Boom!

A flutter of his back wings, and Tang Ye’s feet left the ground, initiating a low-altitude flight.

Clickety-clack...

Due to the human body not being naturally designed for aerial stabilization - lacking avian features to control airflow - Tang Ye’s blood-and-flesh-made wings need to be large to keep him aloft.

But as the wings expand, each flap causes significant destruction. Of course, this is not an issue during high-altitude flight.

What bothered Tang Ye the most was the peculiar sensation of controlling these wings during flight. It was an indescribable feeling, akin to trying to move his forefinger but moving his pinky instead.

He found himself in the sa position. Both wings flapping simultaneously was manageable if he focused most attention on them. But if he didn’t pay attention, one wing could stop while the other continued, causing him to suddenly spin.

Struggling to control his shape, Tang Ye flew onto a building to avoid drawing attention from the people on the helicopter. He then retracted his wings, transforming himself into a shadow, ghostly traversing between the buildings.

Five minutes later, Tang Ye arrived at Zhiyang Lakeshore. He was surprised to find that his side was bare, void of greenery, peppered only with debris. But, the other side was lush with towering trees!

Oil-like substances floated on the lake surface, likely nitroglycerine from shells fired by the military during their assault on the dragon.

The trees on the other side were lush and covered the entire mountain. Despite being sowhat obstructed by the green leaves, Tang Ye could make out what was written on the signs erected among the trees..

Zhiyang National Protected Forest Park!

Zhiyang Lake used to be a famous tourist spot in Lin City before the Apocalypse. When the outbreak occurred, nurous people were present here, many of whom likely turned into zombies. However, he didn’t know where they had gone.

The opposite side with the lush trees was not normal either. Tang Ye didn’t often visit, but he knew these trees weren’t natural. They had probably mutated due to anti-life matter.

They too had evolved.

In the distance, he saw vague human shapes moving around, likely busy with sothing.

They were soldiers, who had just disembarked from the transport helicopter. Tang Ye guessed that ard helicopters and fighters should arrive soon after.

Thinking of the fighters, a flash of excitent crossed Tang Ye’s eyes. He yearned to rush over, kill the soldiers, and haul off their weapons. Even if he couldn’t use them, he could hand them over to the underlings at the gathering point.

However, realizing that none of his subordinates knew how to operate these machines, he gave up on the idea.

The soldiers had spent such a long ti trying to kill the dragon - maybe they were useless?

Murmuring under his breath, Tang Ye found a large rock, hid behind it, and patiently waited for their actions.

Regarding the so-called dragon, Tang Ye had intense curiosity. As soone from China before the Apocalypse, the mystical dragon intrigued him. He wanted to see what the legendary dragons looked like- whether for the dragon’s evolution crystal core or not.

Did it resemble the descriptions in the ancient texts?

After a while, as Tang Ye had predicted, several ard helicopters flew over from the horizon. Seeing this, Tang Ye laid flat, opened a hole in the back of his neck, and quietly extended a tentacle to prop up on the rock, silently observing everything!

"All assemble!"

An officer shouted as he waved his military blade, and the soldiers quickly ford ranks, standing neatly together.

The five ard helicopters in the sky flew side by side, hovering fearlessly, not concerned that the dragon would suddenly erge from the lake and wipe them out!

Tang Ye understood that the reason for not establishing a base here was the dragon in Zhiyang Lake. Many aircraft had already fallen into its clutches, as evidenced by the burnt bridge piers in the distance. The bridge was no more, but several helicopter and fighter remnants remained, and countless more were subrged at the bottom of the lake.

The noncommissioned officer spouted a lot of aningless words. Then, after dismissing the preparation, soldiers started unloading a trendous anti-aircraft gun from the transport aircraft.

Tang Ye didn’t know where the gun was specifically targeting, but its thick barrel made him recognize its dangerous potential, even though he only had a mild interest in military affairs.

Next, the soldiers successively unloaded five more guns from the transport aircraft, all aid at the heart of the lake!

Once the guns were ready, the officer entered a nearby tent.

"Yi Shao, we are ready now. But should we really proceed like this? What if it doesn’t work?"

"What do you an, ’if it doesn’t work’?"

The casual-dressed man in front of the officer slamd the table in anger when he heard this, an epileptic-like manner showing on his face! His authoritative smack twisted the table’s steel fra!

From this, one could tell that this casual-dressed man was no ordinary person.

"It has to work! I’ve put in so much effort into preparing all of this. Today, no matter what, I will have that monster’s Evolution Crystal Core!"

"But..."

"What but?"

When the officer flinched, Yi Shao, the casual-dressed man, narrowed his eyes. A trace of murderous intent flashed across.

Feeling an anomaly, the officer dared not refute. Yi Shao continued.

"Chen Huaijiang killed my father! I won’t let him go! I will kill him!"

The murderous intent was directed towards Chen Huaijiang, who was hundreds of kiloters away, materializing into a palpable being.

The powerful aura of a Level 3 New Human dispersed, causing the officer to step back. He, too, was a New Human, and could sense Yi Shao’s anomaly.

"Yes, sir!" After saluting, the officer fled the tent.

Yi Shao had reached the point of madness. Ever since he learned about the dragon in Zhiyang Lake in Lin City, he had been tirelessly sending operatives from Qinshan Base. However, they had failed ti and again. After Chen Huaijiang murdered his father, Yi Shao’s obsession with the dragon’s Crystal Core had reached a reckless level.

Today, Yi Shao had brought along all of the remaining Thermobaric bombs from the base, which were also known as radiation-free miniature nuclear bombs. He was planning to kill the dragon, take the Evolution Crystal Core, and beco an even stronger New Human!

Shaking his head, the officer looked at the lake and thought to himself: "I hope it will work this ti."

The previous attempts had all ended in failure. Now, they had ten Thermobaric bombs, known as ’radiation-free miniature nuclear bombs’. Moreover, they had severely wounded the monster in the lake during the last attack.

This ti, the chances of success should be much higher!
