A loud noise erupted, and the already dilapidated ground suddenly cracked, spreading several fissures around it, while Xu Changchi stood beneath the iron claws of a zombie, half his body subrged into the ground.

"Zombie?"

"How can there be a zombie?"

Yan Jie and another Level 6 New Human exchanged glances, then said, "Ren Mingren, go help!"

"Yes!"

So, the two Level 6 New Humans charged forward, forcing the Level 6 zombie to retreat. Then, the three Level 6 New Humans launched an attack together. The lone Level 6 zombie couldn’t withstand their assault, and soon Yan Jie plunged his knife into its skull, removing the Evolution Crystal from its brain.

Ren Mingren checked the Level 6 zombie, then said to Yan Jie, "This isn’t a Silver Armored zombie."

"Not a Silver Armored one?" Yan Jie took a closer look and realized it wasn’t indeed a Silver Armored zombie, adding to his confusion.

"Could it be Brother Ah Fu and Xu Haishui?" But he quickly shook his head. Currently, no one knew their whereabouts, and if this Level 6 was under their control, it would have stopped upon seeing them.

"Who is it?"

Xu Changchi took a deep breath and said, "I almost fell at the hands of this thing."

"Old Xu, how co you’re here? You weren’t supposed to be..." Jiang Chentong caught a glimpse of him, his eyes flashing, unsure what he was thinking. Xu Changchi didn’t know him, but he knew Xu Changchi’s background because he had entered the scene later and knew the decisions Xu Changchi had made upon his arrival. Following his culture, Xu Changchi soon said, "I’ll explain it to you later. Let catch my breath first."

Xu Changchi waved his hand, his face flush with exertion, clearly exhausted. However, Yan Jie noticed that when Jiang Chentong spoke to him, a flash of panic crossed Xu Changchi’s eyes, and even Ren Mingren and Guan Xiuyang noticed.

However, they exchanged looks and didn’t rush to pry, while Jiang Chentong whispered sothing to Yan Jie. With his words, Yan Jie’s expression grew curious.

Xu Changchi walked over to Zhou Ranjun, patted his shoulder, and then sat down. He didn’t notice that upon his approach, Zhou Ranjun’s eyes lit up with resolve, determined to make Xu Changchi his first target!

"I’m sorry, Old Xu..." Zhou Ranjun silently apologized in his heart, planning to kill and take Xu Changchi hostage to escape, then use his corpse to et "the Queen’s" subordinate in exchange for his wife, and then flee far away. This was his plan.

With six Level 6 New Humans at the scene, including Xu Changchi, he couldn’t possibly defeat them all; he had no other choice.

After sitting down next to Zhou Ranjun, Xu Changchi began to regulate his breathing, restoring his body to peak condition, especially since the encounter with the Level 6 zombie had been quite taxing.

As he adjusted, Xu Changchi also took the opportunity to survey his surroundings. Although he struggled internally and hesitated, his hesitation prevented him from acting imdiately.

The streets here were crowded, with residents filling almost every corner. The Anti-Zombie Wall Gate upfront stood open, continually allowing people to leave the United District. Yet, despite this, there was no apparent decrease in the seemingly endless crowd in the distance, and periodic intense trembles from afar continuously sparked screams among the crowd.

The destructive power unleashed by the battle between two Level 8 Powerhouses had already riddled the entire United District with scars. Aside from this street, no other buildings remained intact enough for mobility, with none taller than twenty ters left standing. Now, as people retreated, buildings on both sides of this street lay in ruins. Originally, debris from collapsed buildings had blocked the road, but they had been moved aside by the strong mbers of the Peace Party, ensuring unobstructed passage.

Xu Changchi hesitated, quietly observing everything around him. He dared not look at the Peace Party soldiers maintaining order or Yan Jie and others, as each glance filled him with an unstoppable guilt — a feeling no one could understand, for he too was compelled by circumstances.

Yet, fate wouldn’t allow him a perfect solution, for whichever side he chose, he was dood to relinquish sothing.

However, compared to Xu Changchi, Zhou Ranjun beside him seed restless, but before Zhou Ranjun could make a move, Yan Jie suddenly approached Xu Changchi. Without a word, he drew his mutant decapitation knife, aiming the blade directly at Xu Changchi’s face!

"You..." Xu Changchi was stunned, not understanding what Yan Jie was doing.

However, Yan Jie only pointed his knife at Xu Changchi without actually striking.

"What do you want to do?"

Xu Changchi asked, looking at Yan Jie, but the panic in his eyes betrayed him.

Yan Jie’s face was expressionless. He just stared at Xu Changchi, his blood energy fluctuating, and the muscles on his arms twitching continuously.

It was clear that Yan Jie was ready to fight at any mont!

The look in Yan Jie’s eyes was even colder than the chill emanating from the blade in his hands.

"You’re not right!"

"How am I not right?"

"You were captured, you ca here, what about the others?"

"I..." Xu Changchi hesitated for a mont, but quickly organized an explanation in his mind.

"I was suddenly chased by that zombie, and I luckily escaped. The others are still in that monster’s hands."

"You’re still lying to !"

As soon as Xu Changchi finished speaking, Yan Jie roared and the blade moved a few centiters closer to Xu Changchi.

This scene was indeed a bit strange, and Zhou Ranjun beside them was montarily stunned.

What was going on?

But Zhou Ranjun was no fool, and he quickly began to reconsider Xu Changchi’s stance.

"No, Xu Changchi was also captured, but now he’s out? Why? That zombie... Could this guy have also betrayed?" Zhou Ranjun’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at Xu Changchi strangely, but quickly noticed that one of Xu Changchi’s hands was hidden behind his back, clenched into a fist, and his body was also slightly trembling. Zhou Ranjun knew that Xu Changchi was about to make a move!

"I didn’t lie to you!"

"You’re still lying!"

Yan Jie didn’t care what Xu Changchi said. He had already noticed sothing off about him from so subtle details on his body. Just like when he was unable to keep up with the Level 6 zombie earlier, he wasn’t injured, only pushed to his limits by prolonged intense activity. Even the Level 6 zombie wasn’t injured. As a Level 6 New Human, facing a zombie of the sa level, it shouldn’t be that neither party was injured. From this, Yan Jie was sure that Xu Changchi was up to sothing.

Moreover, Jiang Chentong had shared a secret with him, so he chose to confront him directly with his blade.
