’t swallow it!

He threw away the piece of bark. Then he looked at the layers of the tree that were exposed and tore off a little bit to sniff it.

The sll didn’t seem off, and it didn’t trigger an urge for bloody at; it was rather unremarkable.

After so hesitation, Tang Ye thought that maybe the bark was too old and that the outer cells were dead, and therefore unpalatable. Perhaps... the real taste was underneath?

Despite trying to convince himself, as soon as he put the tree’s formation layer into his mouth, like before, it made him retch, and he spat it out.

"Such a big tree, isn’t there anything edible?"

Looking at the towering tree crown, the bigger his hopes, the bigger his disappointnts. From initially thinking that this massive tree as an evolved plant should be edible, to now realizing, it seed that just like human food, a zombie couldn’t digest a plant!

The more he thought about it, the more unwilling Tang Ye beca. The pseudo-dragon and Xu Haishui had been flung sowhere unknown, but from the way they were flying, it seed inevitable that the pseudo-dragon would be zombified.

The situation was irreversible.

Before, he had nursed the slim chance of the pseudo-dragon dying due to so accident, but now, that slight hope was ruthlessly shattered, turning all his expectations into a fantasy.

Ah Fu had evolved. If the pseudo-dragon hadn’t been turned into a zombie dragon by Xu Haishui, he might have been able to swallow it whole and evolve into a Level 6 zombie!

The re thought of this stirred him, but now this was just impractical.

Couldn’t get hold of the pseudo-dragon anymore. This left only the massive tree, the Tang Ye stood a chance to benefit sothing from this huge tree, but it seed the opposite. All of this, combined with previous difficulties, ignited Tang Ye’s fury.

Glancing at the unconscious evolving Ah Fu beside him, he then fell silent for a mont, muttering, "Perhaps another lackey wouldn’t be so bad..."

Left with no other choice, Tang Ye was now self-consoling to balance his emotions.

After looking at the green sea behind him and then back at the massive tree, Tang Ye finally cald himself down.

"Alright, this tree surely isn’t ordinary! But nothing seems peculiar on the outside, so let’s see inside. It’s an evolved plant; there should be an Evolution Crystal Core in there."

Thinking of this made him eager to give it a try. He moved Ah Fu aside, his fists tight. His bone spurs broke through his flesh covering his entire arm. Tang Ye started his tree-boring activity.

In the next hour, Tang Ye had dug more than ten ters inside from the tree’s surface. However, as he soared towards the inner part, his bone knife, which had initially chopped the wood without any resistance, was becoming more and more burdenso. Eventually, it felt like hacking into steel. His bone knife even got chipped.

"Hiss~ It’s so hard?"

Feeling the slick wood in front of him, Tang Ye drew in a breath, and with it, his bone knife fell again.

Crack!

This ti, the bone blade broke directly, and Tang Ye withdrew helplessly.

Looks like evolving into a Level 6 zombie was out of the question for him today. This thick tree, getting harder inside might not be strange, but this was excessively hard!
