The woman looked at Tang Ye in astonishnt, then at the contents on the screen. After confirming she hadn’t seen wrong, her expression gradually turned to shock.

Hearing the involuntary sound the woman made, Tang Ye also let out a "hmm" and finally opened his eyes.

"Finally calling back now... give it to ."

He reached his hand out to the woman, but she was still in shock and didn’t react until Ah Fu shook her shoulder, causing her to snap back to reality.

"Huh? Oh! Yes, sir."

The phone seed like a hot potato in her hands. She hastily handed it to Tang Ye, almost dropping it into the pool.

Tang Ye didn’t mind; Su Sigui was practically deified here at the Cloud Gorge Base, so it wasn’t surprising these people had such reactions. After steadily taking the phone, he glanced at Ah Fu, who understood imdiately and motioned to the woman to leave quickly.

The woman wasn’t dumb. Seeing Ah Fu’s obvious actions, she knew this was sothing she shouldn’t be involved in. She tidied her clothes and quickly jogged away.

Tang Ye quickly dialed Su Sigui’s number, and before the phone rang a few tis, it was picked up.

"Hello."

"Why did you just call back now?"

"Oh, sorry, I didn’t have my phone with yesterday. I saw your missed call around three in the morning and didn’t want to disturb you, so I texted you instead. Didn’t you see it?"

Su Sigui’s voice ca from the other end of the line, seemingly from a place where the wind was strong, creating a harsh whirring sound. Even over the phone, Tang Ye could sense the dry and hot atmosphere she was in.

"I don’t have a habit of checking text ssages." As he said this, Tang Ye pulled up the ssage tab, and indeed there was a text from Su Sigui at 3:20 a.m.

The content read: [What’s up? If you’re not asleep and see this ssage, you can call now.]

"Alright, did sothing happen over there?" Su Sigui asked.

"Indeed, sothing did happen. You’d better co over soon to handle it."

"What happened?" Su Sigui’s tone on the other end turned serious.

Tang Ye paused for a mont, then quickly said, "Yesterday, my people encountered a Level 8 zombie, and it got away."

"And then? It can’t be that simple, right?"

"Indeed, when my people were chasing that Level 8 zombie, they encountered a Water Guanyin zombie horde moving west along the Yangtze River."

Su Sigui on the other side was silent for a while, and after about ten seconds, her voice ca through.

"The Northernmost Zombie King has already led the zombie horde into China."

"Hard to say, but it seems more like the vanguard of the zombie horde. You know, the Water Guanyin zombies are enormous; even the Yangtze River can’t accommodate many of them." After saying this, Su Sigui was silent again. After more than ten seconds, she asked Tang Ye in a peculiar tone, "There’s sothing else you haven’t told , right?"

"Hahaha~" Tang Ye laughed but didn’t keep her in suspense and quickly said, "When my people found that Level 8 zombie, they also saw a few Level 7 zombies."

"So what? What’s strange about those zombies?"

"There’s nothing particularly strange, except they were wearing construction uniforms..."

"Construction uniforms..."

"You should understand what I an, right? I’ve heard you’re building a large sanctuary recently, and it’s possible that not just humans are involved, but quite a few zombies too. You’d better co and handle it, or when it’s finished, the sanctuary could beco the Zombie King’s feast."

After saying this, Tang Ye didn’t know what Su Sigui was thinking, but he heard her let out a long sigh, a clear sound, and, for so reason, Tang Ye felt particularly strange. Her every breath felt deliberate, fitting the impression she gave him.

Tang Ye had gotten used to it, but this "used to it" also made him feel sothing was off in hindsight.

"I’m not at Cloud Gorge Base right now. I’ll deal with it as soon as I get back. Thank you."

"You’re not at Cloud Gorge Base?" Tang Ye was taken aback. He had thought Su Sigui was in so underground lab doing sothing, but the wind sound from her side was actually from so machinery operating.

Seemingly... not the case?

"Yes."

"Where are you then?"

"That’s classified." The other party’s tone carried a hint of slyness.

"This..." Tang Ye furrowed his brow. For so reason, hearing her say it was classified made him feel a sense of foreboding, so he hastily asked, "You’re not developing so weapon, are you? Against ?"

"Why would I target you?" Su Sigui sounded puzzled, while on this side, Tang Ye rubbed his face hard.

Almost gave himself away!

In suspecting Su Sigui was developing a weapon, Tang Ye had subconsciously thought she was targeting the local Zombie King, which was himself! He almost spilled the beans. Who knows if Su Sigui had any suspicions? But he couldn’t ask further; asking more would give him away, wouldn’t it?

"Nothing, I just fear you’ll find trouble with after the war ends."

"You..." Tang Ye could imagine Su Sigui’s expression just from these two words, probably quite speechless...

"I am indeed developing a new kind of weapon. But don’t worry, I won’t target you with it. I can guarantee it won’t harm you, not even our local Zombie King would be hard by it."

"So what is it, then? What kind of weapon?"

"Classified, I’ll tell you when the ti cos." Su Sigui didn’t ntion a word about the new weapon, and no matter how curious Tang Ye was, he could only guess.

From her words, the new weapon didn’t seem to cause physical harm, as humanity’s biggest enemy now was the four Great Zombie Kings aiming to invade China. Among these, physical attacks could affect most; great strength would suffice!

Except for that one they call the energy life form, Kamutos.

"To deal with Kamutos?..." Tang Ye mused silently, shaking his head. That thing was the most bizarre among all Zombie Kings. He couldn’t think of a way Su Sigui would deal with this Zombie King.

Her experience was much richer than his.

He would leave it to her.

"Okay then, when will you co back?"

"Not anyti soon."

"Aren’t you going to manage your yet-to-be-born sanctuary?"

"Emmm..."

Su Sigui suddenly went silent, and after waiting a few seconds, Tang Ye realized it. She was going to leave it to him to manage!

"You don’t an for to handle it, do you?"

"If you’re willing and have the ti... it could be done."

Hearing this, Tang Ye licked his lips, a smile spreading across his face, and asked in an extrely eerie tone.

"What’s in it for ?"

"What do you want in return?"

...

The other party retorted in the sa tone, causing the expression on Tang Ye’s face to freeze, unable to say another word.

It seed... there really wasn’t anything he could ask for in return?

Couldn’t possibly ask for what’s left of that fleeting spring night back, right?

This little expectation was quite peculiar, wasn’t it?
