"Everyone, here, I won’t waste my breath, nor am I in the mood to do so. You all know what we’re about to face, right? Unfortunately, we’ve beco the first ’lucky ones’. In this land of ours, we’re the first to encounter the Zombie King, and here, I don’t need to explain what the Zombie King ans to us."
"As for the Zombie King, I can only describe it with the word ’horror’. Everyone at this place right now, you all should know your upcoming fate, which is nearly a hundred percent death. To say none of you are scared of dying, I don’t believe that!"
Four-Eyed One’s voice suddenly amplified, scanning over the soldiers on the wall. But as soon as his voice dropped, several soldiers started shouting: "I am!"
"And !"
"I am!"
"I’m not afraid of death!"
The soldiers imdiately got noisy, but after a brief pause, they heard Four-Eyed One shouting loudly.
"Bullsh*t!"
This sentence made everyone burst into laughter, easing the atmosphere a bit.
"Alright, let’s stop ssing around. Everything I’ve said is serious. I believe so of you truly aren’t afraid of death, but it doesn’t an everyone. The reason I’m saying this right now is to offer so opportunities, to those afraid of death. This is no joke, because once the battle begins, none of you here will survive!"
"Life is precious, yet cheap, but to yourselves, your life is priceless! I don’t want you to give up your precious lives so easily. So, I’m giving you a chance, a chance to leave here, before the battle starts. You have ti to regret and make a decision again. This is the last rcy given to you by and this land."
"Brothers below, open the gate!"
The recently lifted spirits gradually faded away. Following Four-Eyed One’s voice, everyone fell silent. Below, as the Anti-Zombie Wall Gate opened, the rumbling of machines echoed in their ears.
Four-Eyed One stood on the rooftop, overlooking the people on the Anti-Zombie Wall. After finishing his last sentence, he paused, giving the soldiers below a chance to decide. Unfortunately, no one stepped forward to leave.
In the crowd, so were deep in thought, so hesitated, and so had flickering eyes as if considering the consequences of truly leaving.
After so ti, seeing no one making a choice, Four-Eyed One picked up the gaphone again, putting it to his mouth and said, "Everyone, hurry up. If you’re afraid of dying, leave, nobody will laugh at you. Wanting to live is not wrong!"
"If you go against your decision because of certain reasons, then I’m sorry, once the battle starts, there’s no turning back. This is the last chance to save your own life. After this chance, there won’t be another. Think carefully, I’ll give you inside two minutes. Those wanting to leave, go down the stairs, the door is open, you can leave here!"
Four-Eyed One’s voice finally urged so people. At first, three people nervously stepped out from the crowd, cautiously looking at Four-Eyed One. Seeing nothing bad happening, Four-Eyed One waved his hand and said, "Go on!"
The three exchanged glances, then frantically began stripping off their exoskeletal suits. Unexpectedly, Four-Eyed One shouted, "Don’t bother taking them off, they’re a gift for you, go quickly!"
The three were stunned for a mont, not reacting imdiately, but then hurriedly nodded and jogged toward the stairs. Thousands of eyes focused on them, watching every move, observing them descend the stairs, walk out the gate, and as they walked further, they gradually relaxed and began to run.
After the three left, Four-Eyed One scanned the crowd again, saying, "Anyone else? I don’t believe it’s only this few!"
The figures of the three were completely obscured by distant weeds and dust, disappearing from sight, and the next second, the crowd beca restless. The safe departure of the three dispelled so people’s worries.
Accompanied by Four-Eyed One’s voice, more people stepped forward, but this ti, as many as hundreds ca out.
Ghost Head snorted as he saw several of those who previously claid not to fear death among those stepping out; it was sowhat ironic.
Previously, no one dared to leave, afraid they’d be attacked unguarded once they stepped out, and die regretting. This kind of thing had happened before, killing soone before the Apocalypse was like slaughtering a chicken.
As for this ti, that Four-Eyed One seed genuinely willing to give everyone a chance to save themselves. After all, once the battle started, surviving here was as hard as climbing to the highest heavens!
Four-Eyed One’s gaze briefly rested on the hundred people before moving away. He picked up the gaphone and shouted, "Go on, leave as quickly as possible!"
The hundreds of soldiers opting to leave dared not speak or look at others, not knowing how others perceived them, nor wanting to know. As Four-Eyed One finished speaking, they swiftly ran towards the stairs, heading to the ground, running towards the gate, and like the previous three, their figures gradually disappeared from others’ sight.
"Anyone else?"
Four-Eyed One asked again, but this ti, no one stepped out. After waiting two more minutes, still no one stepped out, and he seed to smile slightly, though people couldn’t see it clearly due to the distance.
"No more?"
It was now silent, with no one stepping forward nor making a sound.
"It seems you all are ready to face death now. Of course, I’m not just giving those afraid of death a chance. Repeating what I’ve said before, we’re facing the Zombie King, fighting here is choosing death, but we’re not only here for death. If we were standing here just for death, it would be aningless!"
"I want to tell you, the reason we’re standing here to face the upcoming battle, to face death, is for a chance!"
Four-Eyed One’s voice suddenly grew passionate, making all the soldiers shiver involuntarily.
"What we’re really here to do is show the world an attitude. Even with slim hope, we will strive for it, never giving up! Tell the world, even if things are dire, nothing is absolute! There will always be a ti when we, humans, triumph!"
"I know the cost you’re about to pay, so we overlook your actions, letting you relax in this final mont. But in such a short ti, can you guess what I saw in you?"
