After eating the egg, Abeng endured the waxy dryness, wide-mouthed to an exaggerated extent, dumped the whole plate of stir-fried noodles into his mouth, and gulped it down like bitter dicine.

Because Sugiyama Ryoko said she would co for him later, Abeng didn’t leave right away. He placed the empty plate on the table and began to wait.

Before long, Sugiyama Ryoko opened the door of the private room, glanced at the clean plate, and chuckled. "Abeng, why don’t you co work here from now on?" she said. "That way, you won’t go hungry."

In his heart, Abeng was resistant; he didn’t want to keep eating human food. Still, he restrained himself, feigned a reluctant deanor, and said hesitantly, "There’s no need, Sister Liang Zi, I have things to do. After I’ve finished them, I’ll co to you..."

"Is that so..." Sugiyama Ryoko showed a tinge of regret in her eyes. However, she didn’t insist, exchanged a few more words, and then agreed to let Abeng leave.

Abeng left the restaurant, looked back, and lanted that there were still good people in Cloud Gorge Base. He then took out a photograph and approached a passing white man, asking in Chinese, "Hey, foreigner, have you seen this woman?"

The foreigner, called out of the blue and looking bewildered, thankfully had learned so Chinese to better communicate with the mixed populace of Cloud Gorge Base. He understood a few phrases and, seeing Abeng hand him a photograph, knew that this Chinese kid must be searching for the woman in the picture. He shook his head, mumbling "NO" a few tis, then left.

"Dammit!"

Abeng muttered discontentedly, watching the white man walk away and then directed the question at another foreign passerby.

"Have you seen the woman in this photograph?"

"..."

He asked several people in turn, but just like before, he couldn’t get the information he wanted.

Just as Abeng was about to give up, he suddenly saw a commotion break out ahead of him. The dense crowd, as if seeing sothing terrifying, quickly moved aside. Then, Abeng saw a group of Chinese, wielding laser weapons with a nacing deanor, walking through.

They scanned their surroundings as if searching for sothing, occasionally dragging one or two unlucky people out of the crowd and demanding roughly, "Have you seen a woman in a leather jacket pass by?"

"Ah... uh! Haven’t... haven’t seen..."

"@@¥%..."

The foreigners, only partially versed in Chinese, couldn’t say much before they were kicked away by those Chinese ard with laser weapons. Although they were in a disheveled state, the blood energy they exuded was startling, among them unmistakably a Level 7 New Human and several Level 6 New Humans.

With such a force, walking sideways across Wanhe Third District was no problem at all!

"Speak human language, dammit!"

One of them, growing impatient, slapped one of the questioned persons, sending them sprawling to the ground with a mouthful of fresh blood, unable to get up for a while.

Other bystanders dared not say anything, scattering to keep their distance, like avoiding the plague, watching the group leave.

As they passed by Abeng, one Level 6 New Human’s gaze t his. Seemingly annoyed by Abeng’s apparent fearlessness, the man snapped, "Little brat, what the hell are you looking at?"

Abeng looked away dismissively, which seed incredibly provocative in the eyes of the others. The Level 6 New Human who had spoken angrily moved toward him but was restrained by another person the next second.

"Don’t cause trouble, let’s go."

The group didn’t linger and quickly left the area. As the crowd reassembled, their figures also vanished from sight. Not long after, Abeng saw a woman in a black leather jacket jump down from the roof of a low building. Seeing the woman, Abeng imdiately rembered the person that the others were looking for, a woman in a leather jacket.

The woman landed, scanned the surroundings with her eyes, and eventually locked onto Abeng. She walked straight toward him.

"Kid, Sugiyama Ryoko didn’t leave, did she?"

"Ah?"

Abeng was taken aback for a mont but quickly realized that this woman had been watching him ever since Sugiyama Ryoko kindly invited him for a al.

"I don’t know."

The woman didn’t speak, her gaze fixed on Abeng as if trying to see through him. Abeng t her gaze calmly, unafraid of a Level 6 New Human.

So they stood, staring at each other in silence, neither uttering a word. After a while, when Abeng saw the woman turn to enter Sugiyama Ryoko’s Japanese restaurant, he quickly called out to her—he still had work to do.

"Hey, wait a second, sister, I’m looking for soone."

"Do you call everyone ’sister’?" The woman looked sowhat exasperated.

"Who are you looking for?" Abeng chuckled and pulled out a photo from his pocket, handing it over: "Here, this one."

The woman took the photo and looked at it for a while. Her expression changed subtly, and the smile on her face gradually faded. However, Abeng had heard so many endings already, he didn’t expect this woman, who knew Sugiyama Ryoko, to know Long Yingjia, and he didn’t look at her expression while waiting for the few hundred tis a day he’d hear "I don’t know" and "I don’t recognize."

However, this ti seed different. Abeng heard the woman ask, "What’s your relationship with her, and what do you want her for?"

"She... she’s my sister."

"Your real sister?"

"Yeah... yeah, yeah." Abeng nodded.

"Do you know her na?"

"Long Yingjia."

"Do you also have the surna Long?"

"This... I suppose so... Wait! Do you know her?"

Abeng’s eyes widened in an instant. In that mont, he felt as if he had found hope, but the next second, he saw the woman shake her head and say rcilessly, "I don’t know her."

"This... If you don’t know her, why ask all these questions?"

Abeng snatched the photo back, finding it all very dull, and began to walk away. But the woman behind him called out, "Little brother, wait, how can I contact you? If I find this Long Yingjia."

"Oh, then thank you... If you really find her, you can just shout to the sky that you’ve found Long Yingjia, and I might appear before you pretty quickly." Abeng spread his hands, not really placing any hope in this woman.

"Are you mocking ?"

"Find her first, then we can talk."

"Hmph, I’m not that bored but... since..."

The woman suddenly stopped talking midway, and Abeng turned around to see her figure turn into a black shadow and disappear into the night sky, slipping into the Building Group in the distance. At the sa ti, a large group of fully ard soldiers appeared from the other end of the street, wielding laser weapons.

"It’s the Security Army!"
