"It’s over."
After watching Lin Jie take Li Qingtian away from the sight of all the soldiers, they were utterly desperate. This was the Marshal’s sister; her death would undeniably cause a great outrage from the Marshal, and many might even die as a result. Although nobody knew what the Marshal, having lost a loved one, would be like, in this apocalypse, no one harbored kind intentions.
However, among the soldiers, whose faces were ashen, a sergeant remained relatively calm. He furrowed his brows lightly as he watched the direction in which Lin Jie had jumped, seemingly deep in thought.
"Where is this guy taking Miss Li?"
"Who knows? Nobody knows him."
"We’re dood. Ma De, I don’t even know where this Level 7 New Human ca from. He’s just too monstrous!"
Soone looked around at the vastly destroyed environnt, and out of sheer despair, intense anger brewed! How quickly had the scene turned into this! Was this even human?
Upon further reflection, having such power in a person was already extrely abnormal. The power possessed by this Level 7 New Human was like a natural disaster. As long as such power exists, the strength-based worldview of human society could not be overturned. In a mont of despair, the soldiers also felt a wave of sadness. If not for heaven’s neglect, who would want to kneel at the very bottom layer?
If they possessed this nearly all-destroying power, they too would want to be rulers, to have whatever they desired at their fingertips, and to have any girl they liked by just ntioning her; there would be no inferiorities, no fears, just supre power.
The rights brought by personal strength could satisfy all inner desires, yet unfortunately, they were the ones living at the lowest social strata.
This was their sorrow, low in strength, only able to grovel at the feet of the stronger.
Just as the soldiers were panicked and at a loss, the sergeant shouted, "Everyone, don’t panic. First, notify the other units and report what happened here truthfully."
A few soldiers nodded and quickly left, while the defense line expanded again at this mont. Suddenly, the sergeant saw the sanctuary soldier who had fled before. His eyes squinted as a mory flashed through his mind—Lin Jie patting this person on the shoulder from behind.
"Did he talk to that person?" The sergeant’s lips curled into a smile as he gestured toward the soldier, saying, "See that person over there?"
The surrounding soldiers, after hearing his words, looked puzzled for a mont and then turned their heads in the direction he was pointing. Indeed, there was soone hiding suspiciously behind a wall, seemingly on guard or fearful of soone, checking if that person was present at the scene.
"What’s wrong?" a soldier asked, noticing that aside from being quite pale, the man seed to have nothing unusual about him.
The sergeant said in a grave voice, "That person had a conversation with the one who took Miss Li. Drag him over here!"
This statent from the sergeant brought hope to the eyes of the surrounding soldiers. If this were true, then there would be a clue about the whereabouts of the person who kidnapped Li Qingtian. With a clue, they could redy the situation.
At that mont, everyone’s excitent surged as they focused their gaze in the direction the sergeant was pointing. The person there quickly noticed the soldiers’ stares, hesitated, and then withdrew his head.
But soon, several soldiers moved forward, raising their weapons. Their muzzles pointed directly at the man as they shouted, "Co out!"
"Ah!" The person shuddered, confused by what was happening, and could only cry out in alarm.
"Co out!" Another loud shout rang out as one of the Peace Party soldiers fired his gun. The scorching laser blasted the wall, startling the people behind it. One of them quickly poked his head out with hands raised, "Gentlen, please, no rush. I’m coming out right now. Please don’t kill !"
He hurriedly walked out but before he could say much, two soldiers grabbed him by the collar and dragged him towards the direction of the sergeant.
He didn’t know why the Peace Party soldiers were treating him this way, but his instincts told him it certainly wasn’t anything good. As they grabbed his collar, he started to resist.
"Damn it, keep still," one soldier snapped.
As he twisted his body, another soldier harshly jabbed him in the stomach with the butt of a gun. The force churned his stomach, causing severe spasms in the surrounding flesh.
"Ah! It hurts!"
The soldiers pushed him along until they reached the sergeant and threw him on the ground.
"Stay put here. Whatever he asks you, you answer. Otherwise, prepare to die," a Level 7 New Human soldier said nacingly. Given their numbers, he could only nod. The soldier then bent down, trying to soften his tone, and asked, "The person who was talking to you earlier, you know him, right?"
The sergeant’s question made him lift his head and reply, "Who... Who are you talking about? There were many people talking to ; how could I possibly know all of them?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the sergeant stood up, looked up at the sky without showing any emotion, but the next second, he fiercely kicked him in the back. The pain swiftly spread throughout his body, making him grimace in agony.
"Damn it, don’t play dumb with ! Who was that person! Believe it or not, I’ll blow your head off if you keep playing tricks on ," he said, grabbing a weapon from another soldier and aiming it at his head, his words filled with threats.
Looking at the sharp tip of the trigger, the cold texture sent a chill through his spine.
"I... I... Sorry... That person... I really don’t know, please don’t kill , I really have no idea."
His hands continuously slapped the ground as he stared at the muzzle of the laser weapon, with panic almost spilling from his eyes.
The sergeant looked at him askance, shook his head, and said, "Since you don’t know, then let’s just kill you."
The cold, emotionless words struck a chord of fear in the sanctuary soldier. He watched as the sergeant walked away, then the surrounding soldiers closed in, their intent to kill unmistakably clear. The laser at the gun’s muzzle was ready to fire!
The air seed to thicken, and under such pressure, he couldn’t stand it any longer. He was terrified, fearing that in the next few seconds these soldiers would shoot him. He couldn’t die; his wife and children at the sanctuary were waiting for him!
If he died, how would his loved ones survive? With this thought, he couldn’t hold back any longer and blurted out, "I know, I know! Please don’t kill , I’ll talk!"
"Oh, really? Speak then."
"That man is Lin Jie. He has captured your Peace Party’s most important person. From the direction he left, he should be heading towards our sanctuary..."
