Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Extract Obtained
Su Ze backed away, his eyes still glued to the Mutated Giant Crocodile’s massive maw, unwilling to give up.
He clung to a final sliver of hope.
’That’s Mr. Ya, a guy rumored to be hard to kill even for a Saint-level Overlord!’
’Then again, it’s just a rumor. It’s not like Mr. Ya has ever actually been hunted by a Saint-level Overlord.’
Various thoughts flashed through Su Ze’s mind. He retreated another ten-plus ters when suddenly, like building blocks snapping into place, countless particles assembled before him into a person—it was Mr. Ya!
Su Ze was both shocked and overjoyed. He glanced in disbelief at the Mutated Giant Crocodile’s tightly shut snout. He had personally watched Mr. Ya get swallowed. It had only been a few seconds. How did he escape from the crocodile’s mouth?
"Let’s go, now!"
Mr. Ya’s face was pale. He grabbed Su Ze and used Earth Escape to travel a kiloter away, then collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud.
At that mont, the distant Mutated Giant Crocodile burst from the ground, roaring madly. It seed to be in extre agony, thrashing even more violently than when it had swallowed the poison earlier.
"What’s going on?"
Su Ze was a little confused.
Mr. Ya said weakly, "I spread poison inside its stomach."
Su Ze’s eyes widened. "You actually went inside it?"
"Bro, what are you implying?" Mr. Ya said, feigning hurt. "Not all of us people from Luofan have a thing for reptiles, you know."
"I was swallowed! I just figured, since I was already inside, I might as well leave a little sothing behind before I go."
Su Ze took a deep breath. Mr. Ya hadn’t explained in detail how he got out of the giant crocodile’s stomach, but he had definitely used a skill.
’So kind of ridiculously overpowered escape skill.’
’Was it the Instant Teleportation Skill?’
Su Ze recalled how Mr. Ya had appeared as if assembled from countless tiny particles. That didn’t seem like the Instant Teleportation Skill.
But whatever the skill was, Su Ze felt its quality might have already surpassed S-rank.
So he didn’t ask any more questions.
Many people had secrets. Just like his own Evolution Divine Grace Skill, which he didn’t want anyone to know about.
’It’s best to leave so things unsaid.’
Su Ze was now starting to truly believe that Mr. Ya could survive an encounter with a Saint-level Overlord.
This guy was full of surprises.
He was definitely a talent, a special one at that. Luofan Academy had truly missed out on a thoroughbred by not letting him graduate—and a damn fast one, too.
Su Ze felt the urge to be his talent scout.
But he himself was still in a precarious situation. He had to rescue Liou Wenxin and Mrs. Yun first.
...
Su Ze and Mr. Ya rested quietly for twenty minutes.
Finally, the Mutated Giant Crocodile stopped moving completely.
The two of them cautiously approached, probing it repeatedly until they finally confird the massive beast had breathed its last.
Smiles appeared on both their faces.
It was ti to reap the rewards!
Su Ze took out a portable extractor he had prepared and plunged it into the giant crocodile’s abdon.
In a short while, a vial of extract, shimring with an orange evolutionary light, was ready.
Su Ze had never seen an extract with such an intense evolutionary light, a testant to its high quality.
"I’ll take this vial of extract. I’ll transfer the money to you later," Su Ze said.
"No problem. A fine sword belongs to a hero. This top-tier extract is perfect for a genius like you, Bro!" Mr. Ya chuckled.
He had known for a while that Su Ze wanted the Mutated Giant Crocodile’s extract. A Tier 2 extract was useless to him; he would just sell it for cash anyway, so he was happy to let Su Ze have it.
He also believed that, given Su Ze’s generosity, he wouldn’t get the short end of the stick.
Su Ze said, "A typical Tier 2, S-rank extract has a buy-back price of around 100 million. This one is extrely high quality, and it’s from a mutated creature, so there’s definitely a premium. Let’s value it at 150 million."
Mr. Ya nodded repeatedly. "You’re a generous man, Bro!"
Su Ze’s valuation was indeed very fair.
Su Ze glanced at Mr. Ya and continued, "You did more of the work hunting this Mutated Giant Crocodile. Your contribution was greater than mine, so let’s split the spoils seventy-thirty. You take seventy, I’ll take thirty."
"No, no, no!" Mr. Ya waved his hand. "Without you, Bro, I couldn’t have killed this giant crocodile on my own. I, Yargha, may love money and be poor, but I still have so sha."
Su Ze smiled. "Fifty-fifty then?"
Mr. Ya gave an awkward smile. "Well... how about sixty-forty?"
"No problem," Su Ze agreed instantly.
It was clear that while Mr. Ya was greedy, he didn’t like being indebted to others.
When they had hunted the Brahma River Crocodile together, he had proposed a sixty-forty split, but Su Ze chose fifty-fifty, giving him an extra ten percent.
Now, when dividing the spoils from the Mutated Giant Crocodile, he was proactively giving that ten percent back to Su Ze, even though this ten percent was worth more than ten tis the previous one.
Su Ze imdiately transferred 90 million to Mr. Ya, leaving his own card balance at 110 million.
Next, all that remained was the massive corpse of the Mutated Giant Crocodile.
Ordinary beasts usually had so valuable materials on them. So could be used for pharmaceuticals, others for crafting special items.
But a mutated creature like the Mutated Giant Crocodile was special. Because they were rare, perhaps even unprecedented, no one knew which of its body parts could be used in dicine.
Treating it like a regular Brahma River Crocodile was definitely not an option. After mutating, it was no longer the sa as an ordinary Brahma River Crocodile. Parts that were dicinal in a normal one might not be in this one, and even if they were, the potency and dosage would be different.
Therefore, the dicinal value of most mutated creatures was extrely low. A pharmaceutical company wouldn’t go to the trouble of researching the properties of every body part just for a single specin.
Besides, Su Ze and Mr. Ya had filled this Mutated Giant Crocodile’s body with poison and riddled it with wounds, making it unsuitable as a pharmaceutical material anyway.
Selling it to a pharmaceutical company would likely fetch a pittance, which was pointless.
Mr. Ya thought for a mont and said, "I have an idea to sell it for a high price. Mutated creatures are extrely rare and have high research value, so..."
Su Ze understood what he ant. "You’re saying we sell it to researchers?"
"Exactly!" Mr. Ya nodded repeatedly. "Like our Luofan’s Institute of Evolutionary Studies."
Su Ze shook his head. "Doing business with the governnt is too much trouble—too much paperwork, too slow. Let
think... The Evolution Technology Group seems to do this kind of research. I’ll ask them."
As for Evolutionary Technology, Su Ze actually knew soone there.
He first took a photo of the Mutated Giant Crocodile’s corpse and sent it to his social dia contact, "Xu Sheng."
This Xu Sheng was the manager of the Evolutionary Technology branch he had t in Heiyan City.
Then, he dialed Xu Sheng’s number.
As soon as the call connected, Xu Sheng’s enthusiastic voice ca through. "Mr. Su? I knew it! My left eyelid has been twitching all morning. I had a feeling sothing good was going to happen."
"Mr. Xu, let’s skip the pleasantries and get straight to the point."
"Go ahead, sir."
"I have the corpse of a mutated beast. Are you guys buying? I heard your research departnt is very interested in this sort of thing."
"What rank?"
"Tier 2... S-rank at least. In any case, it’s stronger than any S-rank I’ve ever seen. I sent you a photo. Take a look for yourself."
"Alrighty. I’ll ask headquarters first and call you back shortly."
