He had a strong urge to go back inside, but he controlled himself. He now had more important matters to attend to — he needed to quickly notify the higher-ups to transfer that woman into that mysterious place!

After the man in the work clothes left, another woman ca in. She released the woman from her restraints, allowing her free movent within the room, but that was limited to the room only. For the following four or five days, she remained in the room, with her als brought to her daily by the sa woman.

This so-called Second Headquarters seed unusually deserted during normal tis. Inside the entire yard, Gong Xiao knew she was left with only the woman who brought her als each day.

Perhaps the Second Headquarters was really not frequented by people normally, or it could be that the mbers of the Du Jin Society had been ordered not to co here.

But in fact, things weren’t that simple. Although only Gong Xiao and the al-bringing woman were in the courtyard, outside, Gong Xiao could clearly sense at least ten Level 6 New Humans and one Level 7 New Human. They loitered around the vicinity 24/7. They must be powerful individuals from the forces behind the Du Jin Society, tasked with watching over this place to prevent any suspicious individuals from getting close and to prevent Gong Xiao herself from suddenly running off.

But where could Gong Xiao escape to?

She was patiently waiting here, and after nearly five days, around two or three in the early morning, a group of mysterious people suddenly appeared around the courtyard. They weren’t mbers of the Du Jin Society, nor did they belong to any faction Tang Ye was aware of. Upon arriving at the entrance of the yard, they went straight through the gate and, led by the al-bringing woman, ca to the door of the room where Gong Xiao was staying. They didn’t enter, or perhaps they didn’t dare to enter.

They watched the woman enter Gong Xiao’s room, and then the pretending-to-be-asleep Gong Xiao was awakened.

"Put this on, and these clothes."

The woman handed Gong Xiao a set of black clothes and a silver-black mask. Gong Xiao nodded, obediently taking off her original clothes, revealing her delicate figure. Even for the al-bringing woman, who was female, the sight was srizing, and she found herself inevitably entranced.

The outfit and the mask were the sa style as those worn by the outsiders; loose-fitting like a cloak, completely concealing the wearer’s original figure no matter who put it on.

After putting on the clothes, Gong Xiao was about to put on the mask handed to her by the woman, but the woman said, "Wait a mont." She then took out sothing resembling a bottle of perfu spray from her bag and sprayed it all over Gong Xiao’s clothes, and an indescribable scent imdiately filled the air.

It was not an unpleasant sll, but rather a fragrance, a unique scent no one had ever experienced, with no similar references to be found.

"It’s ready," the woman said and then carefully placed the mask on Gong Xiao, leading her outside.

Beforehand, the woman had slipped a hard object into Gong Xiao’s pocket and signaled with her eyes.

Gong Xiao felt it briefly and knew what it was — an HK pistol from before the Apocalypse, capable of holding thirteen bullets. There were thirteen people here dressed in the sa outfit besides herself; the implication was clear without needing to be spoken.

Gong Xiao looked around; apart from the al-bringing woman, who was a Level 5 New Human, all the people wearing the sa outfit were ordinary humans who couldn’t threaten her, even if she were a regular human. Moreover, among these people were not just n, but also won.

And she had a gun. Although such an old item was no longer used in the Apocalypse, it was more than enough to deal with regular humans.

The ten or so people outside all wore the sa masks and clothes, and even their heights were indistinguishable from one another. No one spoke, and after Gong Xiao joined them, they moved around chaotically. They began running in all directions in the dark night without making a sound, and the whole scene seed very bizarre.

Gong Xiao was stunned but quickly realized what was happening. It wasn’t about them; it was about her. They needed the effect where no one could tell who was who. Then she also started running around with the rest, weaving through them. After about five or six minutes, everyone regrouped, all eyes turning towards the woman.

"Go," the woman said.

Without completing their sentences, they followed the woman’s instructions and walked outside.

She followed these people towards a location, expecting perhaps to be taken to a research facility, but instead, they arrived in an inconspicuous alley lined with nurous motorcycles.

In the sa silent understanding, everyone got on the bikes, so taking the handlebars while others sat behind. Gong Xiao casually picked a motorcycle, which she knew how to ride. As soon as soone got on behind her, she started the engine without saying a word and sped off in a certain direction.

The motorcycles rushing through the streets woke the refugees sleeping by the roadside with their roaring engines, breaking the silence of the night with their din.

"Quite cautious," Gong Xiao thought to herself as she watched the motorcycle in front of her.

Before long, her group had arrived at their destination, not a research facility, but a motel. She entered with the others, and though calling it a motel was far-fetched, because it was makeshift with no service staff. After they went upstairs from the lobby, they found a large room filled with beds, over twenty of them.

Gong Xiao saw that after everyone selected a bed and lay down covering themselves with blankets, they just slept. Quickly understanding the intent, she chose a bed by the window, covered herself with the blanket like the others, and began to "sleep," though she didn’t really sleep. She periodically observed the scenery outside the window, staying alert to everything around her.

She had thought sothing would happen that night, yet nothing did. She stayed awake until morning, accustod to this routine from previous days.

Around seven o’clock, Gong Xiao sensed the presence of a Level 8 New Human. A smile crossed her face, but she made no movents. She felt the Level 8 New Human coming upstairs, seemingly also wielding a pre-Apocalypse gun.

Click-clack!

At the sa ti, she received a telepathic ssage from Tang Ye.

"The main target has arrived. Don’t make a move. Ah, this unlucky guy has quite a few followers."
