"Alright buddy, I need to hurry ho now, not gonna stick around with you any longer, bye."
"Uh, goodbye."
Hearing what the young man said, Tang Ye nodded. His initial intent was rely to find out what ti it currently was, and the fact that the young man believed he wasn’t a transmigrator was the desired outco for Tang Ye as well. He had no need to keep the other around.
The young man also nodded, quickening his pace ahead. However, there was sothing oddly unsettling about his retreating figure to Tang Ye. It seed like he wasn’t rushing due to an urgent matter but rather escaping? He wasn’t certain about it; maybe the young man just had a long distance to travel.
Before long, the young man who had walked a short distance turned back and said sothing peculiar to Tang Ye, "Hey buddy, real or not, no matter how tough you are, there’s a saying that goes, ’Before you can fend for yourself, you need to keep a low profile.’ I’m warning you, find a place to stay before it gets dark. There are notices about this all over the place, you can easily find one."
After saying that, the young man ran off without turning his head back, leaving Tang Ye to ponder over the aning behind his words.
"Before it gets dark? What happens after dark?" He subconsciously thought of the Night Demon zombies, which lurked within buildings during daylight, showing severe aversion to light and only appearing at night. Moreover, they were commonly known for being powerful fighters during the dark.
After considering the Night Demon zombies, Tang Ye finally recognized sothing abnormal about Xi River city—the excessive number of hotels! Not just outside the primary school, even the ground where he stood was populated with a hotel every few steps, barely any other shops in sight.
Moreover, even on his way from nearby Lixi County to Xi River city, he had noticed many hotels!
It wasn’t because of a booming tourism industry or any other reason that the hospitality business thrived in Xi River city; it was because people desperately needed accommodations, seemingly because sothing happens at night that requires a secure place to ensure their safety!
He turned on his phone, which displayed the ti as the twelfth year of the Black Rain Era, March 19th, 2:26 PM.
This sequence of ti was only correct in the last few digits. He promptly set the phone to the current ti to avoid having to repeatedly ask others.
What could possibly happen after dark? Tang Ye didn’t know, but he was curious. The young man also ntioned that there were many notices around—what kind of notices?
The words of the young man only confird Tang Ye’s belief that this world was a façade! If sothing perilous erged after dark, setting aside all else—whether disasters, monsters, or oddities—people who could walk around during the day wouldn’t be going about their lives as usual, as those before the Apocalypse. Would there be ti to send children to school?
Nor would jocular individuals like the young man he had just encountered appear.
This world had too many inconsistencies with reality, resembling a universe imagined by a child’s mind. More intriguingly, this falsified world was the creation of a zombified mind, and he was existing within it. Such ability made Tang Ye enviously covetous.
It was far superior to his third-rate illusions!
Glancing at the sun, there still seed to be so ti before nightfall, and he wasn’t going to just wait idly to discover what nightfall brought in this world. He needed to start hunting for so bugs in this world!
Recreating an image of Xi River city during the Apocalypse in his mind, he rembered there was a zoo southwest of Caiheng Primary School. Because of the trendous changes the Apocalypse brought, by the ti he reached there, it had beco sothing akin to a "prival forest," where nurous zombified animals road.
Thinking of this, Tang Ye glanced in that direction. In the next second, his whole body vanished, leaving the people nearby only sensing a blur. As they looked towards where Tang Ye had been and then around them, they muttered in confusion, "What just happened?"
Xi River City Zoo was relatively empty today, being Thursday, and perhaps because of the overcast skies – even though it was not yet three o’clock, visitors were already trickling out. At the zoo exit, nurous security checkpoints had been set up, and every visitor had to pass through them; the atmosphere there was tenser than border control.
In the midst of this, a couple who had yet to clear the checkpoint suddenly heard a staff mber’s voice call out to them.
"Hey, wait a mont."
The male half of the couple turned around, his body stiffening slightly. Nothing showed on his face, but a flicker of panic crossed his eyes. The girl beside him grew tense as well, instinctively clutching at her boyfriend’s sleeve.
"What... what’s going on?"
"Open your backpack." The staff mber who had stopped them was far from courteous, his face taut as he barked out the command! He seed as if he belonged to so high-security division.
"Why should I?" The young man clearly didn’t want to comply and imdiately protested.
But the staff mber didn’t waste words on him, waving a hand and calling to others, he shouted: "Search them!"
As soon as these three words were uttered, the color drained from the couple’s faces, and they yelled: "It’s illegal to search soone without consent!"
"You think I don’t know you’re hiding sothing? Hand it over now!"
"I haven’t hidden anything! There’s nothing in the bag!"
"Better if there’s nothing. Just open it and let us see. If it’s empty, we will compensate you legally."
"No! Get away from !"
Before long, the young man suspected of theft was pinned to the ground by several burly n, who then stripped the backpack off him. Just as they were about to unzip it to reveal the contents, the girl by his side hurried over to intervene. Whatever was in the backpack seed vitally important by the look on her face, but how could she, a lone girl, fend off several large n? It wasn’t long before she too was pinned down, left with no choice but to desperately call out to the other tourists: "Help, they’re assaulting !" and the like, but no one stepped forward to aid the couple.
Soon, the backpack was unzipped by the n, revealing its contents.
"So that’s all..." Tang Ye, observing from a corner, lost interest upon seeing the contents. He had first thought the couple might have stolen sothing significant, only to find it was rely an avian creature.
It was an entirely black bird. Initially, Tang Ye didn’t recognize it, as he seed never to have seen such a bird before, only feeling it looked sowhat familiar. However, it quickly dawned on him – this was a crow!
PS: When writing up to Chapter thirty, I hit a writer’s block, and for the life of couldn’t continue. This feeling is really awful, especially as I had it all planned out in my mind, but everything falls apart when I try to write it down, like I just can’t find the right words to describe it. What a headache.
I apologize to my readers, the author is begging for a day’s leave to rethink how to proceed with the story. I’m so sorry, I’m begging for your forgiveness!!
Should inspiration suddenly strike, please ignore the above ssage from the author and expect the usual updates. Thank you (*°∀°)=3
