This night, the stars were densely scattered across the sky, adorning the beautiful night curtain with mystical hues that enthralled the beholders, making them wish they could transform into heavenly beings, soaring into the magical cosmos to uncover its mysteries.

Such a spectacular scene was hard to co by before the Apocalypse. Back then, rapid advancents in human technology and the resultant pollution were incessantly tarnishing the environnt. Now, without those human factories, the sky had reclaid its original beauty.

Perhaps humans were the ones that should never have appeared on this planet in the first place.

They always spoke of protecting Earth, but they were ruining it every passing mont!

The so-called protection of the Environnt was nothing more than safeguarding themselves. Even if the Earth’s environnt was completely destroyed, the Earth would still be the Earth. But what about humans? Would they still survive?

Suddenly, a fierce wind rose, shaking the dead trees of Lin City, with the "crackling" sounds echoing through the wind, as if they could break at any mont. But fortunately, they held on.

Clouds began to gather in the sky and soon blanketed the skyline of Lin City. Under the illumination of the night, they cast an eerie red glow.

Drip! Drip!

Tiny droplets of rain began to fall, washing away so of the day’s sins as they hit the ground.

The raindrops grew larger, transforming into a torrential downpour.

The first light of dawn broke across the sky and a slow-rising sun cast its glow, dispelling so of the gloom of the apocalypse.

Zhou Ranjun half-opened his eyes, having had a long dream in which everything was beautiful. There was no apocalypse, and he was living a peaceful life with his wife, ploughing and weaving, until they had a chubby baby.

But the dream had ended, and he returned to reality, ready to face this damned apocalypse.

Everything in front of him beca clear. The first thing he saw was a tall figure sitting on a chair, his long legs resting on a table that had been crushed to a fraction of its original size, his eyes beneath the mask were intently fixed on him.

"Awake?"

"Yeah, I’m awake," said a dazed Zhou Ranjun, scratching his head.

"How are you feeling?"

"Hmm? What do you an, how do... this? My power..."

At first, Zhou Ranjun did not respond. But then, he felt an explosive power within him. He clenched his fist, his initial disbelief morphing into euphoria!

"I...I’ve beco an evolved being? Really? I’ve really beco an evolved being!"

"No, you are a New Human!"

Although Tang Ye knew that the terms "Evolved Being" and "New Human" referred to the sa thing, he was more accustod to using the term "New Human".

"Oh, a New Human."

Zhou Ranjun did not care about the terminology. What was occupying his thoughts was: "I’ve beco an evolved being!"

Tang Ye rely smiled, shaking his head at Zhou Ranjun’s excitent. He enjoyed watching a weakling being transford into a strong person.

As Zhou Ranjun was still rejoicing, Tang Ye tossed him two packets of ran. Seeing his puzzled look, Tang Ye said lightly, "Eat. Once you finish these, you will follow , doing what you want to do, and what I want to do."

Hurriedly grabbing the ran packets, Zhou Ranjun’s joy seed to double. He tore open the packets, revealing the ran and condints inside.

Ran! He hadn’t seen it for so long, not to ntion tasted it!

In the post-apocalyptic world, such a thing was a luxury!

Moreover, every ti soone consud sothing resembling food, it ant one less of its kind, as there were no businessn producing such things anymore like before the apocalypse.

Even though there was no hot water to soak the noodles in, for Zhou Ranjun, eating them dry was delicious enough!

Picking up the ran, Zhou Ranjun bit into it. But before his mouth could touch it, he seed to rember sothing and paused, looking at Tang Ye.

"You..."

"You’d better not be too curious. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. I gave you the opportunity to be superior. Your price is to serve ! I have only one requirent, you must obey !"

Tang Ye cut Zhou Ranjun off without a care, knowing his intention. Zhou Ranjun was but a pawn to him, and he had no desire to explain anything to a pawn.

Zhou Ranjun was taken aback for a mont before accepting the reality.

"Yes, there is no free lunch in this world. Since he gave this opportunity, I should not question what he wants to do."

Zhou Ranjun took it lightly. He was very curious about what Tang Ye was planning to do. Was he just planning to be the boss around here?

Alright, but at least there should be so transition, right? Wasn’t this a bit too direct?

But on second thought, the apocalypse was nothing like the tis of turmoil or prosperity. There was no rule of "courtesy first, soldiers later".

Human rights were no longer in the equation during the apocalypse, so what use were rules and regulations?

To the survivors, it did not matter who the ruler was. They were concerned about who could provide them with sustenance. Of course, this question would probably remain unanswered.

If Tang Ye wanted to beco the boss, all he had to do was annihilate the higher-ups here.

But Zhou Ranjun was sowhat fearful of having to face this with Tang Ye. Even though he had beco a New Human, he was still a Level 1 New Human, and there were seven or eight of Zhang Han’s group mbers who were higher level New Humans!

How could he fight them?

Even though he was a bit scared, as he looked at Tang Ye, his fears dissipated.

For so reason, Zhou Ranjun always sensed an extrely evil aura from Tang Ye, much like the massive villains in movies that make the audience worry about whether the protagonist could win against them.

This mysterious aura added an invincible will to Tang Ye!

After a lot of thoughts, Zhou Ranjun finally focused on the two packets of ran. He licked his lips, opened his mouth and bit down hard.

Crunch!

The crisp sound of the ran being crushed echoed. After his first bite, Zhou Ranjun did not stop. With the tenacity of a starving ghost, he finished the two packets of ran.

In the end, Tang Ye watched him rip open the condint packets and squeeze everything into his mouth, savoring it with gusto.

"Once you’ve eaten and drunk your fill... Heh heh, it’s ti to go. It’s ti to reclaim what should be yours," said Tang Ye.

"Yes, you’re right."

Zhou Ranjun and Tang Ye stepped outside. Looking at the survivors gradually erging, Zhou Ranjun felt a sense of superiority well up within him. This feeling was born from the strength he felt over the weak!

Maybe after today, their lives... might be at his rcy!

It cannot be denied that power can indeed lead people astray.
