Tang Ye, with confusion in his embrace, looked back. Atop the distant mountains was a massive blue curtain!

"That is..."

He squinted his eyes, sowhat puzzled as to what it was, but as mories in his mind flickered by, he imdiately realized, it was a tsunami, an extrely exaggerated tsunami!

In such a situation, Tang Ye didn’t take it seriously. Although the tsunami was overblown, it wouldn’t pose a threat to him. At worst, he would end up soaked. However, Lu Xiaojie, guessing his thoughts, coldly said, "Are you being too naive?"

As her voice fell, she strenuously stood up from the ground, and gave Tang Ye a fierce pat on the back of his neck. Confused, he turned his head to look at her and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Take a closer look, will you?"

"What else is there to see?"

Muttering, Tang Ye shifted his gaze back to the massive tsunami. But this ti, the blue curtain of seawater changed its color—previously it was the color of the sea, now, the tsunami bore the color of human skin!

Upon a closer look, what was that if not a tsunami? It was a multitude of naked bodies! They were all hairless, numbering in the billions! They opened their mouths—n and won, young and old—hands and feet, and their intertwined bodies, they ford a massive tsunami, rolling towards Xi River city!

The air beca thick, filled with an indescribable stench, like a jar of sauerkraut that wasn’t pickled correctly, giving off a sourness intertwined with rot!

"This is..."

"Stop looking, let’s go!"

This scene was incredibly shocking, as the flesh color signified that the people forming the tsunami were all normal, but their expressions were as rigid and lifeless as those sculpted by an artist!

Lu Xiaojie, seeing Tang Ye transfixed on the approaching human "tsunami," couldn’t help but urge him aloud!

Snapping out of it, Tang Ye sized up Lu Xiaojie and asked, "Need my help?"

"No need! Follow !"

Lu Xiaojie rejected Tang Ye’s offer and started running towards Xi River city. Seeing her limping movent, Tang Ye said nothing, as her choice not to seek his help must have had its reasons!

"We must go fast!"

"But how fast can you run?"

"Don’t worry about ."

Lu Xiaojie shook her head, took a deep breath, and sped on ahead, while Tang Ye, full of skepticism, closely followed. He noticed her face completely devoid of color, as pale as paper, which gave an eerily unsettling feeling, and even her hands were trembling slightly as she spoke.

The two of them began rushing toward Xi River city. Initially, Tang Ye slowed down, fearing she couldn’t keep up, but gradually, he realized that Lu Xiaojie was always ahead, maintaining the sa distance, never changing!

The human tsunami surged wave upon wave from behind, with a speed not to be underestimated. Thanks to their efforts, Tang Ye and Lu Xiaojie soon entered the downtown area of Xi River city. The streets were deserted, shops’ doors flung wide open, and vehicles abandoned chaotically on the road as if the people here vanished in an instant. Tang Ye glanced back at the human wave towering at about two hundred ters high. Those people might just be amongst it.

It was just too disgusting!

"Where are we headed?"

"To the recycling station?"

"That place again?"

"Yeah."

"I sort of don’t understand what’s going on."

"You’ve caused a big ss!"

"I don’t think so. Did I do sothing wrong?"

"Get rid of your damn questions. You did sothing wrong, though not completely."

"How did you appear?"

"I should be thanking you. If it weren’t for you making Dairya rember so unpleasant things, I might not have shown up so soon. How should I put this... you... no, you as a zombie, are quite unexpected."

"And... if it had been soone else, how would they have behaved?"

"Have you ever understood human society before the Apocalypse? So human relations and social etiquette, you should know this idiom with your intelligence, right?"

"I understand more than you think, and I’ve even experienced it."

"This..."

Lu Xiaojie was taken aback by Tang Ye’s words, perceiving sothing from them, and then said sarcastically, "I wonder if all those outside are zombies in disguise..."

"There might be so, but very few."

Tang Ye replied casually, observing Lu Xiaojie, who was in a rather odd state. From the tone of her explanation, she seed to be feigning nonchalance, and she had to catch her breath with every word she spoke.

"Dairya is a child lacking affection, replace her with others... put soone else in there, and they would act towards her like employees do to their bosses... flattering... you know? Just like that... you should be able to feel it inside."

"So it’s that simple..."

After pondering for a while, Tang Ye recalled the ti when he visited Dairya’s house for the third ti. As soon as Dairya ca out, the Bick couple instantly beca enthusiastic... It indeed seed to be the case, but in the end...

"I think you owe an explanation. Why should I run from that big group behind us?"

"If you don’t want to beco one of them, you can stop anyti. I... need to tell you... you are in danger now. Dairya will do anything to kill you! Once you are ’reborn’!" Lu Xiaojie heavily emphasized the word "reborn," clearly not aning its literal sense: "After we lost contact, the chance of you finding is next to nothing!"

"Also... can I ask you sothing? What happened after you went to that room that day, do you rember?"

"What?" Tang Ye was montarily puzzled, thought carefully, and seed to recall having a fight with sothing and then going back to the hotel.

Tang Ye shared his recollections and saw Lu Xiaojie shake her head slightly, seemingly speechless.

In no ti, the two arrived at the recycling station. Lu Xiaojie’s movent speed was already unnatural for a regular person. At this mont, the aura she exuded gave Tang Ye a very strange sensation. She was ordinary, yet not at all ordinary—a feeling difficult to describe, like a Level 9 zombie being killed by an ordinary person with a handgun, purely absurd.

Just like in the downtown area of Xi River city, there was no one in the recycling station. Lu Xiaojie led Tang Ye without any hindrance, and soon, they went down the spiral staircase. At the sa ti, she pulled a black feather from her pocket—Tang Ye could see clearly, it was a crow feather!

She held the feather in her hand, extended her other hand towards Tang Ye, and called out, "Hold on to !"
